.02 life advice -
If you've only used your dd1 once in the past year and are currently unemployed, In my opinion the added benefits of the + are not worth going $250 into debt.
But if you sold your dd1 I'm sure Steve would sign your new one.
I said it would be against my better judgement. Just trying to learn something, but I really appreciate the life advice, not sure what I would have done without your .02

I have a DD-, I like it, and although I have only used it once to tune my system and have had it over a year I don't regret purchasing it.
I am intrigued by the DD-1+ but am on the fence about making the purchase... $250. I asked about a trade in program when they first came out but I don't think there is one. Yeah I could sell my DD-1 but it's signed by Meade and I really don't want to try to sell it. I am not one of the lucky ones that can just drop hundreds of dollars on a new gadget whenever they want to. If I was in that position i would own all of the SMD tools and meters. I could buy it on credit but I am unemployed right now and that would be against my better judgement, although I could probably be convinced
I watched Steve's YouTube video about the DD-1+, searched the forum for topics, and even downloaded the owners manual and am still left with questions about exactly how gain overlap compares to using the various DD-1 tracks. Say for example you have a DD-1+ and you set the gain overlap to 10db, how does that differ from just having the DD-1 and using the -10db track?
Also, how do you know what type of overlap to use when you have fully variable adjustment from 0-15db?
Thanks to any and all with input.

When I read the title I was thinking... What ride is Chicken putting zebra in
That's a neat twist, I'm with you on saying that isn't something I'd put in my ride even IF I could afford it, but it's always fun to see something different

Email Tony and see what he has to say.

Man the different colors really set the look of the amp off.
Can the DC logo color be changed too?
Do you mean like this?
Are those logos just stickers? They look a little different than the other parts.

Nice!!
I can see that the young man is well coached. Putting up those vids a' la SMD style with an AMD twist to them
Was that shot with a phone or an actual camera? The quality looks really good.

Damn Steve got a whole bunch of hate thrown his way in the comments. People are fuckin stupid.
-
I am really surprised you didnt take the doors apart to deaden from edge to edge! lol Seemed to have worked well.
If he had some serious beat in there I'm sure he would have and probably more than 1 layer too. He said he just wanted less rattle on the trails, which I'm sure will be mission accomplished.

I had the same problems when using ie. I couldn't quote posts either. Switched to chrome, no problems after that.
-
Hi Steve, I see you used the foam speaker baffles in the doors...do you recommend them? Did you use them to enhance midbass, protect speaker, or both?
He says why right in the video.
-
SO I called XSPower again based off of the recommendation I got. Talked to a different person this time. The difference was night and day. The original person I spoke to wasn't rude at all but didn't seem to want to find a way to help either. I would say it was your average level of customer service you could expect to get just about anywhere.
Second time I called, the person I spoke to gave me his email address, asked me to send him some pictures and I did. He didn't end up offering to warranty the battery BUT he was very helpful and came up with a more than fair solution. The only problem is that as generous as his offer is, I can't afford it at the moment due to being laid off so I am still in the same boat.
I appreciate the help and input I got from everyone though.

That looks just like the alternator in my 03 expedition. What a deal!!! I'd buy one if I could fit a bolt on dual kit under the hood

it's VERY nice. Rode around a little in the rain up and down the street and the field across from the shop. Felt great but I couldn't keep it in a straight line in 2wd mode. She just wants to be sideways I gotta stay in 4wd mode in order to not drift when i punch the gas LOL. I can't wait to take it somewhere fun, maybe tomorrow. How does it run now?
I can't wait to see the video. Probably looks and sounds 10 times better in person, and that's saying something because it looks bad ass in pics and vids.

When I used to compete back in the day (2000-2003) car audio guys were so much more friendly and open to give even noobs advice on how to do things. These days, anytime someone asks how do you do something they are immediately shunned and told if you have to ask then follow the manufacturers specs. What a bunch of dicks. I still enjoy having fun with car audio and sharing my knowledge base with anyone who asks. I've been doing this for years and there are not many enthusiasts in my area. I might get a little red or confrontational when someone tells me their 2 kicker comp subs in a prefab sealed enclosure with a Pyle 2400 watt amp does 175 decibels with nothing more than a 4 gauge wire running from the stock battery to the crap amp in the trunk, but when someone approaches me and asks, hey how do these guys run double power on subwoofers in these cars, I can have a 25 minute conversation on how and why, but I don't act like I'm the "king of car audio" and say if you have to ask don't do it. So magically when you all first experimented with car audio the answer how to do things just fell out if the sky and landed on your face huh? No someone who knew what the hell they were doing probably explained it to you. So please, Stop acting like stuck up bitches and help people.
Who was acting like a stuck up bitch?
Helping someone isn't necessarily telling them what they want to hear. There is no written perfect procedure or rule when it comes to what the OP is asking. It's learned by trial and error. The manufacturer specs are there for a reason, to protect the product and the customer. If you haven't actually travelled down this gradual learning curve, then no Q&A session in a forum thread is going to give you the know how necessary to throw triple the recommended power at a sub.
Let's see you practice what you preach and instead of calling everyone bitches tell the OP how it's done.
The floor is yours, I'm all ears bro.

Thank you Nathan. I'm assuming this is the Nathan that sold me the battery great customer service by the way.
The battery is still in my possession as a return was not authorized.
What test results do you speak of?
Regardless of the outcome, awesome hearing from you bro!!

Nice man! Nothin like some pretty lights to jazz up an install
Keep it up!
Coming from you that means alot thanks man.
I've got a lighting question, I'll pm you

Thanks man. The two below the stereo are out of my line of sight, the one up top is mounted where the flip down mirror used to be so I can flip it up when driving.
I know, it's just a couple of meters but that's all it takes to make me happy

Ha. This got more interest before I put the video up than it did after. Fail.

"proud pappa moment" .. hell yeah bro.
Always know when something has your approval when you give it the "yeah"
He should love those T2 components. I love mine, been waiting on a certain company to send mine back to me from warranty for 6 months now.
These father/son project videos are definitely some of my favorite that you've made.

nice pink tool box..
you have your vagina in there????
team RF decal is dope
in for vid
Yeah it's where I keep my spare actually.
The toolbox used to be red. It's the first toolbox ive owned, got it when I was about 15 i think. Decal hes been there just about as long.

Here's the vid you pervs.......
Keep in mind that I am no good at taking videos, but at least you can tell what it is. Enjoy...
The VM-1 is mounted in the overhead console where the little flip down mirror used to be. The OM-1's aren't calibrated with my DD-1 as of yet, so they're just a light show for now.
Low 12's full tilt? Ill take that. Low power so I better not drop too low anyways.

So i got these about a year ago, life events kept me from doing much to my ride, but here are some pics. I love these things!!
The day I got them..... all signed by Mr. Meade
Bonus pic of the DD-1 cuz...... SMD
Just like the old RF amp guts.... nice touch TD
Got them mounted up......
Video coming in a few. Going to eat while its uploading.

So awesome that you guys get to do stuff like this together. One day your son will be showing his son what he learned from you.
You know how you had that nostalgic feeling seeing your grandpa in the Denny's commercial? This project reminds me of when I would help my dad work on cars in our carport when I was a kid. The kind of feeling that money can't buy. Really good stuff going on here.

If you own a DD-1, is the + version worth it?

I agree that If I were to drop the 250 or whatever it is on an SMD tool, it could be better spent. I really just want to learn the difference between the gain overlap feature on the + model and using the various tracks i.e. 0db, -10db etc.
