The measurement the DD1 takes is different then the measurement you see in a scope.
A scope is showing you a sinewave. As the voltage increases you will see the wave square off when the signal can no longer produce that wave effectively A DD1 measures THD. The DD1 measures the point at which the distortion ( not square wave) becomes dirty in the signal past it's preset reading point. Now, there can be a wide gap between the point where the dd1 reads at it's set point to the point where you see the scope signal start to square off. This can be a big THD percentage number depending on the product. It'snot hard to read up on exactly what Total Harmonic distortion is guys.

I'd be interested to see the hole setup and how they are hooked up.
I have had a dd1 for quite awhile now and have used it on a large number of production and NON production equipment without issues. I have even used in against my TPI 460 scope. A number of times. Not because I don't trust the ddW, but to justify my scope collecting dust on the shelf.
Sadly no matter what people say about the product, there will be a group to hammer on it. And no matter who says it works, they will still bash it and call the users nut huggers.

I know Damore doesnt have time for this shit, but I personally would be interested in them doing another tutorial video refuting the claims. Its not their job to refute claims, however, their past vids have been extremely informative.....and Im basically not going to take Joe Blows claims about a product if they arent from Damore
In all reality, a video or even a dozen wouldn't matter. There will always be a large group of people who believe a product is crap because someone's name is on it.
Hell, before the DD1, you had the same amount of people who would say an O-scope was a waste, that a ddm was just as good.

There is going to be people who will hate anything with Steve's name attached it, and it has nothing to do with the product.

If I was good at photoshop, I could post up any number of proto amps I have here to keep people talking for years

Only after the Lvl 5 tweeters are finished

You shouldn't even need to explain this. I will always pay more for a quality product and be happy knowing my hard earned money is going to a man good enough to bring a dependable no-nonsense product to the market at a reasonable price.
Sadly, not everyone understands what all goes into production of any product. They are quick to say fuk that, X product is cheaper and just as good. While Steve won't comment on the improved SQ quality, which is understandable as SQ is very subjective, It's not hard to take in the specs of this wire vs X mass produced brand to see the difference will make a difference SQ wise. While you may not hear a tonal difference, it sure is nice to not have to deal with the random crackling sound, or a slightly muted channel because the end has a short.

I just want to say to anyone who is put off about the price is to look into doing quality products yourself. Not only can good ends cost you a buck to 100 bucks EACH end, Quality coax or Twisted is difficult to find. There is an overload of crap wire in the market. I see it all the time in CCTV. just cause it looks the same, is called the same, doesn't mean it will perform the same. Nothing worse then running 1000ft of cheap and good in the same conduit, to see the quality difference be night and day on the screen. Yes, I did say 1000ft
Then once you spend all this money for supplies, you have to take the crackhead time to solder them all together. Even if you think you are somewhat good at soldering, you will be challenged in a simple task as this. Hitting all those pins without having too much wire exposed, not getting the wire too hot to melt the inner jacket AND not getting the pin too hot and melting the support takes time, practice, and patience. I make my own rca's and trust me, Steve's prices are way cheaper then what I would charge

I had a chance to get my hands on both these / try to break / void the warranty the other day and I was impressed with the quality. Very good quality wire, and the ends are exactly what a quality end should be. Finish in the solder joints and protection of the solder joints are great.

These things take awhile to produce and get right 1st time out. I've seen the revisions 1st hand and they are worth the wait.
Besides making revisions to any product is expensive. Tooling is no joke. It doesn't take but a very few times to be deeply invested into a product.

Truf. it use to be that you had to see the person face to face to talk shit. Hell even a phone call was hard if they didn't have this new thing called "call waiting" Now these pussies talk crap from their parents computer.
You know the old saying Steve. No one even sees who throws the first punch

Steve,
Since everyone else is telling you what you should build, I figured I would as well.
You should get a case that is off white, not bright white, not flat white, not antique white, but one that is egg shell white. It's what I would do when spending Chicken's money
pearl white with some flake in it.
Pearl pastel pink is Steve had any balls to do it

I've got a D3100 that has been sitting in the garage all year. When I put the charger on automatic it only takes a few seconds to kick off and say it's fully charged. Should I just let it set on a trickle charge for a while anyway just to be safe?
Sitting in the garage, and having one hooked up in a car are 2 different things.
Batteries properly stored will be fine.
Newer cars have electronics that are always on. Over time, they will drain any battery no matter how nice or new it was. Same goes for setting an alarm system and letting it sit for months on end.
-
5 months without at least a charge now and then is pretty harsh on any battery. It sounds like you are assuming their isn't a slow drain within the electrical system somewhere. I would suggest the next time you invest in a battery, that you also invest in a battery tender.

people keep suggesting 8 inch.. how many people will be buying 8 inch subs? even people that dont know about car audio skip the 8 inch and go with 12 or bigger.
me personally im looking for a SQ sub that can take 2500 rms in 12 or 15 inch that can be used in a 4th order blow through
Its interesting, throught my entire career of installing/car audio retail store owner I never sold that many 8's But since we started selling them we sold ALOT of 8's I was amazed at how many people buy them. I have one in my own car and smashes.
And it took me bugging you long enough to make them
Now produce me a 800x2
KTHXBYE

4 Pages over a damn invoice..............
By the way Mario, there is a freight offload fee when I have to fire up the forklift.
I think when I build the framework, I will use the extra long screws so they pop out of the roof. Then we can call the car pinhead.

Well, it is fused within 18" of the battery.

Yup. If I can tweak crappy speakers to sound better then life is good
-
If I can make changes to the speaker enclosure to better match the overall response I am looking for out of my soundstage, without the use of processing to do it,then I'm sold

Jesus. between this, the VU-din and VM-1 i'll be spending quite a bit of money here soon.
I can't wait to get my hands on this one. It will be very interesting to actually see what is going on with how my system is set up and help me make some changes to improve on it.

What do you guys do with old car audio equipment?

I use to have quite the collection of my old gear stacked up to use again later. Most of it was limited production stuff, or collectors items. Times have been tough and I have sold just about everything in the collection
