  1. Finally got beats back in the truck, sound quality is AMAZING!!!

  2. Assuming most of us are of age, what kind of cigarettes do you prefer? Twice a month, I hit the smokeshop for a carton of Marlboro Smooths. They go hand-in-hand with a good Monster Energy too
  3. I'm re-downloading all the programs I had on my desktop to my new Acer. I thought I might as well download WinISD since I had heard pretty good things about it, but I am stumped as to how to use it! Lol it's only reading box dimensions in Liters, can't figure out how to change it or if I even can. I had designed a vented box @ 55hz for a Kicker Comp 15 after using RE Audio's box calculator to find out how many liters the box was. I got it to get over 102 dB and climbing, but I can't figure out how to scroll up to see how high it actually got, or if I can even do that as well! Does anyone have any experience with this program?
  4. Just thought I'd give everyone an update, I haven't been able to post lately because my desktop is acting up. Just bought a new Acer so I'm enjoying it quite a bit! Anywho... I played around some more with my power issues. I grabbed my DMM and took a reading off of the positive terminal of the amp, power wire plugged in and tested the ground itself, not the terminal. The reading gave me 0.3 DCV, like usual, so I took the negative probe off and grounded it to one of my seat bolts... BAM! 12.46 DCV! Also, I decided not to go ghetto with the power wire off the fuse box, so I bought more KnuKonceptz 4ga and a 4-4 wire connector. I now have a full run from the battery into the extended portion of my cab. I took out the ground, had to expand the terminal size for the ground, grounded it to the seat bolt, hooked up the battery, turned the ignition... And saw the red circuit scan light and then the green power-on light! Meanwhile, I made a box (0.88 ft^3 sealed) for my hand-me-down, but brand new Polk Audio DB1240 SVC 4 ohm. It was a perfect match for my amp when bridged, ran about 415w RMS to it, and the sound quality of my truck now is just beautiful! This Polk blends so well with the Type-R's it's crazy. I'll have to post a link to the video here soon, I'd just like to thank you guys for the help!
  5. Awesome, thanks for the advice! I'll read up on gate resistors, mosfets, and other stuff about amps. Like I said above, I'm not an amp guy lol

  7. A friend of mine dropped off this amp at my house today. It's a Memphis 16-MC1000D, 2-channel 1 ohm stable. He said it powers up just fine and ran the living hell out of two 12" RF P2's but when he pulled it to replace the amp that is in his car now, he has power, but no sound? From the looks of the gutz, it looks like it means business. I told him I'm not much of an amplifier repair guy, I build boxes and re-cone subs more than anything else. So, I'm here to ask for your guys' input on what may cause this problem? I carefully opened the case to check for any burns or broken connections, but I couldn't really find anything. I did notice a slight burnt smell though. Here's some pics I just now took... Enjoy! Also, how hard would it be to replace the part(s) to make it work? I would love to gain some knowledge on how exactly an amplifier works and such. It's something I've been meaning to study up on, but never really understood it.
