  1. First I would like to start of with saying I just recieved my Pioneer DEH-80PRS after being told that since its the new year and it was on back order when purchased, I may not get one. But I did so AWESOME!!!!

Anyways, here goes the question. I purchased a MB Quart FX1.600 a while back, for the longest time I never had the Gain knob mounted to anything so I would use the knob itself to lift it into position to hold and turn it the knob. Well over time this made the knob able to easily slip off, and now, it's so bad that depending on how the rod is positioned, it will cut the bass in and out like its going from min to max, with just the shit of the knob. I was going to be doing work on my car this weekend, and was going to take it out, and open it up and see if I could work some magic. If I am unable to work said magic, what would be my best option as far as obtaining a new one, or even get it fixed?

  2. Lol I had the same questions when I thought about doing this. Now the only other thing you need to think about, is how to get the second alt wired to your eletrical system. I dont mean that either by its power wire to your battery. I mean the harness that connects to it from your car components telling it what to do, that's what you need to figure out.

so in theory you could get another alt wiring pigtail and wire it along with the factory alt and make it a two into one back to the factory harness car side?

From what I was told yes, That is the same exact way I asked when i was looking into this, and they told me yes. But I don't want to be help responsible lol

lol right on i understand but some answers are better than no answers, atleast with a little bit of info i could research it some more and get a definate answer. i dont mean to shoot you down im just sayin. thanks for the help dude i appreciate it

Yeah man no prob, no worries either, all understandable. Good luck on dual alts!
  3. Thanks RooTxBeer

If its smelling that means you're doing it right

Honestly it was a VERY slight smell. I know what a fully blown coil smells like and this did not smell nearly that strong. I did stop and check the sub and amp after I smelled it and neither were hot, only a little warm, and like I said above it did not get any worse

Amps will almost always get pretty warm when slamming, subs can too just not as warm as a amp can without having to worry. Once things get hot to the touch is when you need to look into things.

  5. Set your gains properly, depending on the input voltage from the RCA's, you could still be clipping. And I really never heard of new woofers having coil smell. Mine never did.

RCA voltage is 4 volts. I have no way to set the gain accurately. I can get a hold of a dmm but I have read that it is not a great way to set your gains

It is better than by ear by far. I used a DMM for the longest and never blew my subs. Use a DMM, and get the voltage that is stated you need, and just back off a tad. That is what I always did until I got my DD-1.
  6. We stopped carrying and selling Alpha Damp several months back.

Reason being, after further testing we found that Damplifier Pro performed on par with Alpha in most cases and installs.

Combined with the fact that the Damplifier Pro is easier to install because of it's thinner constraint layer, the bossman (Ken) made the decision to stop carrying it.

Simply put, it was redundant within our product line.

Oh shit, I didnt even know that you guys didn't make it! I thought it was one of your own prodcuts you guys had created. Well good to see then, thanks for the replies guys!!!

  7. We've been receiving an insane amount of visitors these past few days which is causing the site to go down on occasion. Too many sales... too little time. Also, our web developers have been working hard to make subtle changes to Sonic that you may have noticed recently, such as the new header and footer, which may cause the site to go down during odd hours.

    :sonic:

    Get some more server powwwaa!!!!

  8. That's a little arrogant.

That's kind of how this place is now. Someone shows what they got, then people say, oh you should have gotten this or trade it for that. :/

I just ignore those people, if everyone did, they would stop. Self-governance is wonderful but I suppose online where there is no identity such a suggestion is heresy.

Excellent component choice anyhow my last big PC build had an original XPower in it, loved that board.

Yeah you just ignore those people... but imagine you have 10 times the amount of people telling you what you should do like steve would have. Can see how it could get annoying. Easier to just cut it out from the start. Not arrogance.

    exactly.

It was a disclaimer that i don't need anyones help, before they even start. Basically saying "thanks, but no thanks". Some people always get feelings hurt when i say something as simple and polite as "no thanks". I can't even be nice about it without someone who isn't even involved getting their feelings hurt. Generally, in everything i do, i always have SOMEONE who wants to tell me what i should have done, after i already did it.

Anyway, Did it help? not really. In this case it was a good thing since i was dead set on getting 3 cards. I would have found out but then again i would have kept the extra 690 and bought another to upgrade my own pc. So no big deal. But still, it was good advice.

Well in the case Steve since you already bought 3, might as well dedicate one to PhsyX lool

nope i didn't get it, today i planned on ordering them......hence the reason i am glad the homie pointed that out. I was just saying, it wouldn't have been the end of the world, i woulda just kept it for my personal PC :D

I get ya, well ya good thing you did post it hahaha, or you could have sent it to me :P I'll pay the shipping

  10. thats all i have so far, being Sunday and also the GTX 690's are impossible to find locally.

I will update this thread when i buy more shit and of course during the build. Of course i will show you guys what a true gaming PC will look like when done LOL.

Also, i got this....i don't need 20 people telling me what to get, or what i should get. I know what i am doing, even if you do too. Thanks!
