I plan on getting a DC-power Alt at some point, but right now, it's a bit too much money. That said I have to use what I have, and what I have is a 120amp Alt. I'm currently using 2 caps in series. I'm wondering if my alt would charge 2 yellow top Optimas, I'm currently use just one of these below: http://www.autozone.com/autozone/parts/Optima-Battery-Battery/_/N-acy27Z1z13pyx?itemIdentifier=310361_0_0_ Thanks. It's a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo (All bells and whistles of that time, meaning uses more electrical than non-Laredo jeeps). I'm using a 1997 Alt because 1994's don't come in anything higher than 80amps from local stores. HAS BEEN ANSWERED: Current Questions: 1.) how do I wire the 2nd battery? pos->pos and neg->neg? Or alt->pos and both negs->frame? 2.)Is the XS xp950 the same as This Optima? I currently have one of these Optima Batteries, if the xp950 is similar came I put them together?

K if took a box with this design and separated the chambers and where the ports meet, I will be good? I use the Torres Calculator (as best I can). It's given me the manufactors desired tuning and airspace.: Pretend there is some MDF in the middle of the box dividing it. That is an old design.
-
I had a lot of trouble understanding some of this, but it sounds like are saying: 2-chambers, 2-ports?
-
I'm new to making boxes, how do I put them in the same chamber, but with a port between them?
-
I admit that I'm new to the Torres Calculator, but the box looks like 2 common walls. Where does the 3 come from? Not arguing, I'm wanting to learn

Got tons of options for Subwoofers Help me choose!!

My 1 SSD 15" is telling me to tell you to get 2 SSD 15"s -
This is my newest design. but I don't know if I should make it .75" wider and add a piece of MDF to give each sub it's own chamber, or port, or both chamber and port. What would be best? Mono 2400rms @ 1ohm 33hz, Fi SSD 15".

First Box
lagexe replied to lagexe's topic in Member Rides & Builds -- Show off your whip, Show off your System!
I was, but if I get some plans I'll build another and take this one out around Tax Return time. I'll leave it this way for now. The next box will be carpeted. -
First I wanted to say thanks to fmedina. I knew nothing about boxes, and even less about making them. He designed one, and it bumps much harder than anything I've ever heard. I live in a small town, and I can honestly say, I'm the loudest in Commerce. Also thanks to everyone who pushed me toward Fi instead of Rockford. Spoiler, I was trying to only show screws on the bottom and back by using 90degree brackets. That planned changed pretty quickly, but I sounded like a good idea. This is about the point my lady friend and killer dog came to help. I was concern about the weight of the port, so I added some legs to the bottom. Sorry fmedina, didn't see another option. Below you can see the brackets real well. Also, you can see the insane amount of wire. I did cut it down btw Then of course you gotta clean up, We happen to have a special wood disposal Then the finished product. I put feet on the box so I could stash my spare tire. However, I've already taken those off and made a better storage area. I'll try to upload those pics soon. The sub in it, IS NOT the Fi. It's one of my old subs. I'll also get some pics of the Fi Alright, there it is. My first box. Thanks for checking it out. When I build the new box for 2 SSD 15s, I'll post here. I won't be trying to hide my screws there though. I found some fabric that is almost the same color as my interior. That said, I don't care if the screws are showing. They will be hidden.

I currently have one SSD 15, I'll be getting another with tax-return. That said I'll have 2 1000rms subs (a lot of SMD-FU say that is underrated. So which of these amps should I get? http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_22702_Hifonics-HFi2000D.html or http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_32979_Hifonics-HFi3000D.html One will give me 1000per sub, the other about 500rms head room. Also, Is Hifonics a good company? I've only recently came off the mainstream, so I'm wondering if the people on here are fanbois or if it's a good company. Thanks!

Even if wired to 1ohm? Does 2 loads (subs) cut the power (watts) in half? Even still would I get more spl if I went with 2 Dual-1 wired to 1ohm? Right now I'm getting 750watts, if I'm correct I'll either get 2 subs doing 750watts instead of one. However, if my original thought was correct, I would get 2subs doing 1500watts. <--- That is likely wishful thinking.

6Volts vs 2Volts
lagexe replied to lagexe's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
I was thinking this, but figured I would ask. Like <insert name> said, I'm sure the Manufacturer will play a roll in it too. For now, I'm still on a budget, and this 4year Sony sounds good to me, but I'm sure I'll like these "better" head-units more. For anyone wondering I'm getting another Sony, It' has 3 per-outs, and I'm gonna amp everything. (2Rockfords for front and read, MB-Onxy for subs). I liked my old, I just want the pre-outs of this new HU. When taxes get here I might get a better HU, but for now, it sounds good, and I'm happy. Later this year, I'll be upset about the $200 I may or may not have wasted with Sony. Thanks for all the help again! -
6Volts vs 2Volts

A bunch of you answered my questions while I was typing a response. Thank you so much for clearing things up. Some answers conflicted others, but I guess I'll form my own opinion when I get the head unit. Thanks all! -
6Volts vs 2Volts
lagexe replied to lagexe's topic in General Audio - Can't find a category for your question? Ask here.
I understand when distrotion comes into the sound. My question is if 6Volt@6Volt would be cleaner that 2Volts@2Volts? 6Volts needs very little to make sound 2Volts needs a good bit of the sound amplified, but does that offer more distortion than 6Volt@6Volts? It's kind of hard to explain my question, so I hope you guys understand what I'm asking. I'm not asking: When does distortion come into the sound? What level does distortion come into the sound? ----- I am asking: Is 6Volts cleaner, because it doesn't need as much amplifying as 2Volts. -

Thanks, but what exactly do I search for? preout, gain, level? I'm not being a smart-ass, it's just reads that way. -
