  1. I am looking for a battery, or maybe two for my truck. At minimum ill be getting a D6500 for under the hood, possibly a 2nd bat for the back. I jump on my phone, open up the XSPower app to find a local dealer. Turns out there is 1. I call them up to price the battery. My first question is

"do you stock XS power batteries"

the sales guy is like "access batteries?"

And I said "no, XS power, as in the letter x then the letter s."

he said "oh yeah, well we are a dealer for them, I could order you one. Do you know which one you need?"

I told him which one i needed, he places me on hold for a min

then he comes back and said "Bro those batteries aren't as reliable as (competitor brand) and I carry (competitor brand) in stock, do you want one of those instead?"

I told him no and asked him his price on the D6500. He told me what it was, then said that they have a high rate of defect, and I would be better of with the competitors brand.

I have never owned an XS battery, but would like to since based on my reading they seem to be the best. Do you think the sales guy was just getting spiffs for selling the other brand? You would think a dealer would be more educated than to put down XS, or am I just totally wrong and they do have a high rate of defects?

Kind of discouraged my purchase to be honest.

  2. This week's specimen is the DC Audio 1.2k.

    Rated 1200w RMS @ 14.4v @ 1ohm.

The three closest guesses to the CERTIFIED (1% Distortion) Un-Certified (to clipping) and Dynamic Burst RMS (to clipping) numbers COMBINED, will win a snazzy T-Shirt.

That is ALL THREE MODES COMBINED to make one big number. The impedance is 1 ohm. I did some testing @ .8 ohms and popped the fuses @ .5 ohms :D But the amp still works so it protected itself, which is another plus for any brand. Just don't blow......is half of what i expect in a decent amp.

You guys have till Tuesday the 20th to get your guesses in!

I'd like to submit my guesses for the DC Audio 1.2k

    Certified 1401

    Uncertified 1530

    Dynamic 1792

    Total 4723

My guesses are assuming the amp will be tested on the 14 volt bank and also may I ask to have the amp tested dynamically at 0.5 ohm also? Hopefully, THANKS

I think he answered your question before you asked it, unless I am reading wrong

  3. No I'm usually the only one who has the time to get to it. I now am going to school full time and working my ass off so my timed isn't so free anymore. Almost all my posting comes from mobile now. Top it off with the ones who say can I be this or that? No asshole pick a name I'm not holding anyone's hand for a name on the internet. It makes me not want to bother when I see that

Can I get my name changed to Pizanchyn?

Sooooo I guess that's a no on name changes?

Dude show some patience. N8 will get to it WHEN he has a chance, don't clutter this thread with annoying crap like that. He or someone will do it when they can, and if not then it isn't the end of he world. I'm not trying to be an ass, but just chill and it will happen when it happens. If I was a mod it would be those annoying posts that would make me not want to help people.

  4. guys, i am only asking for the BIGGEST number of the 3. If you post all 3 numbers, i will only accept your largest guess. Thanks! have fun, and next time, read what i write because you know, i do take time to write all that shit. You guys never pay attention.

Sorry boss those directions are a little tricky

I was fooled into posting 3 different numbers because of this in the OP:

Certified mode (test stops @ 1% distortion) xxxx watts

Non-Certified Mode (test stops @ Clipping) xxxx watts

Dynamic Burst RMS (test stops @ Clipping) xxxx watts

I figured you wanted us to solve for x

I must be institutionalized from all these damn math classes I take

plus I am half dumb more than half the time

this: just give me the highest achieved number IN THE MANUFACTURER'S lowest SPECIFIED impedance.

now i get it: only post one answer that you believe is the highest wattage achieved, at the manufacturers recommended lowest stable impedance.

    A couple questions:

I am thinking the amp dyno would be an awesome tool to have at SPL competitions

How are they powered? by a battery bank

Could I take it from vehicle to vehicle on a cart? yes, that's what it is designed for. Watch the YouTube videos

Are they warrantied? if so how long and is an extended warranty offered? I am not sure about this one, Steve or TC could answer or you could even email west coast car audio to find out

Could I test a home amplifier? can't answer this for sure but its set up for dc voltage

    Thanks!

    -Sean

I figured those answers would do better than nothing incase Steve doesn't reply

  5. Not on the positive post, that's for sure.

Use a bolt on the casing.

okay, well since there are no posts made for it on the casing, i doubt i will be able to fit any 0 gauge on there. what size wire should i aim for a ground?

Use one of the bolts that mount your alt to your vehicle, pick one where you have the most surface contact with the alt by the ring terminal and use that.
