  1. So I ended up building a T-line for this, and holy crap! Sounds way better, its got 103.5" of port (based on the subs Sd) and tuned to 32hz. Lows are ridiculous now, especially for an 8" woofer. Very happy with its performance! All types of music sounds amazing on it, way louder, cleaner and doesn't seem to bottom out as quickly! Check my thread here: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/164829-t-line-build-for-single-sundown-audio-e8v3/?p=2394213

Here is a pic, but go to the thread for all info :P

  2. I created a thread the other day cause I am in need of help tuning my amp, 2 others have posted in it but I cannot access it. I get this when I try to access it to see responses: "[#10340] You do not have permission to view this topic." Any ideas why? I cleaned my history and cookies and the whole 9 yards, tried to access it from difference computers and devices but no luck.

  3. Thanks sobased, just checked out your vids. I am constrained to 38w x18h and I want to keep the depth at 16 or so to allow for amp rack, so I may have to drop from 3 subs to 4, but from what I am seeing of the e-8 it will probably meet my needs pretty well. If you tune to 30, let me know how it works out, also what are you tuned at right now?

I am currently tuned to 35hz, it's a very musical box and sounds about great on everything I've gone through. When I build another box, the box will be for 3 of them and that'll be sometime between now and May. I'm trying to sell my E12s first (I can fit one in my car, but I can also fit 3 8s, and I shall do the 3 E8v3s).

  4. I got one of 520 watts rms and takes it no problem. Pretty loud for one, but my loud and you're loud are 2 different things, I'm more of SQ than SPL

How would you rate yours at 520w on sq and spl? Ive got a Sa-8v2 with a hifonics hfi1000d (pushin 650w rms) and it sounds good but, it is my first set up and ive never had anything else to compare it to (and its in a 0.64ft3 box slot ported @35hz).
If i was you i would buy two E-8v3's for about 80/ piece, run atleast 1000w combined, and in a ported box (good value for all of that). Heck i paid 145 for one v2 and 110 for the amp and I think it goes deep. Plus the fact that it blows my friends minds when i tell them i only have an 8. :)

The only thing i dont know is that the resonant frequency of the e8v3 is 51.9hz and xmax is only 12mm which reminds me of a sealed box rock sub. The resonant frequency of the v2 is 34.6hz and xmax is at 16.5.

Also if you havent already bought an amp Hifonics makes a great series of high powered amps called the "Brutus" line at 1200+

I've never been on the meter before and this is my first setup also, the box is slotted. I have videos on my YouTube channel my s/n is lowlifehater8 , very good SQ takes the power with ease. Moves my headliner in my 2012 Accord coupe! I don't think you can really beat the E8v3s, great value and will not disappoint you. I plan on adding 2 more on around 1000 watts or a lil more on a Soundstream TX1.1300D. Plays lows pretty good, would be better if I was tuned low I bet. My next box will be tuned to 30hz.

  5. E8v3s or v2? And ibanender on YouTube put the v3 on a term lab and did a 147.4. The v3 is a nice sub, I got one so far and people tell me it sounds more like a 10. I got one of 520 watts rms and takes it no problem. Pretty loud for one, but my loud and you're loud are 2 different things, I'm more of SQ than SPL and don't plan on competing until I get a couple of em. I got mine a .66ft^3 tuned to 35hz and sounds good, next box ima tune around 30hz cause I play a lot of decaf and rap.

  6. And I made up my mind, instead of doing 1 E12, ima do 3 E8v3s on my Soundstream TX1.1300D @ 1.34ohms around 1000 watts RMS.. But I have to sell my E12s first (brand new). I made a thread on it cause I have question about port orientation: http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/163059-subwoofer-port-orientation-help-for-3-e8v3s/

NOPE NOT HAPPENING, preordered the X-12 March 28th, that's going in instead :runlaugh:

  7. I may be switching cars with my dad... The car I would be getting is a 2007 Volvo XC70 wagon. For this box, I would like to tune to 30hz. I want rediculous/destructive lows. Thinking of firing the subs up and port back? Subs will be powered by a Soundstream TX1.1300D at 1.34 ohms. The amps not CEA certified and its rated at 1300 watts x 1ohm. I'm thinking it'll be around 1000 with the subs.. Box size doesn't matter to me, I got at least 40" width , I'd like to keep the height around 12.5/13 so it fits under the trunk pull out cover. I rather have the box wider than deeper also. My objective is to have killer lows. Shooting for SQ not SPL, don't plan on metering anytime soon. I designed a box with torres.. I wanted my subs to be flush mounted and in the form of a mickey mouse head shape ,you know? Not sure how deep my box would have to be though, but I will make a template of the box to see how much room it actually takes up. If not, I plan on having the subs in a line across the top of the box, my ports will be firing towards the hatch and I am going to have to "bend" the aeros and use pvc elbows. How far underneath the subwoofers should the port be? I was going to have the ports stacked on top of each other but if they need X amount of space from the sub then I will do them on the bottom of the box and next to eachother. And lastly, I am unsure of how much volume per sub, I was thinking around 0.70-.80ft^3 although sundown recommends the max of 0.75ft^3. This will be my first aero port enclosure btw. Here is what I calculated for a box. torrespic.png

  8. Hmm, found someone who's selling a Zv2 10", didn't see a recone tho? Any info on reconing this??

We rarely made Z v.2 10s -- the gap is very tight and the 10" 12-spoke doesn't lend itself well to coil stability. Most of the Z v.2 10s floating around were DIY.

But what does usually work is an NS v.1 style kit with a Z v.2 coil -- which is same price as a Z v.3 10" kit.

If you could possibly re-cone to a 12" you would be better off, IMO.

Thank you, I happened to see a Z v.2 10 on eBay that had cracking surrounds so I said let me look into this.

  9. Also as far as wiring goes, I know my amp puts out 1200 rms @ both 2 and 4 ohms. So with my two W3's which are single 4's I just wired them parallel to 2 ohms. Now with either set up, is it alright to wire to 1 ohm or will it be bad for my amp?

    What kind of amp, sir?

Apline PDX M12. Says in the first post :P I'm guessing I can't if its only 2 and 4 ohm stable but I may as well ask and find out.

I knew that lol... And you can do 4 D2 E8 v3 and wire to 4ohms then if you get a bigger amp down the road you can wire to 1 ohm.. Or you can do 4 D4 and wire to 2 ohms or .5 ohms.. And yes I would check before trying that amp on 1 ohm just because it isn't listed there. Best bet is 4 D2 wired to 4 ohm!

  10. 4 E8v3's :D just like Ghettobasshead stated they have the same or similar output as SA8 v1/1.5 and Sundonz even stated they basically are the same. Plus you get more cone area.. Each one could easily take a clean 600 watts. If you already had 2 subs just try the 4, it can't hurt. 4 could possibly handle lows better just because of cone area and would get louder. What kind of music do you listen to by the way?

  11. So I would like to inform you guys that, yes I was under powering the E8 v3, so I decided to hook up my Soundstream TX1.1300D to it and wire it to 4 ohms (520 watts) and.......................... HOLY CRAP!! Night and day compared to 200 watts. Takes the power like a champ! Sounded way better, it loves the lows :D I have my gain down and just using my bass knob and I have the bass up a lil on the H.U. SO MUCH BETTER! Very impressed! Will also upload a vid to my channel (LowLifeHater8) shortly.20130104184249.jpg
