  1. That video is in my build log btw. And the RMS on my system in the video is 470w x 1 @ 2 ohms on my subs, and 160w x 2 @ 2 ohms. The last one is estimated because all I know is the Sony's RMS is 80 x 2 @ 4 ohms, but I'm running two speakers per channel. It's a Nissan 200sx
  2. Thanks for the help, I've heard alot about the big three but it honestly never crossed my mind. Haha bonehead. And no, it doesn't do it until big bass hits and I don't actually have park because it's a 5 speed haha. If you have the time, check out my last video. Those subs are gone now, but even that setup was dropping it to about 500 RPM. I'm about to throw considerably more power in the trunk though. It would be awesome if it killed my car! But yeah I'll look into the big 3 upgrade.
  3. Hey guys, I'm not really running a very high wattage system (Less than 1000w) but my car seems to have a hard time keeping up with it. The most noticeable thing is my RPMs always dipping down so low my car idles super rough. My alternator and battery are both very new, but not high output. Just a Duralast and standard alternator replacement. Is it normal that a pretty weak system would put an overwhelming load on my car, or does this indicate a problem in my electricals? System is Focal Solid 600w amp and Sony Xplod "480w" amp (yeah right). The Sony is on my mids/highs.
  4. Honestly, if it were me buying it, my cheap ass would be on ebay buying it! But it was a shared gift from the family and my stepmom wanted to get it from bestbuy for the 6 months interest free thing haha.
  5. And on Crutchfield it's what we paid...$260. You must have saw the wrong one haha.
  6. Well, I didn't get it that cheap, but I didn't pay $290 for it either! I have a Pioneer deck in my car that has a similar issue with my iPods here and there...not very often though. He will use the feature I'm sure, but he only has an iPod nano, not an iPhone. Thanks for the info though!
  7. Sounds like I made a good decision. I'm not completely familiar with Pioneer's products. But the specs sounded pretty good!
  8. I ordered this a few days ago for my dad's Father's Day gift. I'm about as excited about it as he will be! He's always been a fan of Pioneer or I would've got him a Kenwood Excelon deck. Any thoughts on this? http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Car/CD-Receivers/DEH-P7200HD
  9. Thanks dude, yepp they're just P1's getting 470w of power. Now, I wonder what P3's would do...I got alotta graduation money coming in soon.
  10. Looks good, but personally I wouldn't have painted the leather wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.
  11. Yeah that all makes sence. I might try the old country version just for the hell of it. Cool that y'all use them on ovens and stuff too...multiple uses.
  12. I'm too sceptical to try it, but it sounds like it might work if you were lucky.
  13. So my uncle was telling me today that some guy said that he wanted to remove some dings in his car doors. He used a heat gun to heat up the metal and then sprayed that dust remover aerosol can upside down on it (which apparently makes them cold enough to burn your skin) and it just popped out. I guess it was the rapid expansion/contraction of the metal? Do y'all think this actaully works? Kinda cool.
  14. I know I'm way late, but thanks for the feedback.
  15. Does anyone know of an easy way to view your topics without searching for them? For example, other forums have a page that shows threads people have responded in, but it's just the threads that you are part of. And I always have to unbury my build log from the depths of SMD when I have an update. Speaking of which, check out the new amp please:) Build log in the signature.
  16. Well I'd be careful getting a better sub because if the RMS is too high for the stock amp, it's likely to underdrive it and it'll be quiet. Might wanna consult the dealer/manufacturer.
  17. Hey guys, I was going to tint my mom's tail lights on her Camry with the VHT tint, but there is a clip holding the tailight to the rear bumper and I'm not taking the rear bumper off just to pull out the tail lights. I'm only here for a week, so I was wondering if anyone knew of a retail store in the Dallas area that sells the tail light tint like Rvinyls sells. It sticks on like tint for your windows. If I order it standard shipping, it's likely to not arrive before I leave. Thanks.
  18. If you like what you hear, please subscribe!
  19. Well yeah I understand he's not rich, but some of it I think was more laziness...like the wires throughout the car. That just takes some elbow grease to take care of those.
  20. Ahaha "what are you taking pictures for?" "So I can make fun of you of SMD." Yeah I know everyone starts somewhere...some of the stuff I've done I'm not so proud of now, but that computer speaker is what really did me in. If it were louder than mine I would drive my car off a cliff.
  21. He had one of those premade box's with two drivers in the rear dash and a JBL computer speaker pointing to the back seats from the console...and a mess of spaghetti wiring all over the place that wasn't hidden under the carpet. Fail.
