  1. Im working on a design for a blow through 4th order for my single cab s10. What do you guys think? Im completely open to criticism and advice. I wish there were a way to fit a box inside the cab but i really dont think its possible. I wont know for sure until I see it (currently overseas) but its unlikely. The specs for the box are as follows: Sealed Volume: 2.55 Ported Volume: 5.74 Tuned to 55hz Ratio: 2.25:1
  2. Should I tune to exactly to the vehicles resonant freq, or should i tune a few hertz lower since boxes tend to play a few hertz higher than their tuned freq?
  3. I am running a Crescendo S1500.1 on stock electric and 1 run of shca 1/0 so without clamping I'm going to guess around 1400-1500
  4. Ok so i know this is going to be a bit of a broad or open ended question, and im not looking for a design so much as just some general guidance. I want to build a burp box for a lvl 4 15". What is a good volume to start with? I can figure the rest out from there im just curious what you all recommend for volume. Thanks
  5. John think about it like this..... the 1.2k put out 1492 watts on the amp dyno during a dynamic run.... the 2.0k put out 2624 watts. On a good electrical system you can pretty much duplicate these results. With that being said, the 1.2k is more than enough to power the lvl2's. You could run the 2k if you wanted to bump up to lvl 3 subs with no issue. I would personally run the lvl2's with the 1.2k. Plus that is saving you $231 that you could then put towards some Sky High Car Audio wire or an XS Power Battery.
  6. I know it is more resistance but honestly how much will an extra 8-10 inches affect it. I'm assuming not much
  7. What if I ran wires from the positive terminals and wires from the negative terminals to the points at the back of the box where I'm putting bolts through.... then a single wire from those bolts to the amp... this would be the same thing correct? And much easier than cramming 2 8ga wire into a small hole
  8. So I'm trying to wire up my lvl 4 15 and I'm using 8ga shca wire..... how in the he'll do you fit 2 pieces of 8ga into these damn push terminals
  9. You are going to have to post a bit more information. What size lvl 4 for starters. If you want help of any quality you are going to need to provide the dimensions of your useable space, and what you are wanting to do with your system. ie... spl, daily listening etc...It would also be helpful to know what vehicle this is going into and what the rest of your system is comprised of.... amp batterys alts and such
  10. hmmm so using that equation, if i use a 6" port it would only need to be roughly 2.5" long is this correct?
  11. wouldnt that be the same thing? how would you calculate the port area of a tube?
  12. Ok so lets see if i got this right. If the box is 3.25 ft3 that means i would need 48,75 in2 of port volume. Using a 6" aero it would need to be 7.76" long. So if I made the port 7 3/4" long I should be good. Now is the length of an aero calculated from end to end of the flares?
  13. Well instead of going with a regular port Im thinking a round port may be easier and give a better look to the box. what do you guys think about this.
  14. I just dont get this at all, hopefully someone can explain.... I really dont want to run a 2" port.... it will look tiny next to a 15
  15. Ok so I have been messing around with Torres and the numbers just dont make sense to me. I am doing a box that is 17" tall x 40" wide x 12" deep. When using Torres if I make a port that is 15.5 tall x 2" wide x 20" long i get a tuning of around 35. To me it would be logical that if i take 2'' off the length and add it to the width, you still have the same volume so it would be the same tuning, however Torres tells me that the new tuning would be 52.33...... I dont understand this, is it just a flaw in the program or am I wrong in all of this. Also what is a good frequency to tune the box to for a daily ground pounder that may compete every once in a while. and if anyone wants to help me with some port dimensions for the box that would be awesome.
