Dropped my younger brother off at school this morning, multiple cops w/ vests and dogs. I asked a faculty member what was going on and she said the school has increased it's private security and requested the presence of officers while parents drop off their kids in the wake of the Newtown school shooting. Is this really where we are now? Armed guards and security checks for students. I never thought I would see that.

I still don't like the idea of armed police officers or even armed plain clothes security in the school. The tuition at his high school is more a year than it cost me to go to my university it sucks that now some of that money goes to pay for this kind of safety.

Would you rather that safety not be there? Come on, man, there are some sick fucks out there, gotta do what it takes to protect the kids.

I don't mind the safety at all because some of my brothers classmates have affluent parents so they have private security that conceal. It becomes an issue for me when I see guns clearly displayed it's just really unnerving for me. I don't mind at all that security is carrying I just don't want to see it.
