Meserment?
It's hard to recomemend anything without them
-
theise are the port options @ 42x37
with a sub od of 15.5 and id of 14.65
as you can see with top port there isnt enough port area, and with the top 2 drawings there isnt enough support between the 2 subs
-
ill draw it for you
-
cone is king
2x 12 is 23% bigger then what you have
3x 10 is 25% bigger
4x 10 is 44% bigger
now with some measurements, you can see what will fit, and make a design from there
-
i see the pic but measurements is a must, other wish were all pissing in the wind
-
the issue is port size, with 37h
2x 15" =32 and with a 1.5" box these no room for port
if you do width 42 you can get 4"? wide but it not enough port of 4 15
-
What measurements do you have to work withing?
and budget?
-
my opinion is whats $35,
just scrip on your lunch order for the week and get the sa15,
its a no mess sub that will take just about anything you through at it (within reason)
just make sure he has the space for it, or his wasting his money
-
post some measurement of what can fit,
and make a design from that,
on low power cone is king,
but with out measurement, it hard to tell what fits
on $400 the options are near endless,
if you stick with the mb1500.1
youll left with $230 to spend on subs
for that youll get between 1-4 sub, to run on that power,
but youll need some measurements to no what size will fit
-
In the hands of the right person there is no comparison,
But if the vvz is in the wrong box v's the right for e-12 will be better,
As said before, you have a budget, post some meserments and then see what you can fit, and make a choise from there.
Myself I like single ported 15" in budget systems but that's just me,
You'll set this up from $300up
-
If you have the money sa8 v2 but 3or4
If you fit 2x 10 you'll fit 4x 8
The sax1500 will be good for either with a 2 or 3 set up but the sax2500 is ideal for 4

i dont deny cone is king
but with in the measurements given 2x type R 12 will give 2.8net @33hz 45sq" of port (1.4 each in common chamber, no bracing or double baffle)
he will not be getting the most out the 2x12,
2x10 in the correct box to the desired tune he wants/requires, (not what he has now) is a different story
but will be close to on par as the linear density is very close, the 10" are only marginally bigger
so if i was to rephrase my last post,
2x sa8 in the right box would be better then what he has now and louder down low
2 x tR10 in a new box tuned correctly will be slightly louder then the 2x sa8
I have two type r 10s in my civic now. Im looking to build a ported box to really make these things shine. They will be running off a audiopipe ap15001d@ 1 ohm (1500rms) I like the sound and look of a slot, big port opening so i was thinking 15-16sq in per cube? Im wanting subs and port facing back, port in the middle but willing to change that. My max sizes are L=36 H=16 W=14-16. Does anyone have good luck with certain designes that they would not care sharing? I want these tuned a bit low but I dont want a one hit wonder box ether. I listen to everything but mostly young jeezy type songs. Im also very interested in doing a horn style box if it will gain me more output.I have never designed one of these. thanks in advance for any designes

Depending on your current setup
On same power, 2x sa8v2 will more then Likly be louder, then what you have and compaired to 2xtypeR12 idd say very close to equale, but the 12's will be slightly louder but only down low, where cone counts,
As far as what you have now you could fit 3-4 sa8 in the place of 2x 10 and then no dought will be louder, but you'll need more power for that
-
Most people get 2 as the required port is is long on a single sa8 that the resion for getting the 8, is defeated,(space)
The smaller the box the longer the port needs to be, and with the sq" of port required a single sa8 will have between 35-45" long port @12sq" wide
Where as the length is close to the same for 2 only double the width
Most sinlge 8's require 1.3-1.4gross
Where as 2 is 2.3-2.4gross, in most cases less then a single 12"
-
there are many single sa8 doing low 130 on music and 150+ on a burp
just remember not all subs were created equal,
-
You answered your own question there,
Sealed, and only 2months
Most subs will handle the abuse for a short time daily, but not long term
And small seales boxes will always handle a tonn of power,
-
That's too much power for the type r,
They can handle 6-700 of good clean power,
But if you start clipping at 750 kiss them good buy,
Have you look at the sundown sa10 thell take that all day
Or if you want to save space the sa8
The sa8 compared to typeR 12 on the same power, will be on par with spl and sq but you'll still have a trunk
-
-
why?
there are a heap better already done
-
Put it this way my sa8v2 is on 100rms and sound nice and loud thend there's people dropping over 1k on these in ported boxes
-
thanks i have a few options i can put to him, just chasing shipping and few other prices on some suggestions,
at current im lookn at 2100us for shipping subs alone,
so im trying to find other shipping options at the moment

couldn't think of the exact work before but it velocity, it changes the velocity of the air,
his a cut from t-section in sticky
Here is the Sketchup schematic in 3D
Those 7"x7" blocks on each side are used for measuring, so the middle divider goes in straight, and if you want to get technical, they assist in compressing the air together while entering the line
Those side blocks would be fun to experiment by adding more to tighten the throat, to change velocity, you will change the tightness of sound, and even adjusts excursion, you can literally watch excursion change while tightening the throat up
But, lets just say they are there to keep the line divider straight, don't get confused

I need a common chamber box plan
in Subwoofers / Enclosures

if your talking about this, the port is way too small the pick above has a bigger port
