  1. I ended up just soldering the wires together. Does anyone know how much soldering increases resistance? Is it better to solder rather than to use connectors like butt connecters, or bolting the wires down like in the pictures above?
  2. Well I dont usually put any terminals on my box, and I try to keep it that way. I just don't care for them but since I use 8 guage, it would be hard to find 1 that would fit 2 8 guage wires. Supercharged DC's, I dont know how you would use those because I would have to put both + wires in there, and 1 would also have to come out to go to my amp. It's hard to even fit 2 8 guage wires in there, let alone 3.
  3. I have a 15" AQ HDC3 and am running it at 1ohm. It is D2ohm, but I wanted to see what the best way was to wire the + to the other + and - to the other -. Right now on one of the + side wires, I cut some of the rubber surround off about a 1/2 inch long and took the other + side and wrapped it around the exposed side where I cut the surround off on the other one. I then covered it with elec. tape and did the same to the - side wires in order to run my sub at 1ohm. Is there a better way to do this? This is what I need to figure out how to do, making it clean and efficient so that something does malfunction. Im afraid the way I have isnt correct and may cause problems. This is what I am doing, pic below
  4. I wonder if there is a "standard" wire for the remote wire. I've never had a problem, just wondering if a larger one would increase my input voltage.
  5. I was wondering what is the best wire to use for remote wire. I currently have, and have always had, a large guage (tiny wire) a large wire for my remote wire. The one I have now has like 10 strands of copper in it, maybe less. What should I use for my remote wire, what guage is sufficient, and does it matter what type of wire?
  6. What kind of RE Audio subs are they and are you sure they are wired with the right polarity? Usually a stupid question but it could happen. When I say that I mean are they both wired pos. on sub to pos. on amp and neg. on sub to neg. on amp? The subs have to be wired the exact same, if they are opposite then the waves cancel each other out and you hear almost nothing.
  7. Hmmmm.........well the AQ2200D does 2200 @ 1ohm at 12V, so it seems like it does a lot more watts at 1ohm at 12V, let alone 14V
  8. Happen to have the spec sheet? I might have to look into that amp, or one similar. Only downfall is that it doesn't match my sub but oh well, boo hoo.
  9. Sweet man, I appreciate it. I guess that is the BC2000D, does it do more at 14V or the same at 14V?
  10. Obviously yes, but clearly not as much heat as others. AQ it is!
  11. Hmmm.....never had a Crescendo.....I am always trying new (good) audio equipment. Anyone else vote on this? PS. I think they are out of stock online
  12. Thats what I wanted to hear. I've always been quality, so AP is something I didnt know if I wanted to venture into. Does the AQ amps get hot/warm at all cause I am used to JL's slash amps, which never put out any loss of power in the form of heat.
  13. Would a Audiopipe AP-30001D or Audioque AQ2200D be better for my Audioque HDC3 15 (copper)? The AP states 3K at 2ohms and the AQ at 2.2K @ 1ohm. I want the most power for my money, and the AP states more power and is cheaper, but is obviously less quality. Also, the AP states it has a 70-80 Signal to noise ratio, which is low. Which one should I get for the power/$ ratio; i.e. will the AP really put out 2.8K-3K?
  14. You mean as in having sufficient wire, constant power, etc.?
  15. Oh, gotcha. What about running 1 AQ200D on 1 HDC3? Like I said, I will only be running about 14V
  16. Are you the one that has the review on AQ's website that has the title of "camry + AQ = slamry"? Or something like that haha
  17. Or I was thinking the Audiopipe 30001d, which is 1500 RMS x 2 at 1ohm, but its 3000 RMS at 2ohm
  18. The Hifonics BRZ 2400.1 I can get for $325, but I dont know how much I trust their raitings of 2400 @ 1ohm.
  19. Ehhhhh....I'm not a huge Hifonics fan. Their amps get so damn hot. But i'll consider it. Plus its out of my price range
  20. I am looking to get a new amp for my Audioque HDC3 15". I currently have my 2 JL 500/1's hooked up to it in a 4.77 cubic foot box tuned to around 34hz. I need a new amp to power this sub, something to power it at 1ohm. I've heard this sub can handle 2000rms all day, but it is stated it is continuous at 1000rms on their website. So, I need a amp to power this sub and maybe a little more since I MIGHT use it to power 2 of these subs since I have an extra one. My budget is about $350, new or used amp. My car will not be running above 14.4 V. So far I have been looking into Audioque amps.
  21. How much port area does a HDC3 need per 15" sub? Also, how much cubic feet ported does each sub need?
  22. They are made in North Carolina, here around Iredell county. I've seen them make them and test them, along as working on some amps. I think they might get the textiles for the sub cone, spiders, wires, from China, but Im pretty sure they assemble most of it and make some of their own parts. I also want to say they put together their own coils.
