  1. Yea, back in the day, I got pulled over for a burnt out headlight, that magicly turned back on after the stop was made. These are just common issues you will face driving a car/truck, its the police doing things like this that helps prevent crimes, catch criminals, and continue to keep your areas safe. I also listen to the police scanner almost everynight in my area, and it seems like every other stop they make, they capture someone with felony warrants and all kinds of other stuff. I know some of you are gonna flame me for this one, but I plan on getting a detector, but I haven't had a need for it yet as my system really isn't that loud.
  2. I read the sound ordinance of illinois, and I'm pretty sure it's the same as Elburns, but this friend wasn't a boy, it was a female, and I just didnt know if they logged anything, I just wanted to make sure as I'm still new to the game and still learning. I wasnt a douche bag, and neither was the cop really, I didn't have anywhere important to be, just going to my uncles, but I still dont think it was loud enough he had to pull me over for it. And find better friends for what reason?
  3. That's what the cop said! Haha! It's like you're him! LOL, I know I'm not that loud, I'll try to make another video though and show you how it bumps.
  4. do you think that an amp that is rated at 75 x 2 (and wasn't playing the full 75, plus it might not do the full 75 anyway, but not too sure about Lightning Audio products, all I know is they're decent and are part of Rockford Fosgate) is really that loud though? and I'm pretty sure I was the only one bumpin, besides he followed me for at least 2 blocks.
  5. Now before I start this thread, I'd like to ask the people who are gonna trash me with shit to please refrain from posting and keep the comments to your self and simply answer the question I asked. I'm from Aurora, IL, but I'm pretty sure this sound ordinance is the same throughout all of Illinois except maybe the city of Chicago. http://www.elburn.il.us/index.aspx?NID=169 I was recently pulled over by a cop after pulling out of McDonalds, my system so far consists of what is in my signature, except for the amp, the amp that same day was upgraded to the B200.2 for 2 dollars or so. When the cop asked me why I thought I was pulled over, I answered "I don't know" because I honestly didn't think ~40 or so watts (not sure how many watts the amp really puts out) was that loud, but he told me he could hear me over a block away from INSIDE his vehicle. When he told me it was for my music and just asked me to turn it down, but he did not state if this was a warning. However, when I told my friend about the incident they said that warnings (also known as "heat") are still recorded. So I was wondering, because I thought the law was 75 feet at 90db in a commercial area, what does the law really say? Or what does it literally translate into? And if this was a warning, how long will this "heat" stay on me?
  6. I was just wondering where/how most of you learned how to do what you do in the car audio world. I recently (last year) became interested in car audio, since I got a car, but always loved music/audio related things. My first install was just something simple, in my sisters car I put a dual xml8110 since she used her ipod all the time and she could just easily dock it in there and play, I also installed some subs, but they were one of the visonik bass packages. This year I got MY car, and I installed a clarion cz401, and bought some DXi 104's already in a box from my cousin, and a b2.150.2 from the pawn shop, and an amp kit from the local sound shop (and let me tell you, I didn't know bass until I used quality products like these, I thought my sisters subs sounded decent, they were supposed to do maybe 200 watts or so. After installing my 150 watt amp (2 subs wired in 4ohm config, receiving 50 watts each sub) I was amazed, 100 watts pounded harder than the piece of shit I put in my sisters car, and it actually hit lows!). But like my first install, this was a simple install, didn't really have to do anything but mount the fuse holder, run some wires through, crimp wires, etc and all that bullshit. But something I plan to do in the future with my friend who has built boxes before, is build a box my self instead of use a prefabbed one. I've learned how to do simple things like plug some numbers into a box calculator to find the dimensions I need for the internal volume I need and the frequency I want the box tuned to. But what I don't understand is how you include the displacement and all that, and what things like Fs, Q, and all that mean. I was really hoping to see if I could get an internship, paid or unpaid, at one of the local sound shops because I'd really love to learn how to work with building enclosures, working with wood and fiberglass and resin and all that, nahmean?
  7. Yes it was cleared that's a good point , do you have any exhaust leaks , that could also cause your problem I don't understand what you're asking me to do. When I take the car to the muffler shop couldn't I ask them to check for holes?
  8. So I took the car to my uncle, and he jacked the car up and got under while I revved it. Found out this is what was causing the rattling. However, I still have the check engine light on, of course. Do you guys think the o2 sensor could have been damaged because my power wire terminals for the car (not my system or anything) are damaged and not making complete but nearly complete contact? I've heard about o2 sensors being damaged because of battery problems
  9. I couldn't find the right place to post, but what I was most interested in was their amplifiers. So I was wondering if you guys could tell me, have you guys heard anything about or have any experience with this brand? Are there any good things to say about them?
  10. I think the first thing I'll do is check for any rattling by shaking the exhaust/heat shield. If I hear anything the repair is as simple as tightening some bolts, right? But that wouldn't solve my sensor problem, would it? I was looking online for sensors in case I needed to replace them, have you guys ever used denso products? From what I've read they can't be bad, but they're cheap.
  11. I forgot to mention the rattle is only at certain RPM's. It's most audible at ~1600. My uncle said it could be the exhaust and he was the one to point it out to me, and that's when I payed attention and actually heard it. But this was on a hotter day and at a lower RPM, it's now cooler and only happens mainly at ~1600. I've read online and I have also read that it could be the heat shield. As for the o2 sensor, OBD scanners can read that too, right? So I can take my car back to autozone and ask them to clear the code, use it like normal and see if the light comes up again, if it does, autozone should scan the o2 readings, right?
  12. I have a 97 Saturn SL1. I just bought it maybe almost 2 months ago. The first month I didn't really get to use it cause I didn't get to get my plates until the second, but I drove it around for fun a couple times around the neighborhood. It's not till this month I started noticing that there's sort of a rattle, I'm not sure where it's coming from but it sounds like it's coming from the exhaust. My first time I filled my tank was not too long ago, and I added chevron techron. I also just changed the oil today. But before I changed the oil and after I used chevron techron, my check engine light came on. I went to autozone and they gave me the code, it's P0133, the definition on the receipt is: H02S11 slow response (heated oxygen sensor bank 1 sensor 1). I'm no experience mechanic (obviously), but I was hoping you guys could help me solve this problem and tell me what I should do first. Oh yeah, and I know the rattle and the oxygen sensor problem are probably two different problems, but I was hoping you guys could help me fix both.
