Thanks man! Starting on the malibu soon?
Hopefully soon, Shit ton of projects going all at the same time. Plus already started decorating for the holidays.
I know how that is. Just had to get some major projects started as well so I can hibernate this winter and finish them up. Im hoping to finish my door panels for the second time lol

Turned my cardboard scrap from earlier into this.
This shows how the box appears to sit flush with the end of the false floor. Really have a bunch of space in between, the carpet is just that thick.
A ton of measuring and planning paid off
wrapped the battery board and made custom brackets to hold the battery snug, still have to paint those even tho they will never be seen.
(also you can kinda see my cable hold down insert piece)
Hmmm how am I going to do this......
Could kerf the wood, But then my sides wont be flat with the box, Those will be removeable so I can have SOME storage
More thinking
Wrapped the side pieces and stuck them in. Just had to get something accomplished. Felt shitty staring at a trunk playing with tape and cardboard lol
Have to sand them a little to fit all the way flush so I can screw them into the box.I think I have found a way.
And fast forward to this past weekend. Had a beautiful sunny day on Saturday, likely the last time I would have the chance to do this on a weekend.
Broke out the Sunflash and every binder clip I could possibly find
After a quick trim just to clean up the excess fabric and I now have another huge project on my hands lol
Ive been glassing the last 2 nights, Im itchy as shit but its starting to look half way decent. Will post pics later when its picture worthy lol
Edit: double post- 1

Ok been doing some on off sanding, need to take advantage of every second of outside time and since this can be done at any time Its going to sit idle for a while.
Outside time where I dont have to rush and get everything inside before it gets wet
Installed that night
This is where I fucked up.
I had that big roll out and cut 2 pieces for the fuse panel board. I know I have to re do it because I dont like the reveal around the cover.Sky was getting nasty and I was in a hurry. Didnt realize I glued it backwards when I did it the next night. Hard to tell but its a shade off and the texture is different. Oh well shit happens.
Also got my fan board wrapped. This carpet is almost 3/8 thick without padding. Some really nice stuff but kinda a bitch to work with.
Scratching my head at how I want to trim out the trunk....
Now with that board on the box its blocking my leds, decided to quick add a strip down below, still need to glue it in place.
Now things finally are taking shape. This is when I stopped and realized ive never actually carpeted a box before. Here goes nothing!
Trimming up the edges and cleaning up the bolt holes for the subs.
Sorry these are so out of focus. I need a damn camera I hate using my phone for everything

When you changed your headlights I was thinking, "how long until he dips the grill" lmao
Looks killer man! -

Ok man. Just my .02 that I will keep to myself from now on.
Still tuned in for what's in store for the future with you -
A DIY kit is not a bad idea at all!

Yes what Broke and S15 are saying.
I know robots arent perfect at painting. The truck does look great and water based paint im sure isnt easy to work with.
I just know you like your rides nice and shiny. Your boy Kasey could take care of that for you down the road if you wanted. And having just painted my car my eye is always catching factory imperfections so I can compare my results

Looks killer Steve!
Next to get rid of that orange peel!
what "Orange Peel"? where?
in the paint. right at the beginning when you're walking up to it.
Im so impressed every time they tint something of yours. Especially more when he does every window by hand! I know what a pain that is.

Box fix looks like it will hold!
Oh and that front end looks mean now- 1

Is this the truck with the badass cupholder setup up front?
I saw that the new fords that can seat 5 have 10 cupholders total. 2 drinks per person lol -
awesome man. Cant wait to see the tint update video! Always the first with one of your vehicles.

Mounting bolts for the subs
Decided to do something different with the binding post markings. Free handed with my Roto saw.
Wired up!
Semi gloss black port. Couldn't decide on gloss or matte, so I went in between!
T nuts glued and installed
Top is on, glued and screwed. Whole box was sanded down to 220.
I will be carpeting the box, but figured I wanted to seal it from any potential moisture.
Loaded it for the first test bump. Sounds great, decided to celebrate with a beer and playing with some lights!
Dont mind the trim panels. They werent all the way flush with the box, just needed to get an idea
Couple weeks later I went nuts with the tape!
Have alot of trimming to do. But this was all done with sunflash. Truly one of the best products I have ever used. Its nice not being rushed frantically to get a batch laid out before it cured (sorry out of focus)
Daytime pic, again sorry for the out of focus
Oh and got some more goodies from steve!

Thats the plan stan! I really didnt want to but It looks like that would be the best. Plus now I have some secret ideas to really make the carpet look good
-
No ideas from the peanut gallery.
Port is semi gloss black now, still debating on how to finish the outside............but it slams

Please let me know if you guys have any ideas, I appreciate it!

Time for a new box! Going to try something ive never built before
Always liked the look of an angled baffle box, plus it helps with space big time. just never had the cuts to attempt and build one.
Port piece
Now its time to start gluing and screwing to make it permanent!
The top will have to be slid all the way over, its an EXTREMELY snug fit lol
Almost looks like a box now. I also did these baffles in a very strange order but Im glad I did, cutouts for the double baffle came out alot easier
I left extra material on the inner baffle so the T nuts will have as much area as possible to bit into. I can always flush trim it but the subs fit fine with no obstructions.
Added some bracing and started to prime the inside while the top is still offNow this is the only thing about the box that Im pissed about. Port is blocked by about an inch, after flush trimming the port top with 2 baffles the angle added up and tapered the port
Do you guys think it will compromise sound in any way? I really dont think it will but who knows.
Ran out of primer:
Primed the top too!
Almost ready to paint the port!
Now I need your guys input here. How should I finish the outside?
Im not going to just slap some rustoleum on it to paint it black, thats too boring and ive done it the last 2 boxes.I have some ebony stain that looks OK but there isnt enough grain visible to show it off really.
Ive never carpeted a box yet and I think this may be the time to!Also what color for the port? Black? I feel that will match whatever is on the exterior way better than a grey. I was thinking red to color match the car but thats too gawdy.
(subs are just resting there, the cutout is so precise I have to pressure fit them in and yes the right one is crooked, just an idea of how much will be visible.)

Damn Steve always coming up with new ways to amaze us.
Would be perfect for my sub box!
Oh and where can we find that SMD heatshrink? Or it that exclusive still?
thanks!!!
it's not that the heat-shrink is exclusive or anything....we just haven't really offered it because we had it made for our new RCA's and a few other items. It wasn't really meant to be for sale But if you are interested that is something we can easily do. thanks again!
That would be awesome! Maybe replacement acorn nuts for the fuse blocks sold separately perhaps? I know im going to break one eventually

I will also be building a new box. Does torres account for angled baffles?
-
Also wanted to redo my a pillars. Tweets werent really imaged well and was another one of my first projects. Time to put my newer skills to work!
Remaking my false floor, the MDF that was back there added up in weight too fast. I had some birch sitting around for a while, might as well use what i have to most of!
Intake fan board mockup
All panels in
Oh and I made a spot for that fuse holder from earlier:
Overall im not happy with this cutout, Id like to get fancy. My grandpa is giving me his router table, going to invest in a bottom bearing flush bit. That should help!
But considering this was all jigsaw, thats not terrible
This one board is hiding alot of stuff now.
These will help with the dreaded MB quart angled inputs.
Had to stop there, waiting for my fuse holder to come. Literally the missing link!
