  1. So its the lows that travel and give the rolling thunderous bass that can be heard at distance but what influences the intensity of the sound at a distance? Is this down to cone area and power and Xmax? Do you need lots and lots of big, powerfull subs or can it be done from relativaley small set-ups if done correctly? What are the best boxes to use? Sealed, ported or bandpass?
  2. What is the difference in a system designed for SPL and a system designed for pounding. Ive heard systems hitting high numbers on the meter but not really pounding, and systems you can hear half a mile away that rattle your windows but dont get high numbers on the meter.
  3. Enough Said, Think I'll look for something else! Can anyone recomend something to go in around 1.5 cubes ported for a mixture of SQ and good output??
  4. Hi, Are these any good? I've heard good and bad things about them. Can anyone comment and help me decide wheter to buy 2 of them and put them in the ED's twin ported box for a small install I'm thinking about doing.
  5. That wouldnt be this guy would it: http://www.icixsound.com/vb/showthread.php...age=2&pp=10 Looks a bit crazy!!
  6. I thought reflected waves bouncing all over the place from 8 - 16 subs might??? cause some form of cancellation but I'm far from sure!!! Still learning about all this stuff. Im hoping to hit over the140 db mark using 2 though, and have seen on various forums it can be done. Just trying to find as many ideas as I can. Anybody else any more ideas??
  7. Wouldnt that cause loads of cancellation problems though ? But i bet ya would still know about it!!
  8. have a look at http://forum.soundpressure.com/showthread.php?t=5551
  9. Yep, just the 2 8's like Soundsplinters or DD's or Audiopulse. Any idea who's the bad ass box with the 4 6.5's is and what make and amp ???
  10. Has anybody ever done over 140db's with a couple of 8's
  11. So whats gonna play louder, the Audiopulse, DD or Splinters? Given a max of upto 800W rms each and put in the right enclosure?
  12. Ouch! I was also thinking Digitals Designs but after seeing those sondsplinters I may go along that route. They look truley Awsome! Does anybody have a link to soundsplinter?
  13. Currently thinking about purchasing a couple of audiopulse 8" epics for a new build. I have around 800watts rms to give to each of these (if they can take it !) and anything upto 3.5cubes to play with. Want to go ported and compete in local SPL competitions, Id be up against 2x 8's or single 10" setups where levels of upto 137 - 140dbs are currently being achieved. Any thoughts or comments welcome.
  14. It always seems to come back to DD or RE, they must be the business! Might just buy this: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/audio-mx12-p-4967.html or 2 of these: http://www.ddaudio.com/dd/GalleryWoofers/2...508TopAngle.jpg and be done with it!
  15. Now they look like good subs. Got any SPL figures for your set up? Which audiopulse model are the TC's equivalent too. Im looking at the epics, two 8"epics would fit nicely and be something a little different to the usual set ups round here. I wonder how they would compare on output and power handling to the DD1508's? Or would I be better with a single 12" epic or maybe even the 12" REVO?
  16. I was thinking maybe mount the sub on the outside of the enclosure and reverse polarity. I have quite a bit of room above the enclosure but it becomes narrower as the height increases due to the shape of the hatch and slope of rear seat.
  17. Thinking about an RE MX12 or maybee a SI Mag D2 Like the looks of the Fi's but dont think there is a UK supplier, unless they could ship direct?
  18. Hi there, Im new to this forum, and live in Nottingham, UK Im hoping to start a new system in my Ford Ka just after christmas but am unsure of what sub/subs to buy. If possible id like to be able to hit around the 140db mark but only have space for a 2.3cubic enclosure (even less when sub/s and port are fitted) due to the extreme small size of my car. Not sure if this level could easily be achieved? Depending on what the output is I may consider competing but really just want a loud daily system. I was thinking along the lines of 2 DD1508's with around 400 - 500W rms each in 1.75cubic feet but am also considering a single 12" Any thoughts, ideas or reconmendations would be welcome. Thanks Mark
