Dude, cars prep is looking good. Cant wait to see how the paint turns out.
Thanks man I can't either! Should be the nicest and cleanest the car will ever be, slowly but surely!
-
I also did some work on my door panels, used them as a test subject to get used to mixing duraglass. Much better than the 3m short strand filler so far.
Also much creamier so it really gets in the nooks and crannies.
I drilled a ton of holes to make sure it would bite into the plastic and it didnt cross my mind that it would bite this well lol
Nothing major, just something funny id share with you guys.

Had to clean out dry urethane out of these roof rails before I could do anymore work on the roof.
This shit sucked, never want to do it again lolThen I primed them in to cover up the bare metal spots
Along with the side molding areas, also a very difficult area to prep
Now to start the actual body shaving part, Filled both channels with duraglass. (only have picture of one side, i was in one of those get shit done moods)
Cleaned up the excess on the edges and spread some rage
Roof is probably going to need a whole skim coat just for safe measures, and so this blends in better. Just had to get started on these areas.
This is all the progress for now, had a lot of other life stuff to take care of. Shortly will be starting on the metal work!
-
Made some decent progress this weekend.
All the pillars are at the same stage as the body, just dont have good pictures of those done yet.
Those roof rails channels will be getting filled in and shaved, never plan on having a bike rack of any of that shit.
Thats all until this week. I have to run to harbor freight to get more supplies to clean up the side molding areas, orbital is just too big.

Looking good man. Shit ton of prep to get it ready for paint. Keep it up.
Thanks man, it sure is. The outcome will be well worth it though!

Had to move my sister back into her dorm Sunday, only got a few hours to work on it the past week, heres some progress before the weekend
Had to clean out the shop vac filter. LMAO everything is turning pink!
Ok now that the clear coat is gone and 90% of the paint is gone too, getting the rest down to primer isnt so bad.
Only got 4 panels done that night. Had to fight 5 inches of snow before I could get to the garageGetting there! Im going to go ham this weekend and get as much done as I can.

Time for the fun to start!
A little comparison of how badly faded after almost 20 years.
Time to make her all ugly
It kinda hurt doing this, but I know its for the better. Plus since day 1 I knew this car was going to need paint, well now the time is hereThose 2 tools are what I used to get what you see.
Thats just a once over. With 80 grit. Clear took a lot of color with it thankfully
Now time to get to where it looks half way better.
There is ALOT of red still lolThat was where I ended my weekend. I only have a few hours a couple days a week to do this plus the weekend so It should be fun lol.
Did this little bit just tonight- 1

Lookin good man!
Thanks man! I have weeks of sanding in my near future lol
-
Picked up this little guy on ebay for $30
Little dirty but thats ok, ill take care of that in time.
Not sure why these came out so blurry, but the internal strap fuse was blown (well missing technically), someone else was in there and jumpered it to fix it
The jumper got warm and came unsoldered so it was quite a simple fix.Not the prettiest or my most proud work, but it serves its purpose and keeps the innards fused

Time to start prepping for body work! Interior really didnt need to come out but theres not much work into tearing down an entire car this size lmao, one down side I guess.
Makes it easy to rip everything out and start over.Amps out
Batteries out, my kinetic has finally died. Resting voltage less than 11V
What a mess!
Lol, This might be getting replaced with all sky high wire. Tired of reusing wire from systems years ago.
Left with just speaker wires
Whole interior (minus dash and headliner) is removed! (Again lol)
-
You get an hour go thru my build log. you will laugh how closely they mirror one another. And at the end of the day my lancer is still an ugly car. My Degaf car i like to call it. Which is probable why i like the Malibu so much.
yeah man it seems like we had the same ideas! lmao. Its funny how close they do mirror each other. My neon is still a chicks car according to 90% of the people, I dont care.
You and I seem to both make the best out of every situation. Its a blank canvas, its up to every installer to make the vehicle their own and to make it do what you want to do lol.

Not a bad job on the doors. Wish I had the balls to just jump in head first on my doors
Thanks man! Just do what you can when you can. It took me over a year of doing alittle bit at a time on these. When it came to vinyl i just took my time and did one area at a time
-
Not audio related but it will help with the weight, My one side strut started to make noise, all original and the car is almost 20 years old so I cant complain.
Rock Auto FTMFW! Ordered them on tueday, were here on thursday afternoon.- 1

