  1. OK so I am trying to get the host of the local car shows in my area to switch from the AC (audiocontrol) to the TL. So far this is what I told him: I think it's time for you guys to upgrade from the Audiocontrol meters and upgrade to what the rest use at IASCA, World Finals, and such SPL events. Time to get the TL (termlab). Thoughts? He got upset I guess and replied with: Listen man your WRONG everybody don't use that meter and besides if everybody use the same meter why would they be Different Organizations it would all be the same shows !!!!!!! Anybody got some thing I can come back with to shut him up?
  2. Crimping is done with a crimping tool (like a plier), some people use vice's, vice grips, etc. You would basically be squeezing the wire to attach it to the terminal. Soldering is done with either a pencil torch, or a soldering iron/gun, and you use solder which maybe a combination of lead or iron (although many electrical solders are lead free) and kind of weld the wire to the terminal. thats the difference between the two.. Great explaination, Thanks bro. I guess this would be the same as when my grandpa when he welds metal together with a torch gun?
  3. What's the difference? From what I know soldering is better... Could some one post a pic to show the difference?
  4. Ahh ok so pretty much it's 1 layer of 3/4 MDF holding the MTs then lots of fiberglassing? The whole purpose of the top layer is to give it that flush look?
  5. Quick question Steve...How many layers of MDF did you lay on the top? I see 1 layer on there where the subs are actually on and then another layer to give it that "flush" look. Is that other layer on there just to give it that flush look or does it also prevent flexing.
  6. Didn't install it myself. Antenna is fine because it unlocks, locks, and the remote starts works perfectly fine. It just doesn't page me when the alarm goes off.
  7. Warranty or not im really really good friends with the owner, family has done a lot for him. Im sure he would check it out. I just don't have that much time to go by and I would like to fix it myself if some one on here knows what the problem is.
  8. Anybody ever had this problem? The 2 way pager isnt working. Normally when my alarm would go off it would page me on the key. It doesn't any more.
  9. LOL I forgot about the Honda...Kinda needed to wall it out though in order to get those MTs in there though
  10. Maybe Train horns but surely not musical horns. Same thing I was thinking
  11. What do you mean you think you have 12s? Pics? New?
  12. I lived in the Bay Area for 30+ years and then moved to the valley...Change is sometimes good. Also Rockford doesn't make the woofers I love (HX2's) and their new line is crap IMO. OK so then why do our thoughts and opinions matter to you if you have your mind set that RF's new line is crap? It seems there's nothing to discuss here. You think RF new line is crap so your going to switch to Earthquake.
  13. I say if you have been running Rockford Fosgate since the 80s then it must be doing you good! Why change 20 years later?
  14. LOL yeah...I thought they were marine speakers since I imagine they do get wet.
  15. I think car's get that over time if you don't wash them enough.
  16. yeah I know...shouldn't be too hard since all the wires are already ran, they're just popping out waiting for a H/U. All I need is a new face plate.
  17. Yeah I plan on putting some of the money that Ive been working for to purchase some MTs to buy him an alarm. Im also going to install all the new stuff he gets (except the alarm) since you can't always trust guys at the shops. This will be my first H/U install that I do, by myself. ;D
  18. Well yeah...now I have a "feeling" what Steve felt when they took his civic. While my dad was at work today, my mom and sister decided to go shopping at one of the biggest malls in Florida, Dolphin Mall. They decided to take my dad's F-350 since they were going to be buying a lot of things plus had to do groceries afterwards so the big bed was needed today. As most of you know you can't really park an F350 in a regular tight parking spot so she parked it in the back where there were a few cars. As they were walking back to the car I was on the phone with her to let her know that I was going to go out and such when I hear my sister screaming in the backround. Then my mom "oh shit they stole your father's radio!". So I got on the nextel and radio dad to let him know. Of course he got all upset (with reason) and left work to go look at it. They some how broke the lock of the passanger door got in and stole the following: 10" Panasonic Flipdown w/DVD player Sony Headunit Headphone that came with the flipdown Digital camera CDs damaged the subs (got mad because the couldn't get them out it appears). They also broke the carpet on the roof with some thing like a knife or a new flathead, poked it thinking that the wires on the flipdown where there. They also ripped off the tray that holds your glasses and the meter the tells you your MPG, miles to empty, and GPS. Cut some wires thinking they could get them out. These guys must have known what they were doing because you couldn't even tell the car was broken into from the outside. Im actually impressed by the way they got in. I expected a broken window or some crow bar dents. So yeah...My dad arrived & completed filing a police report. Bad news: (1)Insurance deductable (2)More than $2,000.00 in loss & damage (3)Car got broken into, period. Good news: (1)Possible surveillance footage (2)They left behind the glasses holder which they broke so there may possibly be some finger prints on there. (3)Broke into a cop's vehicle, so that may help a little. Let's see what turns up tomorrow when my dad goes to the lab to test for any finger prints.
