  4. its all good. this thread is to help people. but im still not understanding as to what i need to do. im still new to doing this all myself. ive had two shops work on my truck not knowing what they're doing. so im learning right now. so i should be doing the big 3 here pretty soon , but im still not understanding the hole/ alt to starter battery fused.... starter battery to cap fused...... cap to amp fused...
  5. sorry. the pictures were taking at night. kinda hard to get a clear picture with flash. but anyways, what your trying to say is that i need to have 3 fuses?
  6. https://picasaweb.google.com/110622912573002766182/Truck?authkey=Gv1sRgCP2e8sCfurDyLw there a link to my pictures. now i disconnected the red and blue and screwed them together. to give the amp power. now under the hood. i have the alternator running to the battery on the right of the fuse , and a wire comming off of that same bolt to the fuse box . and on the left side of the fuse is the power cord going to the fuse block into the cap.
  7. yeah ill try to get pics up tonight. i hooked the capacitor back up but ill post what wires i took off and hooked together.
  8. im Running a 1600 watt single channel/ im running 2g wire throughout the truck./ id say about 10ft of wire maybe less / and the big 3 hasn't been done yet.
  9. So I posted about two days ago that I have have power loss issues as to where my bass would drown out. The replies that i got said to take out the capacitor , as for it being the problem. well i took out the capacitor and hooked my two positives cords together so it would tie into my amp. i turned on the truck and the bass hit for about 3 seconds and my amp completely turned off . Now what is the problem? ohhh and i checked voltage today. from the alternator to the battery im getting 14 volts. and from the battery to the capacitor i was getting 5 volts. if that helps any
  10. I have no idea as to what kind of battery I have . But ill take out the cap today. I miss my bass.
  11. So This has been happening for the past 2 weeks now. some days the power going to my amp through the capacitor doesn't die off at all, and then there are those days where that bass will only hit for 30 secs before dying down tremendously. i went back and check all the wiring and what i came to find is that my connections (to the main battery) werent clean and had black residue on them. so i cleaned the connections up and then i came to find that the plastic around the positive side of the battery were starting to melt. so i placed 1 of the 3 connections on a different positive charge. well that technique only worked for a couple of days without there being any power loss, so today as i was driving and noticed that the light on my remote bass control under the dash was starting to die down( happened before). so i went back and checked all the connections and everything was clean and had no sign of melting plactics . just wondering what the problem might be. im running 2 gauge wire through the truck for the amp. i have a 1600 watt single channel amp / a capacitor / 2 12" shallow mount 400watt subs. the truck is a 2010 chevy silverado 1500 regular cab.
  12. Lets see what you have . And what are your preferred subs for a 1600 watt single channel
