  1. I am planning on running the tweets on another amp. I'll be running the mid range and mid bass on the 175. I'm probably looking at bulding a component set with the mille and high energy since this will be for a daily set-up and don't plan on competing as of right now. I know of some dealers but i'm waiting to find the time to go back up to Indianapolis to talk to someone and preview them.
  2. I can understand that. I do like the mille line. I bet the sq on them are amazing. I've only heard them in video's and that never does any justice because most people don'y have a very good camera. I was really wondering about the spl show line because I really don't know much about them.
  3. Thats what I thought and was leaning on. I read somewhere that the passive crossovers can take a lot of volume out of the speakers. I could be wrong with that though. At least could be true with some brands more than others. But I honestly don't know. I haven't been in the game that long and wanting to learn.
  4. I have the hertz energy, but sometime soon hopefully I will be upgrading them. I was wondering if it would be better to run active with the spl show sv200(midrange), sv200L(would this be a good mid bass speaker?), and maybe the st44( or maybe use a different tweeter from the mille line) or run passive or possibly active with the ml3pa? The crossover i'll be running with them would be the audiocontrol 6xs and hopefully adding on the eqs. The amp that will be powering them will be a dc 175.4. This is going to be in the future so i'm planning the build as of now and I love the Hertz that I have already. I have heard the mille line but have not heard the spl show line. also with the system properly set up and having clean power will 175 watts per channel be fine to run them on? Any help would be appreciated.
  5. Could he not run these? http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_16846_Stinger-SPT821-Gold.html?from=857-141-332 I just don't have any clue if they are any good or if it would cause any resistance.
  6. I was looking at the aq amp since it'll match the 2200 from them. I'll check out the other two. Thanks. sundown used to have a 200.4 as well but youd have to find one used. I really like the dc 175.4. How would I go about getting a price estimate? Would I have to contact them because the closest dealer is like 3 hours away from me? just go to the dealers list on the DC section of the forum. you can Pm them and they can get you quotes ok. Thanks a lot.

  9. I have a memphis pr4.50 powering a pair of hertz esk 570's in the front and esx 570's in the rear. I was planning on adding a pair of esk 570's to the front. So that I have two pairs of them. I'm looking for a good quality amp. I know rockford makes some good ones, but want to know of a few more. Max budget would probably be around 400 to 500 hundred.
  10. I do like the hammer crimper. Would be perfect especially if you don't want to solder.
  11. I'm going to get kleins. I noticed some of their tools are pretty pricy, but I guess depending on what you need them for the price reflects the quality of the tools. The tips you guys have for stripping zero gauge wire is going to help me out a lot and cut down on the time, but do you think this would work or would be a waste of time? http://www.lowes.com/pd_330219-16878-54038_4294822077+4294821403_4294937087_?productId=3308326&Ns=p_product_prd_lis_ord_nbr|0||p_product_qty_sales_dollar|1&pl=1&currentURL=%2Fpl_Copper%2Btube%2Bcutter_4294822077%2B4294821403_4294937087_%3FNs%3Dp_product_prd_lis_ord_nbr%7C0%7C%7Cp_product_qty_sales_dollar%7C1&facetInfo=Copper%20tube%20cutter
  12. Thanks for the input guys. I'm going to look into the ones you guys posted. I don't mind spending the money if they're a good quality tool. Thanks again.
  13. I've been looking for a good pair of crimpers and wire strippers. I just wanted to get an opinion on which one you guys use or recommend. Also, is there a such thing as strippers that would strip zero gauge wire. I have looked a little, but really haven't had any luck. I just don't want to spend the money on a pair and don't work to well or won't last through the years. Thanks for any input.
  14. LOL. Thats tight.

  15. It's actually 1/8, but whatever. That port will fail miserably. I wouldn't even bother trying it no matter how much spare money you could get. The straighter the port the better. I guess if it fails it fails. There's no harm in trying. This industry wouldn't be where it is now if nobody took chances. Thats what makes car audio so great.
  16. It would be modified better, but I wasn't even sure it would work anyways. I just had a crazy idea and figured I'd see what everyone thought. I guess I'll build the proper box and then when I get money to waste on mdf i'll play mad scientist and try it out. If anyone can think of anyways it could work then let me know because I think it's a cool design but if won't work then it won't work.
  17. In theory I would like the port to come out like that, but I want the two 18's to be dropped in from the top. Do you think I could get my port like that and it would still be beastly or use a port we already know works? I just couldn't show what I wanted because I'm still learning how to use Google sketchup.
  18. I going to be getting two FI BTL's and want to have them top mounted. I came up with a box designs and want to know what your opinions of it would be. I just don't want to waste my time if it's going to take away from the performance of the subs. Here is a rough sketch of the design with my idea. I have no idea on box dimensions yet but thought I would throw my rough still under construction idea out there and see what everyone would have to say. I want to run the port from the box down between that amp and seat and have it directing out from under the seat. Obviously with some modifications.
  19. ok, thanks. My system now is fine, but I only have one 12w7 running 1000wrms. I'm getting the two 18" fi Btls soon and didn't want them to over power my speakers. But thanks for the answer.
  20. I need to know how many mid range speakers and high range speakers I should get to have the best overall sound quality with my subs. I would also like to know placement. I know I will have speakers in the middle section, but don't really know if I should add more there or keep them up front. Also, would it be best to wire the mids to a seperate amp then the highs? Would that give me better accuracy in sound reproduction?
  21. It is, but not compared to the wattage most people in competition have. I could be wrong though. I just got into car audio when I got my 12w7 and always want to go bigger so I don't know a whole lot.
  22. I'm going to be running 2 18" Fi BTL's and have them set up to be running 3000 watts rms combined. It's for daily and not show because I don't know enough yet to set up a high watt system. My question is how many Mid/high speakers should I install to get the best overall sound quality without the subs overpowering the music? And should I have my mids hooked up to one amp and my highs hooked up to another amp? or what would be the best set-up? Keep in mind it's not for competition but still want to have the best overall sound quality without making the subs or speakers over power eachother.
