  1. Just installed some gear in my new daily driver, and as luck would have it, it looks like my battery is starting to give up. It's pretty old, so I have no complaints. I will list what I am working with and hopefully someone can tell me what is the best direction to go in.

    2004 Toyota Corolla

    Stock alternator

    SKAR Audio RP-75.4AB

    RMS Power @ 4 ohms : 75 watts x 4 (14.4v)

    SKAR Audio RP-1500.1D

    RMS Power @ 2 ohms : 930 watts x 1 (14.4)

I installed 1/0 cable from the battery to the amplifiers when I put them in.

What do you suggest/offer in the way of a battery? Any direction is greatly appreciated.

if you can fit it i would suggest a single d3100.

  2. The kid whos sub caught on fire doesn't know what the fuck he is doing.. Did anyone know that he smoked 2 amps before the sub even went and had no clue as to why.. So you smoke an amp.. get it back then smoke it again.. then gets it back then set sub on fire..

yeaa it was a taramps 8k. It blew again the day before the sub ignited, so he had other amps on it. Iirc 2 AQ2200Ds at .7 per.

But one of his local, personal friends messaged me the day it happened.. Apparently he clips, bought the subs used, subs had sewn leads, had 18awg on subs, and the list goes on.

Tell your friend that is his friend that he doesn't know what the fuck he is doing. That it is NOT the subs fault. That he needs to stop clipping..

    :ninja:

I dont recall blaming the subs, but i agree... clipping didnt help anything haha

you should look again.. he did..

I would venture to say there is not a single person who has clipped a fi sub hard then i have.. and i have NEVER had a fire.. EVER..and people know how hard i play my car and push those subs to the limits. and i have naded some leads.. oh well.. maybe next time he can get the fi subs with the no fire option

  6. :deadhorse: not to beat a dead horse...but I have a d3400 under the hood, and a d3400 in the back as reserve. I now know that the xp series is more ideal for a reserve batt. but the d series isn't bad right? In the future when I upgrade, just like everyone else eventually...would I be okay adding xp series to the reserve along with my d3400, or should I try to sell the d3400, and just go with all xp series for the bank?

You'd be fine just adding other batteries. Make no difference having D series and Xp batteries in your bank unless you want to get OCD about it :P

Just to clarify the XP series as a starter battery though, I want to say I read they're just not meant for under the hood use because they are not as tolerant of heat as the D series are. The D series are built beefier and are able to be used BOTH under the hood AND in a bank. The XP series is ONLY to be used in a bank, away from the heat of the engine. I'm pretty sure you'd be fine running an XP series battery as your singular main starting battery as well, I had one XP3000 as the only battery in my Cavalier for a while a couple of years ago before I beefed up my bank and it worked just fine. The only difference being it was in the trunk, NOT under the engine.

Tl;dr-D series able to be used under the hood and in the back in a bank; XP series for locations away from heat ONLY(such as trunk, interior of vehicle, NOT under the hood).

    umm

    1) do not use an xp battery as a starting even through someone said they did it and it was o k for them.

    2) please see #1

    3) The d series batteries are just fine. Please go to the first page and read my small write up i did comparing both in real word.

    thanks

  7. ill help yo uout real quick

d3100 can be used as starting and will give you more instant power

xp3000 cannot be used as starting batt and will have more reserve

    so...

in my appilcation i had 2 xp3000s.. what happend was that i was able to go from 13.2v down to 11.2v and hold that voltage ( demo) for about 30 minutes

    swapped to d3100s

voltage went from 13.2v down to 11.8 but i was only able to demo for say 10 minutes

i have more instant power but couldnt hold that power longer with the d3100

the xp3000 my voltage was lower but i was able to sutain that power for longer

    / end story

Let me make a quick edit...

when i say demo for 30 minutes i ment until i knew the batteries were completely dead going from normal voltage ( 11.2 with xp3000's and 11.8 with d3100s) to scary voltage ( 10.7 with xp3000s and 11.0 with d3100s)...

    end
