  1. I just got a pair of 15" american bass hd's and i can't figure out the subs displacement from this sheet. Can someone break this down in laymans terms to me. How much displacement per woofer do I need. My available box space is 17.5(h)x41(w)x22(d) Total airspace 7.50cuft. thank you thank you thank you.
  2. Hi. Been a member for a short while but a bass head since I was 8. My friends call me Rob Bass. I have owned a few small businesses but failed, now my brother and I own a neighborhood convenience store. Been open for 2 years now and it's not getting any easier but it's still better than working for someone else. Been doing ok so I started selling car audio (One of my dreams) and have been doing good at that too. Just wish I had the connects and the money to get some of the bigger name car audio in my store. The people on this this site have been very helpful and insightful so far with answering my noob questions. This is the first forum that I have joined and feel pretty welcomed by you all. Sorry in advance if I ask some dumb ass questions but Bass and all things Bass is what I love and I'm a sponge for knowledge and good at taking criticism. I found this site by surfing Youtube and became fascinated by Steve's installs (there better than porn ) and came over to the site and started looking at other peoples install's. Alot of you people are geniuses and have a manipulating hand with mdf and fiberglass and I thank you for it. I have learned more on this site in the past couple months than I have in the past couple years of my life. Best believe I appreciate any feedback to any of my questions. Oh, And there's going to be ALOT of questions, LOL.
  3. Starting my in trunk build in my 1996 toyota corolla and have almost decided to go with the american bass HD 15D2. Does any one who know the specs on the American Bass HD 15 D2. I can't find ported enclosure info on there website. I need to know if I have enough air space for them. My availible box space is 41(w)x17.5(h)x22(d). That's 7.50 ft3 of air space before port and woofer displacment. I can get over 8 if I streach it. Or can anyone suggest a good 1500 watt rms sub for $250 to $400 a sub?
  4. Oh but of coarse, It's already all 0 guage all I need now is an alternator and a couple more runs of 0 guage. And I'll get as many batteries as I need. If I go 49(w)x 25(h)x38(d) that gives me 20.6 cu ft of air space minus the 1.704 for speaker displacement that leaves 18.896 and then minus whatever my port is. And I can still make the box bigger than that If I need to.
  5. Right now I have a BRE 2500.1D brutus but I plan on finding a decent 4000 rms amp next month. And I have a little room to play with to make the deminsions bigger.
  6. Yeah I know. And yes I am going to build another box. The subs recommend 1.7 cu ft for Ideal box per sub. I have plenty of room to play with since I have a tahoe
  7. Howdy doo. I bought this truck with 8 Alpine Type R's (the 500rms one') in it already. But the box is tuned around 28 Hz. My question is what would you guy's recommend for a new one. I might add to the dimensions a lil bit if I have to but for the most part I would appreciate any suggestions on slot port dimesions/area and box sizes. Here's some numbers...Current box: 19(h)x49(w)32(h) - Port: 6.5(H)x11.5(W)x12.5(L) - Total woofer displacement: 1.704 (I Think) - Gross Volume: 14.67ft3 - Port Volume: 0.71ft3 - Physical Port Length: 11.75" - Port Area Range: 147-196 in2 - Port Area: 74.75 in2 - Port Area Per Foot: 6.10 in2 - Net Volume: 12.26ft2 - Tuning Frequency: 28.93 Hz(roughly, if I did it right). Alpine recommends 1.7 cu ft per sub ideal, and port 3" diameter 9.9" length. Random info, Xmax: 18.2 - Qts: 0.47 - Fs (Hz) : 29 - Vas (liters): 45. Ok guys let me know what you come up with. And thank you in advance. here's a couple picures of the current box. [/img]
  8. Yea, I think That skar 4500.1D is looking like my favorite option.
  9. The guy I bought the truck from told me it was built to spec for the subs. Oh well I'll be takin em out and building a box for them anyway. As for used, I don't really go for used stuff. I like warranties and that new amp smell. I think I'll be lookin into the skar 4500.1D I like those specs. If anyone has any more suggestions I'd love to here them. I greatly appreciate the info. And I did the big 3 on my electrical all I need now is a H/O alternator.
  10. The box was built to alpines specs, what do you suggest it be tuned to platypus?
  11. I definately will hit you up hunter when I figure out what I want to do and if I want my budget to go up. Any other suggestions?
  12. Is 1449.99 the current price on the skar 4500?
  13. My range is around $600-$800 since I only need one for the subs.
  14. Oh and there wired to 1 ohm, dvc 4 ohm.
  15. Still new to the site, glad to be here. I have 8 Alpine type R's in a 19x32x49 box and 5x10x12.5 port can't figure out what it's tuned at but together they are 4000 watts rms.I have a hifonics BRE2500.1D and got tired of it pretty quickly. Not a bad amp just not what I'm looking for. Can anyone give me some recommendations for some amps. [/img]
  16. Yea I would like to keep it all Alpine because theyre amps are supposed to do rated at 2 or 4 ohms and a whole bunch of other shit that they say only theyre amps do. But I don't know I havn't did enough research to see if any other amps offer what alpine does. Anyone know of any amps that do rated at any load? and have all the same features as Alpine amps?http://www.alpine-usa.com/product/view/pdx-m12/
  17. My bad. I Just would like some insight on alpine because i don't want to jump in to this build if it's not going to be competition worthy. I also get there amps at dealer cost so thats why i'm asking.
  18. Let me ask another way is alpine PDX-M12 amps worth the money planning on doing all alpine in my truck and would like to know if anyone has had experience with these amps before I spend the money. Any info is as always well appreciated.
  19. Yeah I hate the power layout too, I got It all hooked up and so far no problems. Now I need to know where I'm at on the meter.
  20. Info is well appreciated fellas, thanks.
  21. Those were ran before I bought the truck from a friend. Whoever he had do it did a shitty job so I have to go through the whole system. Just did my big 3 today so all that shit is 0 gauge now.
