Possibly needing a new amp
6berry replied to FroznBeavrBALLs's topic in DC Sound Lab - Big Bass on ANOTHER LEVEL!
well im a college student so i know about being on a budget. i was trying to help him keep his cost low while still getting the most out of his subs. the aq1200 would only be getting 435 watts to each subs whereas an aq750 would give 750 watts to each sub. why would i be jealous that you know someone who has an aq1200?? -

yes generally a bigger box will play lows better but with the same port tuning it wouldnt be much of a difference. yeah for your current build you could either change your order to a d4 sub so you can run the aq1200 at 2 ohms for now or keep it d2 and run an aq750 for now and then get another when you get your second sub. if you use the aq1200 with 2 d2 subs then youll only be getting 870 watts from the amp. -

i dont think he should go with the 1200 though because his sub is a d2 so with 2 subs he would be at 2 ohms. OP, i would recommend the aq750 and then when you get another subs, get another amp -

Sound deadner
6berry replied to smitty2919's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
go to the second skin section on here and you will see plenty of threads about peal and seal and how it isnt an effective sound deadener. It works for mass loading which isnt effective as the principle second skin uses which is as a constraint layer damper. -
Sorry i posted that on my phone so I didnt put too much info about it. Like I said its at an ATV park so theres gonna be tons of mudding, atv pulls, atv trails, music going on the whole time, monster trucks, freestyle motorcross, and all kinds of stuff going on. if theres enough interest i could see if we could put on some kind of bass competition! if anyones is from around there and would be interested in competing or helping with it then hit me up and ill see what i can do

a jl W7 is more for sq than spl so between that, you having more cone area, and 3 times the power you should blow him away. you should give him a demo before the comp but turn ur gain way down just to give him some false hope -
yeah i wasnt really sure of those either but they should be good with huge roundovers in the corners. and there wasnt really any other way to do it without it being a weird shape

here's a design I made for a Boston Acoustics G5 12. Its a 4th order/t-line hybrid tuned to 38 Hz with 1 cube on the sealed side. Let me know what you think of it or if you think itll work good! edit: if i made it i would put 12" sonotube quarters in each corner

the level 2's can handle around 500 clean watts maybe more if you know what youre doing. 400 would get the level 3's moving pretty good. ported boxes do take up more space than sealed boxes but not much more and ported boxes will generally always get louder.

i would go with the level 3's so you can have room to upgrade later on. also i would recommend you switch to a PORTED box. youll probably love it so much more. edit: fixed! ported not sealed