  8. Here's mine! Sorry for the mess by the way, my mom, stepdad, and stepbrother like to toss their unused, unwated crap in my private quarters The blue Sportster is my friend's, the red one is his brother's. Unfortunately this is after I sold my pro-mod YZ 125
  9. I've got a pretty nice one myself, not to brag or anything lol. I'll grab a picture off Facebook here in a minute, I'm on my iPod. I've got a 60" pioneer flatscreen with an HDMi conversion, 250G Xbox 360 Slim w/kinect (not pictured), full 500w 5.1 pioneer surround sound partially homemade lol, two couches and a sectional free on craigslist, space heater, autographed Kottonmouth Kings/Big B/Tech N9ne posters, and a LOT more stuff. I add to it every now and again lol ditched one of the couches for a futon
  10. That's no joke, cartunes (a shop here in town) $25 for my 12ft of 4ga alone! I got all of that stuff in the first picture for $25 shipped from knukonceptz! I realize CCA wire isn't as conductive as OFC because it's mostly aluminum, but that's part of why knu uses a thinner jacket to allow a higher stran count. Otherwise it would be the same as 8ga, but a little larger than that if it makes sense
  11. He was saying that it is "real", what do you mean by "real"? The KCA Kable from knukonceptz is 90% aluminum and 10% copper, making it more affordable @ 95c / ft
  12. Rebel, I'm realize knu wiring isn't real, but they do make very good wire by trying to balance it and make it comparable to OFC wiring by utilizing a thinner, tougher jacket, and a higher strand count. Of course though, anything is better than what I had! XD
  13. Thanks for the replies, I am going to either order more KCA Kable or just go to my local shop and get real 4 ga wire. And I could understand the computer issues, but one of my friends has his hooked up to the fuse box as well and has had it that way for about 3 years now with no problems
  14. Ok I'm in a bit of a pickle here. It seems like if there's not one problem with my truck, there's another. I just got my package from knukonceptz.com today containing my 12 feet of 4 ga KCA Kable, GM battery terminal, and gold ring terminals. I made the mistake of not getting enough wire or measuring first how much I would need, so I didn't have enough to get from my battery safely and securely into the steering shaft grommet on the firewall, and into my amp without being short, so I went to the next source of +12V power. I connected my power wire to the fuse box using the same terminal as the wiring that comes directly off of the battery. I have had to do this more than a few times for friend's cars who didn't purchase enough wire and it worked just as good as using the positive post of the battery. After doing so, I took a reading from my DMM and put the ground on a bare-metal area of my chassis, then put the positive lead on the end of the wire after I installed my fuse block. It read 12.4 DCV, but when I plugged it into my amp and with the ignition on and off, it read 0.3 DCV? I checked my remote wire, it was reading 11.3 DCV when switched. I also thoroughly inspected the guts of my amp to make sure nothing was disconnected or burned, and didn't find anything unusual. I also took my test light to the negative terminal of the amp with power and ground installed, and the light lit up for a second then dimmed out in a quick manner. There are two outcomes I'm thinking about this: 1) My inline fuse is 80A, and the total amperes of my amplifier equals 50A (2x 25A). Could the inline fuse be too big? 2) My ground wire is too small. It's the crappy old American Legacy "4 ga OFC" my friend bought for me. Knukonceptz 4 ga wire is actually about 10% larger than that of standard 4 ga due to it's CCA construction to compensate for OFC 4 ga load capacity) Comparing the two brands of 4 ga wire, the American Legacy looks more like 10 ga wire. Could this be a problem? Thanks guys, here's some pics I love getting new stuff in the mail Knukonceptz.com 4ga KCA Kable The wire on the left is American Legacy "4ga OFC". It is the same strand count as the ground wire that is currently in my truck. And on the right, of course, is the KCA Kable And finally, here's the gutz of my amp. Nothing looked burned or disconnected when I looked at it prior to purchase (got in on Craigslist). It is only temporary though. If you think you have a solution, please let me hear it. I'm really excited to finally have a system again after going through a painful, treble-filled year after I sold my Rockford HX2 / Kicker ZX500.1
  15. Looking for some 4 AWG power wire, if you got any for sale let me know, money from PayPal should be in pretty soon!

  17. LMFAO!!! She's 18 too, and like I said I don't really think about that when I'm around her... It's like she has a firewall to prevent my gutter-minded thoughts! I thought I was a "tough guy" inside and out, but turns out I have a soft heart which I haven't decided if it's a good thing or bad Hahah!
  18. Allow me to bold "psycho bitch", there are PLENTY of those in Wichita! I dated a chick sophomore year who fit that perfectly. I used to race motocross every weekend so I went out for a practice sesh on a Friday (it's good to have friends that will prep a closed track just for you!) and she got SO, SO pissed I didn't take her that she called one of my boys she didn't even know and demanded that he picked up and drove her 22 miles to a track she wouldn't even have gotten into... Then she REFUSED to let me break it off, so I split. Lol
  19. Oh yeah that reminds me, she LOVES ink! She likes my work and I like hers haha Yeah I spent most my high school days just being a kid and now it's biting me in the ass when it comes to school.. Glad I'm fixing that though!
