Some corners of my box are chipped, can i get some putty to shape it into place? Also, some joints of my box are not matching kinda unlevel. Can silicone filler fix this? Thanks.
-
so whats the bottom of the threaded rod connected to?
i am guessing the other end of the box the same way the top is with a washer and nut

Thanks guys, I should put the bracing in the middle of the wall to the back I'm thinking? and threaded rods glued in place or what? how will i keep it right there?
This is what i did, have to make sure you seal it up nice around the threaded rods hole. I used a 3/4" threaded rod, probably excessive but it worked great!
Perfect picture for example. THANKS ALOT!!

Add some bracing at the 40 inch long panel, 40 inches is quite a lot.
thread bracing wont hurt..40" is a long way....
Brace it with threaded rods. They take sup so little box volume that it can be ignored

sorry, had to get a good picture up...

I don't want to take too much away from internal volume, but I don't want to have to worry about baffle flex and all that bad stuff. 2 L7 are going into it.

i understand that it was maybe too far of a stretch. i understand that tuning, all that matters. i was just wondering that i could receive possibly what some people have gotten with their set up, not a bunch of bitter trolls....

176.5db
always has to be a smartass not helping. you have become a statistic
183.2dB
does it really matter?
what type of question smart ass response and question is that? thats like asking "Does horsepower really matter" clearly its a means of standard measurement..........
you are a jackass for asking a question like this.
you can calm your pussy too.

clearly its a means of standard measurement..........
Sure it is. But unless you're competing, who gives a flying f*ck. If it's loud to your ears, who cares about numbers?
i do.

i was going to give the subs everything they clould handle. (1500) got 0 ga wiring with 270a mechman alt. i dont know why everybody got there ass on their back in this thread. i CLEARLY said it was a rough estimate and a stretch. Thanks to everyone that ACTUALLY gave me a realistic answer. everyone else who are being trolls, calm the fuck down....

People should be shot in the head for questions like this
didnt i say it was a stretch. calm your pussy......

(continue from title) about 36, 37 hz. i know it is alot of variables, just give me a ball park.

Going over RMS is fine, and it's the best way to go, as long as you do it right. A lot of SQ guys like having a lot of overhead power. Music is very transient, and if your musical peaks are well within the power capability of the amplifier, your music will sound cleaner.
What you need to do is set your gains with a DMM.
Step 1: Determine the RMS output of one channel of your amplifier and the rated RMS input of your speakers/subwoofers you will be using on that channel. Select the lower of the two for referencing the chart above.
Step 2: Match the impedance (ohms) you have on one channel of your amplifier to the column on the chart.
Step 3: Turn your amplifier gain all the way down.
Step 4: Disconnect all speakers/subwoofers from the amplifier
Step 5: Insert the leads of the multimeter in to the channel you are setting (if bridging an amplifier use the terminals you would be using)
Step 6: Set the multimeter to ac volts
Step 7: Turn on the head unit, zero out all EQ settings, turn off all filters (low pass/high pass), and make sure loudness is off.
Step 8: Insert the test tone cd
Step 9: Set the volume to 75%-80% of the maximum volume on your head unit.
Step 10: Start playing the appropriate test tone - recommended 50hz for subwoofers, 1000hz for mids/highs
Step 11: Slowly turn the gain until you obtain the voltage from the chart
Step 12: Turn off the head unit, unhook the multimeter, hook up your speakers/subwoofers, then readjust your filters/eq settings to your liking and you're done.
yeah i know it's copypasta, but so was the place I got it from.
This was in another post (thanks Kranny) but I couldn't find the thread. TONES
hey its you again lol. how much you think over RMS is good?

im looking for something under 200 truthfully, what would be my best choice for that FA?
-
both rubicon and the mb quarts onyx are trash.
look at audison SR series for affordable clean power, hell even look at the Arc KS line of amps for something affordable thats clean.
those other amps mentioned in the OP are what i like to call throw away amps
well point me to where i can find one for under 200. whats so good about them in comparison to the others? they look like the same specs truthfully.
-
I think that would work if say you had an amp that was 120 wrms at 1 ohm and 80 wrms at 2 ohms and you ran it at 2 ohms versus if you had an amp that was 80wrms at 1 ohm and ran it at that.
exactly
-
I've heard the rubicons and they're ok. MB Quart Onyx aren't terrible, either.
It's only gonna sound as good as your worst component in the chain. Type S will sound nice with the right gear behind it. I cheaped out on my amp and that's why I'm not 100% happy with my setup.
yea, i had the 800a4 running them, they were great. my girl is dying though smh. i just dont want to go too much backwards you know?
If your serious about SQ amps, look at boston acoustics, zed amps, audison, older cadence.
yea, i already know about them, and they are out of the price range lol

Change your title asap before you get locked, bro. No vs threads
It's hard to say between brands, they both have decent and not so decent amps. If I were really into SQ I'd definitely check out Soundstream Reference amps. Those have been my dream amps since they came out in the 90s.
i made sure not to add vs, what should i change to? and are those better than the tarantula and rubicon? could you break down the lines in accordance to the superiority? (im new to soundstream)
I'd take the comparison factor out of your title
And IMO the Reference amps are the ONLY Soundstream amps worthy of the name they established back in the day. All the others, Rubicon, Picasso, Tarantula, are just middle of the line at best.
There a lot of technology in the Ref amps that they kept. Insane specs like 3000+ damping factor. These have nothing in common with the other lines they carry. Not trying to bash, just sayin.
sounds good, just WAY out of my price range lol. they are just running some type s components. =/
-
my philosophy is to get a amp that is more powerful than needed, but still properly setting gains. This will allow voltage drops and not straining the amp to do more than what it can handle with increased amprage pull. is this a good practice? or just get the amp that i actually need for it. i.e a 80RMS capable amp for a 80RMS speaker vs a 100RMS capable amp for a 80RMS speaker
-
your going to get 50 different answers from 50 different people... The only real test to see what you like is to get both test them and make a decision on your own. Too many people have too many opinions.
im open to the opinions, because im not open to my bank account lol
