  1. Yeah I'm going to try that out beginning tomorrow for sure. Thanks N8, and thanks everyone else for the quick replies. Ill let you guys know.
  2. No it was never at "full" volume but it was working fine. Ill re-check my wiring, But Im pretty sure its correct and all drivers are in working order. O and the mids are selenium and so are the super tweeters. I have the drivers wired together, final impedance before rise or anything is 3.8 on the different channels.
  3. Yeah.. I just tried again, gain on the amp was 25% and went into protect again at volume 18.. The mids are honestly as loud as if you were talking in the library lol. No bass boost B.S. ... No other sub amp or anything else conected. Ill try swapping units like you said if nothing else has a better sug.
  4. Honestly I just tried it not too long ago, amp was cool.. I turned the volume to 14 and it shut off again. Gain is like 65%. Volume goes to 62 but I Never turn it up even close. I dont have any way for checking the clipped signal.. Ill have to get that new SMD invention O and each channel is only at 3.8 ish ohms. Running 8 ohm Selenium Mids and Super Tweets.
  5. Installed the DC 175.4 in my vehicle as of 2 days ago and everything seemed to be working good. Today it all of a sudden cut the music and went into protect, I felt the amp and it was pretty warm. My voltage is good (power and ground) the remote wire is giving a good signal. My rca's are legit. Im just asking for your guys input on the matter. I know I remember reading the manual a while back and it mentioned the receiver DC current can only be 4V... My Pioneer 5200DVD that i just sold had 4V pre-outs but I switched it out for my older (6 year old) Pioneer Premier DEH-P780MP. It has a 16 band EQ.. blah blah blah and I know the pre-outs are 5V <<< Is this the cause ? Thanks guys...
  6. I didnt know I was a teenager, are you not literate or just dont know how to count? Thanks for your input though. I can see you being one of the mid 40 year old guys going through a mid life crisis, not knowing how or when to give up a hobby. Get over yourself. hrm... get over yourself.... listen here dickweed n8 is very intelligent and if he has taken the time to answer you, you should sit back and take notes. does he come off as an ass ya, does it matter no. If you were literate you would realize he is actually giving you good advice just not lubing it up Right...
  7. Really?.. lmfao... I laugh at people who have no idea what they are talking about and draw random conclusions from thin air. Congrats.

  9. So your saying.... ? I have "incorrect coils" because I am running at 1 ohm right now. Obviously if i bought the same coil config to match it'd be at .5 ... or even if i "prepared" myself to run a second sub Id be running at 0.5 or 2 ohm currently... Sub wasnt purchased new so didnt I have much of a choice. you did have a choice. buy new. oh wait thats not hte cheaper way out. Maybe you should shut down the Want to Sell and Want to Buy sections since you dont like used stuff. They must be pointless because everyone buys new shit now a days.

My current system is anything but cheap.. your statements are irrelevant. Obviously Ive upgrading 2 2 18's and they both will be new.
  11. The wires look THICK.. is that like.. 4/0 gauge welding cable ? GREAT SCORES!!

  13. Bottomed them out? Im pretty sure if the sub "bottomed out" he'd know.. because correct me if Im wrong, but the entire suspension would fail resulting in it "bottoming out."
  14. Why if it drops under 13v? I haven't heard of an amp smoking at 13v... Refer to my quotes for some info from Boon on low voltage and amp damage. i dont supose you have a link to the topic that was posted on do you? Thanks Boon first says it on the first page, then on the second gives a detailed description of the circuitry and electronics inside an amplifier and how they work. Right here: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/102061-cooked-my-amp/page__hl__1419163 Thanks, thats a great read very informative. x2 !!!
  15. im glad to see this score im wanting 2 xl 18s on 2 aq2200s tuned to 32hz in a blazer so its great to see true scores from half the system ill have.. i want to break 150.. and i can see tha'll be doable.. what was your peaking frquency? I could see you breaking 150 no problem.. and it was 42HZ I believe ? i also wanted to kno how it does on the lows and low lows like 20-25hz? im planning on puttin subsonic on 25hz.. does it over excurt on say 20-25hz? im thanking not much? what have u clamped? The box is tuned to 32hz, made by Dave the Box Guy. I do have my subsonic on about 25hz with the AQ 2200 and she can get pretty low for sure. Its not too too loud at 25hz because it starts to taper off.. but it murders anything above that. My favorite notes are probably 28-34 hz. The 28hz notes are gross But no ive never gotten around to clamping it yet. But dont get me wrong, its still loud at 25 hz. sounds nice but ill also have double the cone area so probably 20hz will get mashed! but ill watch the volume on 20hz if i ever play that low.. i love low lows.. Yeah idk about that.. thats a stretch if your tuning around 32hz. What are you going to tune them too DC=real bass ??
  16. Im just tuned to 32 hz.. I was peaking at 39 though. Hopefully that didnt confuse anyone.
  17. I see both you guys are running 3.5K's ... Im jealous
  18. Haha.. well with all the uncertainty I suppose Ill just scratch the idea and run at 1 ohm.. I know the amp can definanetly handle it (0.5), and I feel my electrical could as well... But Ill just either re-cone or sell it and buy 2 new ones with the correct coils.
  19. It would partially be because of coil configuration.. I mean, I could just get the sub reconed to D2 I suppose.
  20. I'm going to purchase a 3.5K and Im debating whether to run it at 0.5 or 1 ohm... Its going to power 2 xl 18's. For electrical I currently have a 200 amp Mechman Alt, Kinetik 1400 and 2400.. ( switching out for XS D975 and 1 or 2 D3100) I guess I'm just curious if theres any specs at what these "3.5k's" really put out at 1 ohm and even at 0.5ohm (before rise, or specs after rise doesnt matter), and what you guys would do or if you run one 0.5 daily. Thanks! Also Im guessing running it at .5 voids the warranty ?
