Hey, Took it to the audio dealer and he said it dident smell like a voice coil. He also has the sub and he said his smelt alot when he got his.. Today it started to smell better so I am hopping it is just the glue>>>>

Well it doesnt smell like the mtx 4500 i just blew up... But I was cleaning the garage and I seen the box that it was shipped in. So i was getting some tools out of it when i got a wiff of that smell. I smelled the box and it smells the same as the sub... I checked the voice coils (well as i can see) The sub sill hits hard. It's only on the deep bass like "hypotized" when it really smells. I am just going to take it to the audio shop :mad: :mad:

The sub is fairly new. Looked at voice coils and they look perfect. And what am i looking for when i use a dmm?

Hey, I have just finished the big 3. Helps alot sitll a little diming tho. But anyway I have The mtx 12 9500 and the MTX 81001 amp ran a 2 ohm and the gain 3/4 turned up. Well after about 5-10 mins of bumping i can smell a smell. I cant really expain it. It is not like burned toast but it smell like somting burnt or somthing along that like. Sorry for the little info it is difficult to explain. Any thing will help. THANKS

Well would a 18 bl be louder that the MTX 9500? In the near futhuer i am getting 4 subs( this summer).... so in that case would 4 bl or 4 mtx be louder. Still would like sound quality!

Hey, right now i am running MTX 9500 12 dual 4. I am looking into upgrading to a BLT 18". I have a Mtx ta 81001 amp ( like 1000 rms. tested at like 1400rms at 2 ohm) Any way I like mtx but when it sits right behind me in my Dodge dakota i hear alot of distortion noices. With the Fi be any clearer? An also with the FI sub be louder running it off the same amp?
