  1. If you have EGR valvle codes have it changed quick. IF you don't this will only lead to more costly repairs in the near future. Once your engine sets a code it will no longer meter the fuel properly and goe sinto a default mode. When you continue to drive the next things that happen will be possible bad 02 sensor(s), clogged catalytic converter (or worse it could breakup and end up in your muffler), and or burnt plugs.

If you are handy go to your local Autozone and have them check the code to verify. Replace the valve or what ever other component is setting the code and hope other damage hasn't already been done. The cost of the repair will be made up quickly just in gas milage.

Also, contrary to popular belief, always run premium gas, it really does make a difference.

  2. hey all, first time on this site, figured i'd jump right in. i'm currently working on a build for a 99 ford ranger, it will consist of two fosgate 1500 bdcp's, two fi 12bl's, in a ported box, tuned to around 29 or 30 hz. what is installed so far, big three, 240 amp alternator, kenwood head unit, clarion eq, fosgate doors. i know this will probably get loud, but my question is, is it going to get to hairtrick level? any input or suggestions would be appreciated :)

    In a word....NO

will potentially sound really nice though!

  3. just a vent thread....

Ive been ordering parts for my exhaust to get fixed over the past couple weeks. only had the Cat left to buy, and I was supposed to get it today. I made an appointment on friday to get it installed and took the time off from work to get it done. now I normally never base my appointments on shippers, but the part was already in my town when I made it.

my roommate hasn't been receiving packages because the mailman wants our names on the inside of the mailbox. my roommates name isnt there, so he sends all his packages back where they came from.

my roommate decided today would be the day to change that, wrote him a letter and stuck it in the mailbox. the mailman got pissed. and since the label on MY package didnt have an apartment number, he was pissed enough to get it sent back to california. (you may think its not the case, but I get an abundance of packages and they definitely know me by now)

I got fucked cuz my roommate decided to do this. not only that but I can't get a refund from parts train till they get the cat back. my car is running like shit and I need that cat by friday, so the only thing I can do is ask the muffler shop to find one for me, and pay out the ass for it.

    =@ =@ =@ /rant

    Big Picture lesson....

    Choose your roommates wisely!

  4. So first I built a quick prototype so I could hear how the actual box will sound. Its at .6 cubes tuned to about 37Hz. I think it sounds great, but wonder what others think about folding the "L" port into an "S" shape to get the length needed for tuning. Am I losing efficiency with this type of design?

I am curious about this also for a slightly larger enclosure 8)

  5. Ok how do I put up the pics. The one thing I need to know the right way to do is the rear deck.I am going to fiberglass the deck an put 5.25 speakers back there. Can I just resin the factory deck then use glass cloth to get the desired look.

Here is one option for image hosting: Image Shack

    1. So you would upload the image to a hosting site
    2. Copy the web address of the link after it is uploaded
    3. In the post editor click the "insert Image" link
    4. In the "Url" field post the web address to the link

As to the glass ...not my area of expertise...yet

**Edited to add a few details about getting the link to the forum

  6. ii am getting a very bad alternator whine. It started after I put battery in the back and redid system wiring. Car was always quiet before. I've ran 2 extra grounds from battery to chassis with no help. Changed all rcas with no help. Amps r grounded directly to battery. Made 2 new grounds to headunit, didn't help. New 18g power wire to headunit. Ran hu power directly to distribution block. Motor has factory plus 2 grounds from alt to chassis and engine to chassis. Nothing has helped at all. Any other suggestions?

have you done Big 3 ?

  7. i have 2 rf t'1 12"s i'll do for $200 + ship.. not sure how much canada shipping would be though.

Is that $200 each or for both?

I read that as $200 + Shipping for the pair but only "CoolWazabi" knows for sure.

    /cheers :drinks:

  8. Although Im sure pleanty will disagree; since this is your first I recommend sealed. Especially with the 25hz Fs on the P1s You'll get nice deep flat response. The box will be simpler to build and will be a greta overall experience all the same.

With a ported box you will enjoy a nice increase at the tuned frequency, at the cost of a slightly more complex box and you'll miss out on the low lows that you can't hear anyway .

    /cheers

  9. It could be tricky to get the extra volume in the bed to not be too restricted at the cut through point.

This. I'd not recommend doing a box like that...just too risky depending on how small the cut-through is going to be compared to the normal size of the box.

Yeah I agree with both of you it is risky. The cut through is going to have to be huge to compensate for the short height of the bed. I would be using every inch I can squeeze out of it leaving enough room to glass and attach to the body...

Unless I can spec out a good 4th order BP in {16" X 39" X 60"} which will be tight with the 15.5 dia of the sub. I may be able to shave a bit off by removing the gasket though...and notch out a section in the top and bottom of the box.

I would think that you're probably best off with a bp, the angle probably wouldn't matter really, it should be fine :-)

How big is the hole you are going to cut be? I have a nice idea for how to do the box.

Hole can be as big as it needs to be. Just to guesstimate a max...36" X 14" ...ish
