  1. It's cause d series isn't meant to be under hood it can't take the heat ... I had it happen to me also use a heat blanket ...

    Yep, got hot

I always wrap mine under the hood with a heat barrier

Not that I don't believe you, but I went with a D series under the hood for 2 reasons: 1) on the XSPower website when I used the OEM replacement calculator the D6500 comes up for my '03 Expedition. 2) when I was shopping for my battery I needed up working with Nate on the phone, he asked me what vehicle and application I would need a battery for, and after I told him, the D6500 is what he suggested.

I don't feel I've been negligent in any way, and I just have a hard time wrapping my head around why with that being the case, XSPower won't honor the warranty.

  2. I called XS Power today because the D6500 I have under the hood(about a year old) is really swollen. Doesn't seem to be affecting performance, but I'm concerned from a safety standpoint. I was told that swelling isn't covered under warranty because that usually means there's a ton of resistance inside the battery and it wasn't maintained properly.

What I really want to know is, what did I do wrong in maintaining the battery? It's the only battery in my setup, it has been fed by a DC 270xp the whole time... I have about 2200 wrms in my system, and no other aftermarket electrical. I drive the truck every day, I charge high 14's cold and mid 14's when warm, hardly ever wang on it except for an occasional demo, and I never run any electrical with the engine off.

Thinking about it, I would be fine with an auto zone battery but, i took faith in the product and Nate was super helpful during the shopping process.

  3. I know, bumpin an old ass thread... but ive got to give props when/where they are due.

Meade, you are a huge inspiration to do stuff the "right" way. When I am working on a build and I get frustrated and think about how I am going to cut a corner somewhere because nobody will see or know but me, I think WWMD what would Meade do? Lol. Sounds cheesy but it's the truth, and it helps make me better at our craft, so thank you.

I have an '03 Expedition and I used some of your ideas here and put my own twist on them, especially for under the hood stuff.

damn i can't believe i didn't see your comment. Thanks a lot. I don't mean to ignore people it's just that this is a busy place :D

i appreciate all the good comments and say GFY to all the bad ones :P:D

I've been away from the forum for a bit and come back to see the man himself quoted one of my posts. Thanks brotha.

  4. Looks great! Just a question is that a push/pull system with the fans or are they all pushing in one direction? I've heard alot about them supposed to be in a push /pull setup and i cant tell if yours are. Im sure you know what your doing anyway haha keep up the good work!

they are not push/pull. Not really needed. The trunk has a vent that can let hot air out. Plus, i think i pretty much explained in the video that it's highly doubtful this car will see the road, EVER. Even if i did, it would be fine.

I figured! I don't know much about fan systems just trying to learn more about them! Thanks for the response!

Did you check the video? If not, you should it gives an idea of how much air those things are moving.

He did do a push/pull in his Tahoe, another build I recommend you check out if you haven't.

    :)

  5. It's hard to say what's "most" unique in this stage of the SMD Tahoe evolution.

Literally, by the definition of unique, it's got to be the relocation of the HVAC, combined with the XSPower voltage control module, and the air bag controller (sorry if i'm saying that wrong). because even though I know of very few vehicles with the SMD meters in them, I know fewer with that type of work done and hidden under the arm rest.

So many unique and awesome features in here. innovative placement of things, ingenuity, wire management, body work, craftsmanship too hard for one to stick out.

  6. Consumers in general have a shitty outlook on how things should be. The majority do anyway. Ok, not even the majority of all, but the majority of those who make their opinions be known. No matter the industry you are in. If you are the manager at taco bell, someone comes through your drive through and gets food to take home 20 minutes away, they will blame you because the food is cold. People think they deserve everything in the world and don't want to pay for the quality they feel they deserve.