Took a vacation day from work and went to town with all the little things that have bugged me, Like my underhood wires, they never were ran like i wanted them to be and didnt look too pretty.
Now onto my door panels......
Nice to have the patio back, While i waited for all my priming to dry I figured all the casings on the windows were metal and white, this ugly brown didnt match anything anymore: Little suprise for my dad, along with changing the 20 year old spot light to some LED floods
Scored 5 yards of Marine grade vinyl off ebay for like $28. Decided to go that route since I was not going to be happy with a painted finish like my center console.
Other side:
After a long night of wiring:
Next morning, can see all the imperfections but its my very first time wrapping vinyl all in one piece which was difficult on these panels,
Im not an upholsterer, just someone who like to make things looks as nice as they sound / function. Ill be happy with them for now. -
Ok So the city has gotten on us big time with all the shit in our yard, Cant blame them but its what ever. So there was alot of time spent helping clean up (it was bad).
This was the hardest of everything to break down
This is what is in the building, plus the blue tarp in the second to last pic
Had to get the body back on the frame using a tractor, come along, air jacks, 2x4s and cinder blocks... All on uneven rocky rutted ground
3/4 tires held air after 21 years in storage
Out the side gate she goes!
Backyard is clean again!
Came across this Rebuilt factory high output alt for my car. 162 Amps at 2k. about 100 at idle. not bad, had to do something because my last one got torched getting the bolt unseized when I rebuilt the engine
-
I missed having that sun visor in the pt cruiser.
Much betterAlso among all of my interior lights being converted to LED. Also got some single beam LED headlights. No more ugly yellow halogen!
Before:
After
Side by Side:
Both LED
Had to throw my fog lights on too.
Back to that center console that ive been building for 2 years on and off. lol
Now that i have a reason to work on it and somewere to install it when its done.Steel rod to keep it from flexing and cracking on me. I lined all this with scrap carpet so it wouldnt scrape my shifter on install.
SMC Hardset filler to the rescue. Such a pain to sand but this shit works great!
So much sanding lol
So much filler primer lol
1 Temperature meter, 2 Volt meters
After a couple coats of SEM Texture Coating, to simulate the vinyl texture. Looks so nice already.
Phone couldnt focus that well, ya get the idea lol
After SEVERAL coats of some SEM color coat flexible paint
FINALLY DONE!!

Its been like Christmas in April will packages coming left and right of car parts.
Shits getting serious now down to the wire,(BTW the garage Im using will need to be completely scrubbed clean with in a few days of this being done lol)
Nice new shiny pistons!
Almost ready for some POR15
After 2 coats of POR15, No more rust!
POR'd my intanke manifold also. Have a chrome fuel rail for it i will be putting in eventually lol
-
Between this post and the last post was almost a year of saving, collecting and planning and waiting for this moment.
Got the old one out!
Time for a complete overhaul so i can drive my own car again after sitting for 2 years lolTime to de-gunk everything and prep it for paint!
What a mess
All clean!
Old pistons out! Considering this car has 167,000 miles on it these were in amazing condition. The journals were HARDLY worn. Obviously they were getting noisy from some piston slap, so time to replace!
Had to get the rest of my exhaust off to fix it properly were it broke a while back, and quick fixed it with a clamp or 2 lol.
Figured id take some underneath shots to show how solid this thing is still. Why i justified spending more than it was worth to get it on the road again.
Basic ohio surface rust but shes SOLID!
Time for some paint!
-
Also, this is my kind of luck. For once i lucked out but this is the shit i deal with lol
Couple random pictures from a huge storm that came through the next night.
The calm before:
Awesome aftermath, powers out for blocks shits sparking in the sky.
-
Now its time to test out those door panels ive been working on.
(This amp already has been replaced by a OA800.4 This was just for a quick idea)Dont mind the spaghetti, just for quick gain and impedance testing lol
Door panels are not finished, will be re finished the same way Im doing my center console.
This one with the crushed dustcap is on its last legs but still works! his new brother is sitting in a box until im ready for final installation.
All i have to say is even on very conservative tuning, these bitches scream and sound great doing it. Definately want more bass now
Also our classic cars garage is getting a new roof so we had to bring them home for one night, figured id take some pics for you guys.

Heys guys, been a while since I updated this but i have been super busy. Much more stuff coming shortly but for right now ill catch you all up.
Starting building this box for my cousin.4 12's, 4 cubes sealed, Ford Ranger (no more escort zx2)
Resin was in the sun and started to cook, eh still works
My fat ass finger in the way but got the top 2 baffles cut and flush trimmed
Then it occurred to me, oh fuck.
Made a 50 mile trip just to make sure this wasnt an issue.
Close but it fits!
3rd and final baffle, mainly for cosmetics.
One of the first coats of stain, just to get an idea...
Had to tease him with this pic. After several stains and lots of poly.
Not too shabby if i say so myself

-
Thanks man I really appreciate it!

Friend of mine sold me 2 mtx thunder 12's for 15 bucks so I made a box for the Pt cruiser lol.
Box actually sounded amazing for only being 500 watts!
Since i had everything wired up for bass i figured ehh what the hell. lol
Also dipped the wheels because those chromes were a pain in the ass to keep clean, and working 2 jobs i cant keep my daily driver detailed as much as i used too
Also new deck
Gave myself a fat sun visor also. lol
Decided to make a big ass box for the mtx's just for shits and giggles and it sounds so much better ported!
