  1. No carpet as of yet. Lazy probably. I did shoot a vid though. It might be interesting to see what the sub/enclosure could do on more power.
  2. They spec at .17 each. So that needs to be .34. Im having a hard time getting your desired volume with those box dimensions. Is that the max room that you have available?
  3. Just a quick update on the evolution of this little project... I traded out the 8's via Craigslist a few weeks back. This came about because I had a brief stint running a buddies 15 inch P3 that he had layin around. The 15 was not only so much better at reproducing low notes(obviously), but the 300.1 seemed to be holding its own against its new watt hungry load. So an ad was placed... And after multiple dead end text sessions and empty promises, I was finally presented an Oxygen Audio OWP12.4. It was in a tiny sealed box with a couple of dings to the metal cone, but the research done said that this sub was their top of the line from a couple of years ago. So I pulled the trigger, and a new box had to be built. The previous box's amp wiring was a complete spaghetti mess, so I made sure to clean it up on this build. Ive also upgraded my power supply to 4 gauge, but still stock power otherwise. There is still a small bit of trim work yet to do before carpeting, but it is pretty darn close to done. Net volume is 2.15ish with 13 sq in of port. Tuned to 32hz. Still a tiny build I know... But still fun to mess around with just the same. It gets down pretty good, and I may end up taking some new vids. P.S. I would also like to know what others think of my long narrow ports? Im no expert builder and I dont know if they are less efficient or not, but they sound pretty damn clean. Im open to others thoughts on this. Thanks for looking.
  4. Thanks everybody for the kind words. There's some space on the backside of both towers between them and the back seats. When I get around to cleaning up the wiring, I will post up a pic.
  5. while i realize this is pretty weak, im going to post this up of me trying to move air. haha.
  6. Thats it for the box. Im already scheming a way to shoehorn in some DC Lvl 2 10's in the same footprint using the open space over the wheel wells. But that will be for later. Here is yesterdays bass knob install.
  7. Now why on earth would someone post up a build log for something this small? I have a house, 2 kids, and a piece of land Id like to put a house on sometime, so there is not alot of money for car audio in my budget. But I managed to find some deals to get me started in to the car audio realm again after a decade long hiatus. Equip: Kenwood KDC-MP345U Punch 300.1 2 Rockford P1S4-8s Shitty 8 guage amp kit The subs were seperated because I need to be able to fold the seats down to haul bigger stuff around for work. The enclosures are tuned to 37hz.
  8. I have 4 vehicles exactly the same in the garage due to some error pages during setup. I cant find a way to delete the extra 3 of them. help please.
  9. If you are starting to get serious with car audio, you should read every "pinned" thread of the Subs/Enclosure forum. There are ideas abound.
  10. Thanks. Yeah, a 15 is probably a no go. haha. Im really happy with the tuning and it sounds great, even on the lows. Just doesn't move a ton of air. but thats to be expected for only 2 8's on a P300.1.
  11. finally got around to wrapping the box in carpet today. just have to touch up the black in the port and she's all done.
  12. bump. going to start making dust tomorrow. anybody else?
  13. Probably not the best design out there, but this should do the trick. I guessed on the displacement cause a quick search yielded nothing.
  14. As long as its the lows that are louder, I dont see a problem. In all seriousness, should I be designing closer toward 2.66 for better all around response?
  15. Ported. tuned to 32Hz. What do you mean by "peaky" blown?
  16. I am currently designing a box for 6 RF 15" P3's that will be powered by a T2500. They are dual 4's and will be run in series/parallel @ 1.3 ohms. My question is in regards to net volume. RF manual recommends 2.66 cubes per sub, and I was wondering if it would be ok to go a bit bigger. Say up to 3.25 per sub. What kind of effect might this have given the power being thrown to them? Any input appreciated. Thanks.
  17. find your center point. lock your tape measure at 14 1/4 inches. lay your tape measure so the centerpoint lays at exactly at 7 1/8 inches. pencil mark at 0 and 14 1/4 inches. rotate. repeat. etc. draw circle. use jigsaw to cut out circle. shazam.
  18. You could spend a 100 bucks on a low end aftermarket alpine/kenwood head unit that will likely have ipod/usb hookups, as well as the RCA outputs you are looking for. After all, you havent even spent a dime yet right?
  19. its 3/4, and was laying around in the garage. otherwise might have gone with 1/2.
  20. I started this thread because I had a new idea for the back of my vibe, and while my understanding of enclosures is decent, I have much to learn yet. Anyway, sometimes I have to haul bigger stuff around for my job, so I am constantly having to fold the seats down. This also involves having to move around my box that houses 2 rockford 8" subs. (Thats right, I roll hard with the 8's... single voice coil even. My budget for car audio is tiny.) I figured I might could build something where both speakers are on the outside, leaving the middle area to haul stuff with the seat down. So first I built a quick prototype so I could hear how the actual box will sound. Its at .6 cubes tuned to about 37Hz. I think it sounds great, but wonder what others think about folding the "L" port into an "S" shape to get the length needed for tuning. Am I losing efficiency with this type of design? I figure Im close to about halfway done, and I will probably post more pics when I finish up. Input on the design good or bad appreciated. Thanks for looking.
  21. I tried to search, but perhaps its not working right now, so my apologies as this may have already been covered. Is there a difference in overall performance if 2 subs are in sepearate ported boxes, as opposed to a single larger enclosure? Edited because I noobed out there. heh.
  22. Hi. I am the buddy hoecard was asking for. Figured I would sign up. I am on a shoestring budget, hence the svc 8" subs. I have 2 now, and figured it would be fairly cheap/easy to make the jump to 4 and run em at 1 ohm. I guess Id like to keep my budget at 250 tops. Saw a precision power S850.1D on Amazon for 200. Also wondered if a Rockford Punch PBR300X1 might do a decent job. Doesnt have to be an amazing fit. Just one that doesnt overheat and cut out, etc. Its going in a pontiac vibe fwiw. Thanks
