  1. not yet haven't had time to get it installed

Well try this, run your system at home if you can with a DMM up to your battery or your amp positive/negative(prefered) and see what the voltage is when this happens. May I ask what type of wiring you have for this amp and what type of wiring you have under your hood for your alternator and battery? Also is your battery and alt stock or are they aftermarket?

  2. Hey fellas i recently bought this amp and when i hook it up it turns on and works great...until i turn it up for roughly 3-5 minutets on a heavy bassed song it goes into protect. The gain is only roughly 1/4-1/3 up. No bass boost from deck or amp. I'm running Stinger HPM 3 rca's to the amp and have the ran down passanger side of vehicle with my power wires are on the driver side. I have performed my Big 3 have 2 runs of Zero front to back(1 neg 1 pos) XS power D925 under the hood and a XS D2400 in the trunk. Currently pushing 2 DC lvl 2 12's at 2 ohm load. Any ideas what could be going on?

How was the gain set, telling us where the knob is pointing is useless because we don't know pre-out voltages from that head unit.

  3. Rootbeer, I agree with engine on. But SMD recommends setting with engine off to cover their ass.

Why wouldn't you set it how you run it?

I just read the manual, and unless I am blind or retarded. I didn't find anywhere saying to set with the car off. And exactly. Why wouldn't you tune it how you would have it while listening. That is like buying a car, paying somene to retune the engine to perform best on 101octane fuel. Then only running it on regular.

  4. I did mine with the engine on. The way I see it, your car is off, approx. 12.6-13.0v on the battery. You set the gain. Now you go and turn your car on. Now it is running at around 14v-14.6v meaning it well make more power compared to where it was just at, and thus possibly creating clipped signal. Am I wrong here? It only seems logical to me. I have had my system like this for ever and have never had ANY problems.

  5. Did anyone completely skip over the fact, that he said he tuned his amps with a EQ preset on his HU? Unhook the speakers from the HU now, they will do nothing to make your ride sound better or louder, only hinder it. When you set your amp, set it with your knob all the way up, seeing as you said it's a level adjustment, not bass boost. And when you set everything, all your EQ's and filters must be at their lowest points or completely turned off.
