  1. Deffinately a forum rookie, cant find electrical catagory nor do I know what stickyed means.
  2. Your right my bad hes got a huge fuse in the trunk plus the one in the engine compartment. Both are from batt to amp. But still why do you use what fuse?
  3. Well I was curious what ya'lls opinion on fuse usage for your system. I know that my buddy for instance has about 2200 rms going to his sub and he has a huge fuse between his amp and sub plus the standard between batt to amp. Is there a "rule of thumb" when it comes to using fuses? What size, placement, and amount of fuses should one use?
  4. Yeah I thought thats what he said when we first hooked it up. "ahh the new sub smell" LoL. Yeah my lvl4 is in a hatchback(scion tc) so its plenty damn loud for me!
  5. Its is a brand new sub dont know if there is a "new sub smell"? LoL. Its not strong and I barely notice it. Hell it might be the damn mdf lol.
  6. Yeah Im a noob if you cant tell. LOL. The smell thing kinda of worries me tho. There is something of a smell when its hitting hard which is weird to me because it is not a electric smell(dont know how to explain like its not a smell you get when something electric is messing up.) To be honest im not even sure what clipping your amp means. I had a buddy of mine set my amp and he knows what hes doing but now that you mention smell it worries me.
  7. So let me see if I got this right, Lets say my amp says it will do 1400rms @ 1ohm w/ 13.4V. If that rating was taken with the amp making the sub distort or basically sound like crap then its given the rating nonclean. AKA even with an amp that gives said rating at an unclean power as long as you set your sub so that it doesnt distort or clip you dont have to worry about you sub being damaged? Basically lesser amps might give an unclean rating which is kind of misleading?
  8. Do you know what people mean when they say "clean" power or is that just a myth? From what Ive read, what you said seems to be the consensus: As long as the amp gives you the power you need brand doesnt much matter. And btw, 4 DC XL 18"s!?! And I thought my DC lvl4 12" was loud LMAO!
  9. I cant get on almost anything online becuase of my works firewall but If I remember correctly 1400 @1ohm and down from there. Ive heard that some amps give their rated power at a higher voltage than an actual 12v battery puts out and I dont know if thats the case as far as quality amps. Also Ive heard that some amps have "clean" power versus not "clean" power, which I dont understand. Also, there is reliability issues too. What makes an amp more reliable? I spent $300 on a quailty sub and I dont want a bad amp jacking it up.
  10. I have heard things about why one amp is better than another but I have never quite understood why. For instance I have an audiopipe ap15001d and it works fine for me and was cheap, but people say I should upgrade to a sundown or something similar when I get the money. Why is that? What makes one amp better than another?!?
  11. Yeah I wanted a budget system that could be heard from a distance and ended up spending $700 and I got an audiopipe amp. Honestly as everyone has pointed out in here $300 is not going to cut it. I spent that much on my one 12". Even crap stuff would be more than that and deffinately would not be heard from a distance.
  12. Another buddy told me about those cresendo's. They bada** or what?
  13. I saw ur build with those 2 12" DC's and that bada** box you made. Is that brand what you use? Where do you get them?
  14. Got one tweeter in each door(have a 2 door hatch, SCION TC) and a mid in each door + 2 in the back seat area(quarter panel trim). As far as price range I want quality but I dont need a freggin mid thatll do 1000rms you know? LoL
