  1. Ahh .. okay i think i get it!! or some of it at least .. thanks guys so like for a 3 sixty that can change the frequencies ... how do you change the power to your subs? so like i know head units often have sub adjustments but really fast .. like in steves hoe when i was in it he had litlte controls to his right of the seat that made it loudr .. thos juts "remote controls" for the amp?> thanks so much guys
  2. Hey all. A few really, really newb questions. As you all might know I'm new to car audio but very, very interested so ... 1) I believe it's made by RF, the 3Sixty; what is it, how does it improve your system, etc? I've read about it somewhere but it, somehow, didn't help. 2) So I have come to realize some amps are "mono" and some are multi-channeled. Why is this? Just makes it easier to route to multiple subs and/or a huge amount of power can't come through one cable? 3) So what; exactly; is an ohm? I realize it's something to do with impedence or resistance, but why do we want them or don't want them? I realize this is stupid but you gotta start somewhere! Thanks guys!
  3. I'm looking into it right now - thanks so mcuh guys this is much apprecaite & very helpful
  4. Wow thanks so much for all those links. I'll check that stuff out right now, after homework ... I just want to learn as much as I can. Thanks again man
  5. Really? I don't know much about amps and stuff but I'll probably need one for my new car ... how much?
  6. Hey all, I've been doing lots of research about car audio, put a small system in my car (had it professionally installed though ... ) and love bass! I don't know much about the mechanics and building, electricity portions, installation, box building, etc... Anyone know of a tutorial that covers everything from wattage, amperage, current, wire size, amps, subs, box building, etc to decibel levels and SPL vs SQL, everything car audio? I want to learn more but if I don't know the relationship between an amp and a watt, I'm a little stuck Thanks a bunch and forgive my ignorance ~Matthew
  7. Lucky haha, looking great Steve ... keep it up been watching this thread since post 1 but I guess I never post much ... because it's all just awesome! Keep it up
  8. shitt... alright i won't play music & ill take it out today or something ... been meaning to upgrade amps my amp isnt pushing my subs hard enuf anyways thanks for the help
  9. yeah, it's a VERY cheap amp, my whole system is pretty cheap, very entry level so buying a new one wouldn't be all bad. .. i couldn't hurt the wiring could I? just the amp?
  10. okay, will do that tommorow..thanks for the advice its too dark now and i have stuff to do ... is it bad to run it if it has been damaged? thanks again, to all of you
  11. darn that's a great idea ... so if you just pull out the fuse it won't work? Okay so basically do I need a new amp now??
  12. Okay so my brother took my car to Tahoe this weekend and I just got it back tonight. I rewired the (2 12") subs up, and went to get my screwdriver for the amp. I had unsrewed the 12V battery wire from the amp because I didn't want power to it while the subs weren't in. When I go to screw it back in I see sparks and it smells like something is burning. Okay, I blew the fuse? Nope, because when I try the subs it works. They aren't playing that loud, though ... This means that the fuse in the amp isn't broken because they work, right? But, it really isn't that loud at all. I'm thinking sometime in the last few weeks I blew out one or both of my subs. So I go to check them out in the back and they are both (seemingly) working fine. I know this is going to be hard to comment on, but any advice? Thank you all and I hope I didn't ruin / break anything .. .I'm really new to all of this. Thanks again, Matthew
  13. sorry i miss some posts haha okay well i'm pretty broke so i just got 2 12" fusion subwoofers in the enclosure. its a 600W amp but i'm upgrading to 800W next week or the week after that. I think I'm going to have it prof. installed because I'm not skilled enough to do this haha! so you don't have to do the wiring diagram for me, thanks anyways though and thanks every1 for their help i tried for hours but i ended up just hurting my car haha too bad its like 120 for instlalation!!

  15. Okay thank you SO much for allt aht help i understand everything you said ( i bought a converter as well, the wires match waht you described) but i don't know how to take the head unit out and also how I would run the wires because the wires obviously aren't going to be going through the middle of the car.... soo that means they have to go behind the head unit somewhere and end up in teh back of my car which i dont know how to do the main prob. is getting the head unit off.. i can popp off the plastic pltae that goes on in front of the head unit, but can't pull it all the way off (maybe i have to take the steering column off?) help? thx so much so far u guys and i hope i can get this working its fustrating haha
