  1. noob question much my car isn't important neither is wire size for this question

If he knows how much amperage your vehicle demands it could be a relevant question.

To get a ballpark estimate, add up the fuse rating for all of your amps. Add whatever amperage your vehicle needs. If that is less than 200-220 you should have minimal strain your on electrical.

  2. 1220 + 1426 + 1864 + 1686 + 1789 + 2366 = 10351 watts.

    now we change this.

    12.8

    (1220 / 12.73) * 12.80 = 1226.70856... watts

    (1426 / 12.81) * 12.80 = 1424.88680... watts

    (1864 / 12.77) * 12.80 = 1868.37901... watts

    TOTAL

    4519.97438294524358411...

    making the number round.

    4520 watts.

    14.5

    (1686 / 14.95) * 14.5 = 1635.25083... watts

    (1789 / 14.28) * 14.5 = 1816.56162... watts

    (2366 / 14.28) * 14.5 = 2402.45098... watts

    TOTAL

    5854.263441162418144515...

    making the number round.

    5854 watts

adding the not rounded numbers to each other.

    10374.237824... watts

so the correct number should be

    10374 watts in total.

oh didn't see that the contest has ended, well I had fun calculating anyways.

This is your first post? you failed

Be easy on the new guys man. First posts aren't try outs or anything.

Nice try Willem. Welcome to the forum.

  3. Hey guys, how's everyone? I'm Trayten, I'm 16, young I know, always been into cars and loud systems. I live in good ol South Dakota! I love it! Not really, it's not great lol, I do love the winters cause I love snow a lot.

In the near future I plan to buy a DC XL 15 for my Caddy. Just had a wreck about a month and a half ago where some idiot t-boned me at an intersection.. he even had a stop sign LOL. He can't see apparently. Now I got my '88 Caddy just looking to do some upgrades to that. I'm still learning about car audio so I will have some probably stupid questions but hey, I don't expect myself to know much about subs yet.

I've only had 1 system so far and that was in my first car that I wrecked. 2 Memphis 10's on 500 watts total, sealed box :( no extra batteries or electrical or anything obviously, so I haven't really gotten into big game yet. I'm looking forward to meeting you all and asking my questions, been following meade for a long time now, probably 3 years, and I just had to get something bigger than my 10's after watching how good the DC's really are.. Big ups to the guys at DC, you guys do some crazy work! I'm open to messages from anyone and everyone, introducing yourself or if you just wanna chat or whatever, I'll be checking back on this forum probably frequently to see how many people actually read this crap and posted something back to me about this.

Hey Tray, welcome to the forum.

I know we have already talked in your thread but wanted to shoot you an official welcome to SMD!

  4. homemade tweeter saversa standard car dome light in line with your tweeters positive terminal. It acts like a resistor that changes impedance as it gets hot and starts to glow. When the impedance rises, it causes the amp to put out less power, keeping the tweeter in check. If you push it too hard still, the bulb will pop and NOT the tweeter. Get a new bulb, set your gains better, and you are back in business. click here for an example. http://instagram.com/p/bzLpBJEt1w/

Cool trick, never heard of it.

Would a proper DD-1 tune eliminate the usefulness of this trick though? Or not so much?
