  1. MTX RTP251D. I believe it's discontinued or whatever it's called, but my dad got it back in 2006 as part of a deal MTX had going on. 2 12s in a sealed carpeted box with this amp for a few $100. It still works to this day and I've even got a few pictures of it!

Here's what the entire MTX enclosure looked like when we first got it too: http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/assets/ProductImages/MTX_RTP212.jpg

The amp has been passed down to me and I plan on keeping it until I upgrade to something bigger!

  2. Favourite? Are you from another country but living in Florida?

Yeah BeatBox basically hit the nail in the head except the Documentary.

    Add:

    Nelly "Country Grammar"

    T.I. "Urban Legend"

    Young Buck "Straight Outta Ca$hville"

    Jay-Z "The Blueprint 2"

2Pac "All Eyez On Me", "Better Dayz"

    Mac Dre "Ronald Dregan"

Ya Boy "Rookie of the Year"

San Quinn "The Rock: Pressure Makes Diamonds"

    Turf Talk "Westcoast Vaccine"

    Shady Nate "Gasman Unleashed"

    Philthy Rich "Trip'n 4 Life"

That's all I can think of off the top of my head

Lived in FL my entire life, the spelling has just been "acquired" from when I used to play online games (was a UK-based game). Nice music choice though, lots of good songs in there! And plenty more to check out too

  3. Ok im attempting to get 2 subs from dc audio level. Xlm2 15 inch..powered by a crescendo 55 or35.. my question is for a trunk with 20.2 capacity ... Would these subs work or should i look into diff subs that will take less space......ssa zcon or dc xl

20.2 cubic foot capacity would be good enough for at least 3 18s

  4. Hands All Over (Maroon 5), Greatest Hits (Creed), Friday Night Lights (J. Cole), Free Wired (Far East Movement), The E.N.D. (Black Eyed Peas), Disc-Overy (Tinie Tempah), Lazarus (Travie McCoy), Loose Dirt (Klaypex), a bunch of country CDs, and my mix CDs.

I was looking at Disc-Overy before, it actually looked pretty good. Will probably end up getting it eventually just a matter of time now. How do you like the rest of The E.N.D. though? Haven't listened to anything on that one other than the first 5 songs

  5. Simply put, what are your favourite CDs? Ever since I started buying CDs I've noticed that there are more songs on them than just the "mainstream" ones that get the most radio time, etc. So if you've got any CDs that you think are noteworthy, post away!

My personal favourites (in no specific order) are:

-The Eminem Show by Eminem. I remember listening to this in my portable CD player back in middle school/early highschool right up until I got my first iPod. Really got me into Eminem and ever since then I've been a huge fan

-All 6s And 7s by Tech N9ne. Originally bought this because of Worldwide Choppers and then after listening to it a few times it's become one of my favourites.

Got a few more CDs coming in from Amazon so maybe E-40 will make it into this list in the next week or so as well :P

Looking forward to reading about all of your favs!

I tried taking a screenshot of Hustle Hard by Ace Hood and I have it zoomed in 12x in Audacity. The track on top is the song, the portion on the bottom is where I added a 45Hz tone. You can see on the top track that instead of being wavy like the tone I generated, it's flat at places where the bass hits.

I'm not sure how to best describe this, but I think this is the harmonic distortion that Decaf was talking about on tracks produced by Lex Luger

  7. k, so I guess I assumed something going into this prebuild that I guess I shoulda asked....

so im at www.The12Volt.com and im trying to figure out the port specs for tuning.... well that calc is setup for a ported box... not what im doing... So do I

    1. Use the OVERALL box ³ to figure out port...

2 Use the Sealed chamber to figure out port...

    3. Use the ported chamber to figure out port...

I got the new (REAL) measurements so i'd like to get this figured out :)

K, so if its PEAKIER at say.... 46Hz then anything beyond + or - 10Hz wont be *clean??

The way I understand it, and somebody correct me if I'm wrong, is that the farther away from the resonant frequency you go, it'll start getting quieter. Not dirty or anything, just not as loud as it could be if it was more musical/flatter

  8. Before I reply to anybody, I forgot to mention that I was thinking of doing a removable port so the original tuning would be higher than when I put the removable port it. So more port area/cu ft and higher tuning w/out removable port in (peakier), and less port area/cu ft and lower tuning with the removable port in (more musical?). So I would originally tune it to somewhere between 30-35Hz, and then with the removable port in try calculating it to have a tuning of mid 20Hz's or something for when I listen to stuff that gets low.

Now that everybody knows this, how does this sound?

    __________

O you mean low enough that its just worthless. No sound coming out just pressure. the whole i wanna sub that plays in the teens is so damn pointless unless you just wanna blow mo ey eventually fixing things that break. And bumping test tones.

Go back and read. I like listening to C&S stuff. And what do you mean blowing money eventually fixing things that break? And as for test tones, when did I say anything about those? Think you read the wrong thread...

And getting loud low in a trunk??

I know I won't be doing 50's or anything, I just meant that I'm looking to be able to play low but still be loud around those lower frequencies. The box I've got right now is tuned to 32Hz but is hella peaky around my resonant frequency (low 50 Hz) and seems to not be as loud when I play below 40Hz. I even re-measured after I built the box and all and it's still got a tuning of ~32, I just built it with a port area/cu ft of 16.something. So when I said loud and low I was looking for some advice on how I'd build the box to seem more "musical" instead of peaky. Sorry for any confusion

Nearly anything can play well down to 25hz with the right box...it's really not hard to get low, since you're going to have to sacrifice overall output in order to do so. How much you have to sacrifice will pretty much be the only difference.

Yeah, that's what I've seen is some people who have boxes tuned to low 30 Hz's can play songs that dip into low 20s perfectly fine without having to turn the volume down, and at RMS rating of the sub. Any tips for designing a box that would allow me to play this much lower than tuning frequency?

  9. Great responses so far, but if I'm going to be playing songs that dip into low 20s would that be safe with a box tuned to 30Hz? I don't think I've got the room for a 4th order in my trunk, only a ported box so should I just try to make the box bigger and keep the port area per cu ft small?

  10. I'm looking for a list of subs (not comparisons) that can play down to mid 20 Hz's or even lower. I don't really know how to go about finding this for myself. I've done some reading and have an idea that maybe it's based on the Fs spec of a woofer but I still don't know for sure.

I've heard suggestions that the Fi SP4 and the SSA Zcon would both be great candidates, but why?

Another question that I had is about playing below tuning frequency. I know that it's not recommended to do, so that's why I'm looking to tune my box to mid or low 20s. I love chopped and screwed music and am looking to be loud and low basically. No competing, just looking for a daily driver setup that I can jam to on a daily basis.

So if anybody can help me out with these few things then that'd be much appreciated. Thanks! :drinks:

EDIT: I'm headed off to bed now so that I can finish up some homework before work tomorrow, so hopefully I can get some good feedback between now and then :)
