Lol The only thing I'll be cutting is the Corner pieces and the speaker cutouts. So I don't mind the additional cutting, Home depot will be doing it on their panel saw. Thinking about using a tow strap for holding the pieces together. Well I honestly don't need clamps or stuff. What I normally do is, make sure it's all good and aligned. Put wood glue on it, take an air gun, staple it down, take course drywall screws or MDF screws and mount it and let it dry.

I currently have an Back L-port on the box I have in my car right now. I can hear a little port noise, so I don't like it, could be because it was built poorly...but..I shall. PS: You should send me that clamp you got...too cheap to buy one =))

Okay thanks for all your opinions, I've made up my mind and I'm going with the first design.. I think it'd look better, and based on some of your suggestions, it will sound better and I will be able to just cut out my middle seat cover so that the port can fire into the cabin and the subs will fire towards the seat. I will be having the amp mounted in the back with a yellow top optima battery in there as well. (I know XS power and Stinger is a much better choice, but this is a budget build). Gonna have home depot cut most of the wood so I have an all equal cut, so I can't mess up with my normal saw..(Stupid safety protection thing keeps causing me to jerk over an 1/16" when it finally disengages.. Okay, I'm going to look for that thread right now because I'm going to be cleaning out my car soon and install the dynomat I will be getting soon. My ear-o-meter says I'm pushing 200+ DB's though lol I did notice a difference though switching from number 2 to number 1. I think it might have just been the fact that I took my time with it and I had minimal imp. rise. Wired down to .5 ohm, clamped at just under 1 ohm with rise. My first box was a rush job and I was around 1.75 ohm with rise. yeah, I'm going to be running my subs at 2 ohms on a brutus 2400.1D amplifer

Yeah, I was going to use MDF as well...but by taking out my 3 10s in my trunk, I'm hoping it'll eliminate some of the weight issues. So I may go with some birchwood, depending on the price range on them. Also I was referring to like adding glass to the box or similar stuff like how I've seen some of the members on here doing it. (there was a thread on here about what will increase your dBs, but I can't find it.) Yeah I know what you're saying. Less work...but not as good sounding as the first.

yeah it's going in my trunk, I might go to the junkyard to find a back seat, cut out the center piece, and point the subs towards it, so the port fires into the cabin of the vehicle. I want to be able to mount my back seat down so that it doesn't move, so no one can steal the subs unless the remove the mountings. I'm going to mount the amplifier in the back along with the second battery (I'm going to use special screws so no one can just steal my amp either) The box will be also mounted down with 2 threaded 13" long threaded rods through the bottom of the box and screwed on the bottom of the vehicle's frame.

Oh sorry, I thought I put the sub size. They're going to be 12's....my buick has only met 10's and I wanted her to meet a different size once before she finally gives in.

Anything you'd recommend doing different in the design to make it sound better.. like materials and such? Yeah, I only tuned it to 33hz so I can get the best from both worlds, rock/rap/techno/dubstep.

Okay I am getting 2 DC level 3 w/ Level 4 softparts in 2 weeks and I want to get started on a box on Friday. I'm just indesicive on what design I want to go with, so I want some opinions. I already know the T line box (Picture one) is going to be better for the subs, but the L port one looks sick as fuck (Plus I'll have some wood left over to make myself an amp rack. Which would you choose to go with?

Lmao...this sounds like what happened to my rockford prime 6x9s...too much power ran through the stock speaker wire and literally melted the plastic off the wire. That speaker no longer works. The problem with my 6x9s....I had them wired the wrong way.

I just finished this box today, box is tuned to 32 hz, It's for 2 alpine SWR-1043D. iOnly thing I didn't do was the bracing because I believe it doesn't need any. My router bit broke on me so I had to use a jigsaw for the cutouts. Added red oak trimming around the port because I think it makes the box stick out some more, the bad ass effect. (An excuse for not having a sharp enough razor blade causing me not being able to cut straight around the port.)

I'll prob just go all the way around it with dry wall screws then.. 1 3/4 inch. Yup, I sometimes use 2" to be safe. the only store that carries MDF screws around me is about 25miles away from me.