  20. Lol they're on my iPod, I'll have to send them to my email and grab them off my computer. I'll have to get a pic of her system too if she doesn't sell it. I showed her some videos of the numbers Sundown Audio SA series were pulling and now she wants a Z=10 and a DC amp
  21. So I met this chick a few weeks ago. She's awesome, a complete bass-head just like me, she's running a 12" Orion HCCA on a Kicker ZX750.1, and she wants me to make her a box (I guess my boxes are starting to have an impact on the West side of town lol). Just overall an awesome girl to me. I am more the type of guy to keep to myself if you know what I mean. I don't have a whole lot of friends anymore, didn't really have an interest in women (unless it was for one night! ), all I was ever really focused on was school and audio. Every penny I got, I spent on audio. Anyway, this girl completely changed my mind. Don't worry guys, as long as I'm breathing I will never give up my audio addiction! The weird thing is, when I'm with her, I don't think about the stuff I usually thought about when I hang out with a girl... I'm pretty sure you know what I mean there. I'm not sure if I should be scared or happy? This has never happened before and I'm not sure if it's for the best or worse. Anyone else ever feel like this? In such a short time at least?
  22. I'm in dire need of a job, I have been unemployed for well over a year now and I'm just not doing very well. I've been building boxes and doing installs on the side just to keep my head above water. I am looking for any job available, but it would be a gift from the Lord himself if I could get a position as a box builder or installer. I'm 18, very well educated, as far as schooling goes I will be honest and say I have made some mistakes. I dropped out my Junior year but later on I decided installing is what I wanted to do for the remainder of my years, so I went back to school. I'm in the process of my Diploma right now, but my hours are very flexible as I can also do schoolwork from home. I do have quite a few very positive references from my enclosure builds and installs if you would like me to provide them, I've been building boxes and doing installs since I was 13, but I also studied on anything and everything audio related since 12. I am just in desperate need of a job to support myself, pay my mom back or at least help with bills till I get my own place, my dogs, and my audio addiction lol. If anyone knows of any opportunities, please PM me. I am still under the roof of my mother's house, and it kills me to think of how much of a burden I must be to her right now. I also have a little sister that currently lives with my mom and I and her d*ckhead dad makes $25k+ a month (his daddy owns the biggest Ford dealer... I mean "stealer-ship" in the Midwest) and is not willing to take more than $1,150 out of his paycheck to help my mom, sister, and (at my mother's will) myself and then has the sac to say "he gets overdrawn before the end of every month". My mother is also unemployed and she's been out of work for years. Like I said above, if you know of any openings or opportunities anywhere, please PM me asap. Your help will be greatly appreciated... Thanks!
  23. I'm about to start building my box as I have already gotten recommended airspace requirements and built a 3D model on Google Sketchup. My "rough draft" so to speak is 0.832 ft^3 @ 38.67hz. Here's my problem, would this be a sufficient enclosure for what I'm doing now? I listen to a lot of rap, dubstep, So.Cal "trip-hop", Lil Wyte, etc... There's a lot of lows in what I listen to and from what I've heard and read about the SA-8's is that they have stoopid low-frequency extension and can put out very impressive numbers in the right enclosure with the right power. I'd like to be able to reach those "stoopid low" notes, but still be able to retain a lot of SPL to show up some of my friends with dual 10" and 12" setups! My amp is only temporary, possibly just to get me through the break in period. It's an SPL Audio Z2X-820 and says it does 820w RMS bridged at 2-ohm, but I doubt it. It's only got two 25 amp fuses, but like I said it's only temporary. I'm hoping once Christmas is through I can get my AudioQue AQ750 and run that instead until I've saved up for my SA-8D2v.2 wall. Any suggestions on a tuning frequency coupled with the amp I have now?
