Two quick things to learn:
Port area is not related to box volume. It is related to air velocity through the port which comes from cone area x excursion and tuning frequency.
The idea of large port area is only for SPL is not correct. I think people have come to this conclusion based on large, short ports that are tuned to higher frequencies in SPL setups. In reality, ports are usually too small in car audio boxes due to the smaller sizes and the very long ports that would be required to get the desired tuning.
So do you think I should shrink the port size down some or leave it alone? I mean the mayhems move a ton of air and are bad ass subwoofers! Im more looking along the lines of doing some sweet hair tricks with it just tryin to get a box that sounds good for daily and that will move air for fun like hair tricks and what not

Reading>you lol and thatsa great amp i love mine cant wait for a second on or a bigger one.
I've never ran any crescendo amps before but I've heard nothing but good about them so i figured ide give one a try
-
ill be running a cresendo bc5500 on them....what do you think would be a good amount of port area then?
-
Doesn't look to bad on paper, is that 8.1 cubes after all displacements?
yes 8.1 after all displacements
-
ive got a box figured for two aa mayhem 15's they call for 3-5 cub feet each i have a design for a box thats like 8.1 cub feet with right around 183 inches of port wich will end up tuning wise around 35.x hz do you guys think that that enough roof for the two aa mayhem 15's and will it sound good for music being tuned at 35hz?
-
port and subs up port in the middle would be great for music
Would you put them in seperate chambers and do two 6inch areo ports in the center with like a baffle between them or just a baffle design box and one big port in the center?
-
ill get more numbers up tonight when i have a chance to measure everything out right but i know i got 22 inches deep and right around 24 inches tall width im not sure on will update tonight when i get home
-
ok so im working with a 1996 ford ranger extedned can i have about 22" deep to play with and i dont want to go much higher then the back window with the enclosure if possiable could i place one behind each seat and place the port for the box in the center? so the air will be moved around the arm rest? would that work for the volume they need?

All set correctly, they'll take that no problem
Sweet now I'm just hoping everything will fit the way I want it to And go from there

Check it out
Those look way different then the ones I found may have to take a look for the model like that one. It looks like it could actually handle the 2500 watts rms

I'm looking to run 2 aa mayhem 15 d1 voice coil on a crescendo Bc5500 which well actualy put out about 5800 watts do you think that would be safe for daily use? Will be tuned with dd-1 In box tuned to right around 35 hz
-
Just got one, but havent got the box built or got an amp yet. Right on the basket is a label that says 2500 RMS 5000 MAX, so I'm not sure how accurate sonic's specs are. Seems very well built to me though.
Edit: And the magnet looks different too, so maybe its just a newer model and sonic hasnt posted the new pictures and specs yet.
You have any pics you can put up? IDE like to see the new model if it's different from the ones im looking at

What do you guy think of the ma audio hard kore dual 2 ohm subs? You think they could really hold up to the 2000w rms? They look pretty well built but I'm not an expert by no means just wondering on peeps thoughts thanks

Haven't bought anything but subs...just up for suggestions and other ideals until I order rest of the set up cuz it has potential to change based off suggestions

Haha. It's my video. And the shag is now gone. The XXX's are amazing sounding!!! I replaced a set of ESB Zapco RB16.2's with them after Zapco stopped importing them and I was unable to get a matching woofer for the one I blew. Anyway, they are a little bit harsher on the high end than the Zapco's but, very warm nonetheless. It may have something to do with the amp I'm running them with which is a Zapco Ref1000.4. These lil buggers get down in all aspects and take a beating. I wouldnt hesitate to run them in any installation provided you have the room for the mounting depth of the woofer. These seem to be one of the only things that were not changed in the lineup back when RE/US AMPS all went to one name. Other than the grills. Oh and for your entertainment, here's a pic of the interior last year.
The first video didn't post right but it's of peeps trying to fry those xxx 6.5's and after over 3 mins of solid abuse it couldn't be done! Haha I know what I'm using in my new build. So far This is my plan for my next build 4 re audio xxx 12's d2 and on a dc audio 7.5k amp. Then 4 of the xxx6.5's in the midstage on a Rockford fosgate t600.4 then going with the re audio Re6.5c and re audio rex5x7's on a rockford fosgate t400.4 fronts and a clarion Nz501 hu. In a 1997 ford expedition. What ya think so far?
-
It's actually in a 240 sx haha
-
how many watts u got going to them ? i looked at your build log as well nice job
It's not my build just something I found on YouTube just wonder what everyone thinks of the xxx 6.5 components
-
What you guys think of these component speakers?

The box I'm working on is going in a ford ranger in the exteded cab portion of the truck. I'm hoping to get some fun hair tricks with the two of them...you guys think that they would do that
