  1. I had somewhat of the same problem with my last box, in the sense that I didn't think about the port being split down the middle. Like was said above, the width of that section along the back wall should be half the width of the main port section. I think it might also help to have a piece of wood with 45s back there to help direct the air out of the port as well.

  2. Hey guys, I've went ahead and ordered my ZCON 12 this past week and I was just wanting some additional advice on box size. I'm going to be running the BRZ2100.1D at 1 ohm, so the sub should see right around 2100 watts. The sub has an RMS rating of 2250 watts. It will be inverted in the trunk of my Cavalier (better cooling/thermal handling?), and my maximum box dimensions will be 14.5Hx34Wx20D. I have plenty of space to work with, but I was just wondering what sort of net box space I should be looking for since I'll be running right around RMS to the sub.

    SSA recommends 1.75-2.5 ft^3 ported, or 2.5-3.25 ft^3 ported optimal. I was planning on doing 2.4 ft^3 with probably 39 in^2 (13Hx3W) or 42.25 in^2 (13Hx3.25W) of port area.

I just want some opinions on whether or not I should make the box smaller since I'm running near RMS power, or what. I'll be sending them an email as well but just figured I might as well see if there are any ZCON owners with previous experience to offer. Thanks!

  3. You open Audacity, drag the track in, highlight any section of the song where the bass hits for at least 5 seconds length, then go to "Analyze" at the top of Audacity, then "Plot Spectrum".

EDIT: Or you can just not bother learning how to do it and have other people do it for you! I kid, I kid...

  4. My dad originally bought this amp as part of an entire enclosure that MTX offered I believe 6 or so years ago. It pushed the 2 MTX 12s it came with for ~4 years, until I blew one of them (have learned so much since then) and has been pushing 2 Kicker Comp 12s for the past year and a half I think. Here's the description on the MTX site: http://store.mtx.com/caraudio/products/amplifiers/RTP251D.cfm

    Now onto some pics B)

Here's a pic of the outside (can't find one of it by itself): http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/405408_2735129530140_1014379508_32902904_392703208_n.jpg

And here are a few pics of the actual guts:

This amp still works to this day and I'm actually thinking of using it to power a T-Line at some point in the future for my dad's Magnum or something like that.

  5. Ok next question...when planning out a ported box...say you want a 2 cubic foot box at 35hz... do u figure out the sub and port displacement and build the box a little bigger so that way when it's all said and done the sub actually has 2 cubes of free air space ...or do u just build a 2 cube box and call it good with what ever free air space is actually there??? Def a noob question I kno but u gotta work out the links to build something good ;)

You do still want 2 cubes of free air space inside the box after taking out any displacements (port, subs, bracing, etc).

  6. Hey guys, just wondering before I order myself some but what is the difference between these two sets of ring terminals:

    http://www.darvex.com/store/pc/10-Stinger-0-Gauge-Ring-Terminals-22p334.htm#details

    http://www.darvex.com/store/pc/10-Stinger-0-Gauge-Ring-Terminals-22p341.htm#details

I know that the first says: "24K gold plated finish for maximum power transfer" and the second says "Shoc-Krome plated finish for maximum power transfer", but what is the difference between these two makeups? Any differences performance-wise, or would one be better to solder to? I will be soldering my 1/0 instead of crimping if that helps. Thanks =)

  7. Thank you guys for the info! I really had no idea how crappy the install is, glad you told me will have to try and fix that. I'm assuming that it will need more fuses and a better Alt if I am to get full power out of this amp, is that correct? Can I do the ground move myself? Have no knowledge of installing. Glad I came on here I might actually learn something =)

It's nice to see somebody who is willing to actually learn rather than tell us to f off. The reason your amp won't put out a full 4k is because that's most likely a "peak power" rating. These ratings are bs. You will want to go by RMS ratings of everything you use, including subs and amps. These are the true power ratings.

I think steps 8-12 contain info on how to ground properly in this thread: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/13280-how-to-do-the-big-3-tutorial/

  8. Thanks to everyone that took advantage of the Group Buy. A big thanks to Ram and Audio Savings for holding the group buy!

    No, thank you!

What? Its over?!! I came on here a while back and i saw where it said they would be having this sale until towards the end of April. So i came back on here to look, ready to make a order, and its over already??!! This SUCKS!!!!

It's been in the title for at least a week or two that the end date would be April 13th. Sorry to hear you missed it though =/
