  1. pitbullninja, it all comes down to how much you want to spend and how hard you want an installation to get, for $70 you can get well balanced full range sound and easy installation.

    There is no denying that you can improve over them, the best way to know is to go and hear a few 6x9s and 6.5" components to get some idea of their differences.

  2. My point is that 6.5" components lack midbass, the only components that really sound great are those with 7"-8" midbass drivers.

    6x9s give great midbass, if you are not a SQ guy you not be bothered by their sound at all.

They have a long history of reliability issues, poor sound quality, malfunctioning peripherals and the xplod series has been stellar at that and you can dismiss specs, even if really had 120dB SNR, in a car environment that is good for nothing, it's too much to say that a particular model from them will be good or bad but there are so many alternatives that I wouldn't bother to take any chances.
