  1. this was my sub before i sold it to jmilch. i had this in a 5 1/2 cube box with MY OLD AQ2200D amp on it. Put nicely in the back of my late but great 2007 MazdaSpeed3 GT. Anyone who has every talked sh*t on Memphis....you havent heard this sub. Straight up loudest single sub ive ever heard in my life. This WILL MAKE PEOPLE GET OUT OF YOUR CAR!

Thank you man. You are right this beast is loud. But in order to have what I want, I need a 12... you wouldnt happen to have a DC XL 12 or something similar?

  2. I got an re mt motor reconed with upgraded fi soft parts can handle everybit of 2.5k safely I had a powerbass xa3k on it at .5 daily and never got warm only used about a month but u would have to add cash it is a 12"

Sorry man if I added cash, I would just buy the DC 12 XL I have been talking with a rep about. I'd like to do a straight swap, or sell and buy a brand new sub.

    alright GLWS

    Alright thank you man :drink40:

  4. ya you didnt need to do all that sanding. all i did between coats of stain and varnish was hit it with a white scotchbright pad. it looks like some parts of your came out lighter than others like you sanded down too deep. did you wipe the stain off after applying?

just trying to help you do it better next time :good:

Thank you man. The longest time I spent sanding were right in the beginning getting the edges to line up. IF you see light around edge lines that is the case. The other un even color was imperfections in the veneer. Next time I would look for a better piece of ply. :drink40:

pay attention to what side you have facing out too. there is usually a good side of the sheet and a bad side.

I was smart enough to do that. I made sure the bad side was inside.

But I noticed alot of imperfections once the stain went on.

  6. Btw I looked at that box earlier, it's so pretty! That box and one of my drumsets gave me an idea.

How about a solid Maple box stained charcoal grey? Not sure about resonance qualities, but my 7 ply Maple drum kit sure sounds nice!

Your drums have been treated differently and had some other things done to the wood. I play in a band lol and buy a lot of equipment.

But maple would be nice if they had a decently priced veneer. I will have to check it out!

  7. With sound you actully want the panels to be heavier. Its a way to dampen the box. People are saying ply is stiffer. Well it is but it isnt if that makes sence.. Long storie short, birtch resonates more then mdf does. Mdf is better imo

Fiberglass and resin the inside then.

ive wondered this also, what difference does the resin make ? i am wanting to do this, but their is no point for me to right now, becuase i dont have the basic concept of what it will do lol

People claim the resin makes it stronger. I use resin in my screwless design that only use liquid nails. It adds strength and rigidity supposedly.

Its cheap, and some people claim it can gain a .5-1 db gain in SPL designs.

ok.. now i kinda git it lol, sounds like a challenge for some to take over =P " resined box vs. non resined "

It has been done. Even Steve himself recently said he uses it because it gives the box more strength. Not because it massively increases the DBEEEZ :clapping::drink40:

:yahoo: COOL! less work for me lol. only problem is the mess fiberglass makes =(

You are only going to use the resin. If you wear gloves and take your time, and mix things right its not bad at all.

... il try my hardest rofl

Heres a link to my build of the red oak box

  8. Thanks beautiful, staining a box ftw

    Thanks man :drink40:

    very nice man

    I appreciate it man

    Sexy box :drinks:

    x2

Got any pics of it installed yet? I'm wondering how it looks in the car.

Not knocking it at all, but that would look great next to my couch as a home theater sub enclosure too.

Yea man I will take some in the morning. I have a JBL MKii 12" installed in it currently.

I will go try to take a few tonight and see how they turn out.
