  1. I don't believe the OP is ragging on the guy for his system...but how he presents it. I mean, just because someone is poor and doesn't have the best house in the world, doesn't mean that they can't keep it clean...same thing applies here. My first "system" was two 8" home audio speakers in some weird ass box just spliced in with the rear speakers, then I got some audiobahn HU, with two 5.5's for the front, and two lightning audio (walmart back in the day) 6x9's inverted in the rear deck, and two Pioneer IMPP 12's, one which was blown, but I didn't care, powered off of a 250max watt 4channel amplifier...wasn't much, but all my wires were hidden or neatly kept. Not taking the extra effort to do minor things like this does show laziness. If someone is proud of what they have, it will be kept neat.
  2. Well, the 12 has a min of 2cu' per sub, meanin I need at least 4cu'...the 15 calls for at least 2.5cu' or either 3cu' for one sub. With my max deminsions, I have a gross vol of 5.57cu' of usable space, after planned bracing...so with the two 12's, I'm lookin at approx 5cu' of net vol, and with the 15 I'm lookin at a net of approx 5.25cu' which is plenty for either setup. Now, be aware that is demisions with a permanent port of approx 30hz, but with the interchangable ports I'm planning, they won't be quite as big, therefore adding a little more net volume. I'm on my mobile ATM, or else id show u my torres sheets and sketchup. The sketchup above is pretty much what I was planning, with slight differences. I've done a lot of research and thinking on this over the past couple of days, and I think I've got it down...if anyone has any suggestions or advice that might help out, don't hesitate...maybe I can get this right, and it could be the next big thing.
  3. Ugh, seriously...triple post. Stupid droid. Read below...
  4. I've done a couple of sketchups myself, but thanks for the offer...if you feel like making one, I'd love to see what kind of ideas you come up with though and we could compare...who knows, you might have something totally different than I do on thought. But, to answer the main asked question, yes, this does seem impracticle when thinking of making two baffles and two totally seperate boxes. BUT...due to my limited space, I'm trying to save as much room as possible. I have a false floor in my hatch right now, and my batteries and shit are under the false floor in the spare tire well. So, instead of placing a box on the false floor, I'm gonna attach the walls of the box directly to the false floor...just use the false floor as the bottom of the box...glass it all together, and make it one piece...so therefore the whole "two different boxes" wouldn't be practical. This is why I thought of the idead for interchangable baffles.
  5. OMFG...WTF Dude...I just got on a computer and actually looked at the link...$75.oo plus shipping for one freaking circuit? Wow, did not realize how much you get overcharged when ordering direct from the dealer these days. Go look at the circuit breaker at DARVEX.COM. I'm talking about a stinger 200amp circuit breaker, the same one in your link, for only $33.oo plus shipping.
  6. So, I got a fi btl 15, nd I'm ordering two fi btl 12's. I dont wanna get rid of the 15, and I wanna put it to use, so how about this. Interchangable baffles. We make interchangable ports, and this build will have that too, but why not baffles? One for a single 15, and another for two 12's. Of course I would have to find some way to make sure the box is sealed...maybe some waetherstrippping around the baffle/box edge, and some heavy duty toolbox like latches...let me know your ideas.
  7. Well, I never used mine on any run of wire that you couldn't see the entire thing. Only on short runs such as alternator to front battery, or rear battery to amp. A short wire that would rarely have any reason to short, and if it did I could quickly find the reason. But as far as wires like from front battery to rear battery, I always used fuses. Too many things for the wire to rub against, and too many things to go wrong...i'd be tempted to just flip the breaker and go back to full tilt...and I don't want magic smoke.
  8. True, but in the long run, you still save money...unless you just reset it and keep bumpin...that's when you tend to see magic smoke!
  9. You're right, its does the same thing as a fuse, but instead of replacing the fuse, you just reset the breaker...higher initial cost, but saves in the long run. I've used then before, and as long as u understand the purpose of them, they save you money...if it trips, it for a reason. Don't just reset it and keep bumpin...trace your wire and find out why it tripped before you reset it.
  10. Who cares...bass is better anyways. LOL! But on the real, its prolly one of those things that happens like 1 in a milllion.
  11. Of course...in the process of a build now...got one aq to a Fi BTL 15", and making interchangable baffles with interchangable ports...one baffle is gonna be for the one 15" and the other is gonna be for two Fi BTL 12" N2's, and I'm gonna have one port for 50hz, and the other for 32hz! FTW!
  12. I made a whole cd of nothing but sweeps and tones...one sweep from 20hz to 60hz, then in incrimants of 5...for example, a sweep from 21hz - 25hz, then each tone individually, and then started on 26hz - 30hz.
  13. Just download audacity...you can make any sine note or sine sweep you want @ any db level.
  14. You know it man...love the sound of it when its at idle at a stop sign... Thanx man...and also to everyone else's positive comments on this build...i really want a roll pan on my truck too.
  15. It is a way of efficiently advertising decals, other than saying "buy our stickers, and put them on your shit"
  16. so...you meant to wire one coils + to another's -, and u accidentally hooked it to another +?
  17. play around and test out. my box turned out to be VERY peaky (it was a sealed box originally for a single JL 12 then adapted to fit a DC 12" level 2 and ported). WHen I made the trip to Ricks shop, we TL'd my set up and it peaked at about 51hz. SMall box and small port, sounds good though! Well, i'm hoping mine turns out good.
