Set according to your old school tracks and turn down the sub level on your head unit a few notches when you play decaf
LOL!!! Occasionally I remember to turn down the bass on the HU :-) Usually I just don't turn up the volume to the peak DD-1 setting when on decaf.
Thanks for the info

And my problem of quiet tracks comes from late 80's early 90's bass cd's. Decaf is fine, old school is quiet

Well I plan on beating the crap out of my SP4's so they will get -10db and door compnents -5db and probably -7.5db on midbass.
One last question : will the voltage be the same at -0db vs -5db?
-
I understand wattage will have many factors. But again. lets say I have a song thats hard to hear with a -0db tune. And then I tune at -5db and the song is much louder, what makes the the song louder? Is it wattage? is it the gains up higher running clean at -5db with some distortion and clipping at -0db?
-
I'm at -10db and I play songs from -3 to -7db so am I clipping then..
Can someone answer this question??

How about 18" of 4" aero port with on 1.5 cubes.
-
Also, what power are you running?
-
Gotcha. Yeah, enclosure design is ridiculously important, in fact I'd say it's literally the most important thing. I dunno what kind of enclosure you could build to make them reach limits on 1k (Infinite baffle?) but I'm sure it could be done. Well anyway, good luck with the build, hope all goes well!
My question as well. 1k will bottom out these subs?
-
Based on the Xmax of the sub and recommended box volume for 15 that takes a crap load of power. http://www.carstereo.com/help/Articles.cfm?id=31 Not saying a smaller box would fail, the subs just might not perform as well. If I were you I'd hit up CJ and see what he says.
-
You are probably gonna want to go like 4.5-5 cubes with like 100sqin of port per sub at a minimum.
-
You are gonna want more cubes per sub and double the port for the design your trying to do. I am doing something similar with 2 SP4 15's and my cut out will be 48." x 17.75". How much power are you gonna run?

Number 2 is the bomb. Orion used to do lots of non PC fun shirts like that back in the early 90's. I was hoping to hit the order button on it right now. I also like 3 & 5

^^^^^^ LOL!!!!!!!! bad dog

I have an SD-2 10 D2 in a sealed box on an RF P500.2. I play stuff like decaf to drowning pooling and I love the sub. Very impressed for it being a shallow mount sub.
-
You should change the title of this thread since it's not mechman's fault.
-
I wish I had money for an AD-1 then I could test.
-
So lets use an RF 1000bd with a D2 sub wired to 1ohm what kind of wattage difference would be seen when tuning with a DD-1?
would -10db be like 1000w ?
would -5db be like 950w ?
would -0db be like 900w ?

i do smoove works great youll just have to adjust it when it warms back up in the summer to keep the where you want it charging takes like 2 mins to do. i got to order a second one for my dual alt set up
I will have to check it out at the Dec 7 show

Does anyone have these installed? I am looking for a review since I am thinking about purchasing one.
-
Yep, I can't find the video anymore.
-
Tony D dyno'd the T15k. It was his FB. You could probably find the vid on YouTube. Yes it did rated

As CleanSierra has pointed out, not all subs are created equal.
Based on some boxes I have done in my GM ext cab. Sub up/port back (box as center console) and sub up/port side (box on ext cab bench). sub up/port up didnt sound as good. What did you use to come up with your box size and numbers?
-
Real question is, of your not looking to play decaf and stupid lows. Why are you looking at an X series instead of an SA or a Z?? Sundown has different levels of subs, you cant just pick one because it sounds cool.

How much power are you going to be running?
wattage difference at -10db vs -5db vs 0db

I can do 2 settings. easy enough to do. I will have 3 LC-1's, high's, midbass, and subs.
I will be powering under the rms rating of my subs.
