  1. hahahaha I never even considered it like that. You sir are a genious and I look like a fool lol. Geez cant believe that one went over my head lol... cheers and thanks.
  2. need one of your 270 amp for a 2004 vw beetle to go on sale HINT HINT HINT lol
  3. Hey boys and girls this is a noob question here. So to go along with my build I am ordering a 270 amp mechman and gonna put a few XS batteries in. the only amps will be a DC 3.5 and DC 4x175. Problem is that up front in there is not a lot of room for a monster battery. so question is does it make a difference which battery goes where. I could use an XS d3400 up front (barely) and the same in the back or bigger like an xs d 3100. will it matter if the one up front is the smaller of the two as far as power goes. Im thinking not, but I have been known to be wrong. thanks d
  4. everybody stop ordering the 3.5k lol I want to make sure I get mine without a problem hahahah
  5. no good componenets in yet...still stock factory speakers and factory upfront mid drivers and tweets on factory amp..They sound decent at best I am sure the mid bass drivers and component set will fill in some of the gap. Just feel like as hard as it hits in the 20-50 hz range that it shouldnt have such a drop in output from 50 - 160ish. IF YOU GUYS CUT OFF ALL YOUR COMPONENTS AND ONLY HAD YOUR SUB OR SUBS RUNNING DOES YOUR SUB HAVE A HIGH PEAK RANGE AND THEN FALL OUT EVEN WITH THE FILTERS OPEN? I am startin to think the sub may be the culprit. I know my amps dampening factor isnt so great and the sub is way underpowered right now. but the sub is still seeing 800-900 watts out of its 2000 rms desired...
  6. ok well I bypassed the head unit and used test tones and the sub plays through the full filter width. Apparantly it is just really peaky from like 30 hz to the uper 40s the sub will play the higher notes just at a way way lower volume. Is this normal to an extent? I know that a good set of mid bass drivers would help fill in a bit,...just seems like to me that the sub should play these louder.... I know the sub is underpowered by around half. Is this the nature of the sub and the ported box or is the amp suspect.... I am not sure what you specifically want pics of but the box was tested and is fine and on spec. So either amp isnt enough or doesnt have good dampening?...The sub is just very limited or not sensitive enough? Or the lack of good midbass drivers/components is causing the fuss?? Maybe something entirely else lol. Although wiring is good, head unit is good, box is good.....anyhow thanks again for the help and let me know what you want pics of and I will get them out here..
  7. just tried that and it got quieter,...in fact so quiet that stock is louder. Also the freq range did not improve at all....... The sub seems just to have no umph after 45 hz.........maybe a power issue??? I know the re audio xt4000de is not giving up its 1600 rms......its not cea certified and I am sure that the 200 dollar price tag backs that up..... Maybe I need a stronger amp with better dampening? Maybe the stock speakers are providing no mids, however I feel like the sub should be fairly strong from the 40hz to the 180 hz range. also there is no sound deadening in the car which would probably help. The only thing is that rap hits pretty hard but has a very limited bandwith... rock has a limited bandwith and even with a tad bit more gain doesnt even have the lower end power of the rap. I mean the sub doesnt even seem to move after the 50 hz range.....the box specs are perfect according to what RE calls for using the torres. IDK it seems like a 700 dollar sub should not suck this bad. I am open to operator error but dang I feel like all my bases are covered. I am about to do the big three because it needs it anyhow. Just hate to think Im out 700 for th sub and 250 for box build......and another 350 for amp and wiring... Any direction you guys could point me in is reatly appreciated and I do appreciate all the help so far...
  8. Thanks for the specs....as of now i am looking into GOOD FRONT STAGE..... But I am seriously considering selling this sub,....Even as the bass goes it is all over the place. It is in a 2006 vw bug (box sits mounted in place of the back seat) I just can not get it to sound good. it will hit hard in the 40 -50 hz range it seems, but has no balls after that. When it does hit hard it is only on rap music which only consist of 30% of what I listen to. Maybe it is underpowered way too much?? But rock just seems to have little bottom end and no kick. I knew i built the box solid and I had high hopes for this system to sound real good all around. Not just be a one note wonder rap machine. Even with midbass drivers, I am not sure if it will sound very good. Seems to have such a limited range. Maybe I should seal the box?? I am at a loss and just dropped 1k bucks for this sub and box build and another couple hundred for the amp. Even when i turn the filters up on the deck and amp it seems to have little to no effect at all. As far as the placement of the sub it has clearance of about 4 inches on two sides about 7 on one side and about 7 away from the port. IDK what to do I have been trying to tune it for the past week. The only reason I bought this sub was a certain person who works for RE said it was a good mix of SQ and SPL and was amazing. Seems to me my old JL audio w3 12 with 350 watts sounded better than this. What Now?????
  9. its an L shaped port, why would 16 inches make no sense exactly..?
  10. ub is firing up, port is back. I got a net of 3.8ish. at 36 hz. The sub hits low pretty hard,....I think the bos is ok but maybe something else is the culprit. Clarion NZ500 for the deck...flat eq'd with the sub level at 7 ...sub filter on deck at 80 hz volume on 30 out of 40. RE audio Xt4000 de powering it... rated at 1600 watts @1 ohm which I am sure the amp isnt pushing gain around half subsonic filter on about 30 hz filter at 80 hz no bass boost. Hits but doesnt seem very musical. Ive messed with the filters and the gain.and just can not seem to get it to sound good all the way around. Rap hits hard on lows but seems to not have much upper bass and such. but the kicks on rock are weak and almost non existent. the bos is really strong and well built,...maybe a lil polyfill to make it act like it is seeing 4 cubes?? maybe underpowered to the point that the amp is the culprit. Bass seems fairly clean with little distortion, sub doesnt bottom out that I can hear but at high volumes its hard to tell if its car rattle or the sub?? IDK any ideas or suggestions. I know getting a good front setup with mids and highs will only help but I feel like this sub should just be killing and not have what appears to be such a narrow band. thanks for all the help I really appreciate it. Just frustrated that RE told me the box cal was not off lol and frustrated that the amp most likely will not see the 1600w rms that it claimed....and overall just frustrated why It just doesnt sound good to me. i had a jl audio w3 in a ported box with around 350 watts rms that sounded better overall( didnt hit the lows like the xxx though) sigh....
  11. Hey guys I am having hell with this box and want to ask for a quick bit of help. I am running an RE Audio XXX 15 I built the box to 43x19x19 with the walls and prt all being 1.5 inches thick. port is 4.5 x16 with 31 inches of port length. I have a mac and cannot DL Torres or I would. WinIsd pisses me off lol and hates my computer. Could someone pretty please run the specs above and wee what is happening, Sub displacement is .27 desired tuning is 33 I am sure the tuning might be off a bit but that is ok as long as it is within a few Hz. Please help a man out. The box is strong and no leaks, fiberglass all the 45's mdf on inside and birch on outside....it hits hard on the lows and doesnt seem to have any port noise....window and roof flex from hell,...just seems to lack any mids lol..( I know it is a sub so mid drivers are on their way) anyhow this was my first ported box build so Im nervous I F'd it up lol. Any help and suggestions are appreciated.
  12. Yeah thats what RE site says, but I have heard its wrong. So far everything as far as specs go with RE has been off lol. So is that 4 cubes after sub displacement and prt displacement?
