You use the Y adapter so you can have RCA's coming from both amps, going into the bass knob unit. The unit only has 1 set of output RCA's, so you use the Y adapters to plug in the right RCA on 1 adapter, and the left RCA on the other adapter.
So you'd need two 2 female to 1 male Y adapters.
so with that setup, i wouldnt need the 2 bass knobs from the amps. even tho there the telephone cord style.

tele cord

okay. why would you need a y adapter?
-
hey guys. im running 2 amps and have a bass knob question. im trying to figure out how to run 2 amps but only one bass knob. i know i can strap the amps to get the one bass knob done but was trying to figure out how to do it without strapping.
thanks for your help and info.

the trunk lid getting its fatmat installed
thats all i have for some reason. thought i had more.. next pics will be of box build, wire install, subs, amp placements..
thanks for looking,

heres the pics of the sound deadener install. i used fatmat brand. seems to stick really real and easy to form around corners. heat gun helped also. i cleaned all the areas for it with purple power cleaner.
trunk before install
making a cutout out of cardboard for a tight spot.

Do you plan on sealing off the trunk completely? Or just forwards firing and ported through the rear deck? Either way I'd say deaden that trunk... Those Stangs rattle like a mofo... And btw... GET TO WORK! Needs moar build log pics!
ive been tossing around the ideal of sealing the trunk off. trying to think of the pros and cons of it but as it stands, the subs will be firing foward and ported through the rear deck. sound deadener pics coming up
-
For some reason the trunk likes to rattle like a mofo. I was going to run that fat mat under the seat and under the headliner as well.
-
the new subs are treo SSX 12's. dual 2 ohm. going to be running a ported box, ported through the rear deck with the subs firing foward ( towards the rear seat). running 2 optimia batterys and a mechman 270a alt that i bought from jasonjones on here. i'll post more pics as i get more work done it. laying the fatmat tomorrow in the trunk and trunk lid.
have any questions, post them and i'll be sure to answer them guys..
thanks all.

New deck fully installed, wired up. all wires soldered and heat shrinked

Hey guys. well after sitting around for a few days and getting bored. i thought id upgrade my stereo system. my old system was 2 12 treo TE wired at 2 ohm on at 350 watts. sound good n all but i could still breath in the car and was bugging me. so i went on a shopping spree online and whatnot. bought a kenwood DD 319, 2 hifionics brutus 2400.1 amps, 100 feet of Xp flex 1/0 wire, 100 sq ft of fatmat and a bunch of other crap... going to be taking pictures of the system rebuild, the new box build, new subs and everything.
of course i bought a DD-1 and SMD hat. heres my daughter reppin the hat
The XP wire. 2 50ft rolls of 1/0. one red and one blue.

soldering the wires for the new wire harness for kenwood DD 319. -
ive heard its n bits about spec clutchs. some good and some bad. the worse one was a guy shattering the pressure plate on launch at the track... how much hp you putting down to the tire?
IMO, id go with a kelver or centerforce clutch. i have a centerforce one in my 01 GT and love it, its stiff but never have problems out of it.
edit: when i mean kelver i mean the clutch face being kelver. ive never ran one but ive heard good things.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll. Run a 300a for big 3 and 250a for the amp wires.
-
sorry for so many questions but id rather be safe then sorry later.
-
oh also, im going to be running a mechman 270a alt, what size fuse do you recommend for the big 3 power wire.
thanks and have a wonderful day.

You fuse to whatever the wire is rated for. Example would be if your 1/0 is rated or 300A ten don't use a fuse any higher than 300A. The fuse isn't so much to protect your equipment as it is to keep the wire from overheating and catching fire should it ever become shorted out on something.
so according to the fuse chart, for 0 gauge wire max fuse rating is 325 so would a 250 amp fuse up front and a 250 amp fuse out back before connection to the d3400 be alright? also, if im running 0 gauge to the amps would it be safe to run 100 amp fuses for each or would that be to small of a amp rating and they just pop like virgins cherry
-
hello guys and gals,
i read the fuse and wire sticky up top about 10 or so times and still alittle confussed. im running 0 gauge wire all the way back to a d3400 so i was going to stick a 250 up front and another 250 in the back towards the d3400, then go from the d3400 battery to the amp with a 100 amp fuse. does that sound correct?
running 2 hifionics brutus amps. 2400.1 @ 1 ohm. non strapped. so i'll have 2 power wires coming from the d3400 to the amps. fuse on each wire.
thanks for your time and answers.

yeah your most likely right or it just wasnt hooked up yet, never hurts to ask tho. wasnt trying to cause any arguement or anything. was just more curious then anything.
i really need to quit looking at pics trying to figure shit out when im so tired.
wiring 2 dual 1ohm subs to 2ohm load
in Subwoofers / Enclosures
Posted
hey guys. when i went to pick up my subs, noticed the company made a mistake of sending me dual 1ohm subs instead of dual 2ohm subs.
how do you wire up 2 dual 1ohm subs to a 2 ohm load.
thanks
