Well let just say I finished and gave her a quick test run.. Atomic + IA = Teh LOUDNESS I did a couple sweeps and OMG this thing is a low end MONSTER!!!!!! It felt like the truck was going to come unglued!!! I'm still having issues with the amp. I got a DMM this afternoon and found another thing out, the sub is dual 1.4 not dual 1. Not that big of a deal, but it was a suprise. The amp should be running at .7 but I'm still not having any voltage issues. This has me very much so stumped!!!!! I will have pics and maybe some vidz today, or at the latest tomorrow. Jon

UPDATE!!! Before hair cut After hair cut... I took the box down to about 3.21 cubic feet NET. With that space, my tuning ends up around 35-36Hz which is perfect for me, so it appears I will be able to salvage the build with next to no trouble. I'll take some more pics when I'm finished and everything is installed!! Jon

This build has officialy ended in failure! :ranting2: :angry03: The design is just too far off. I'm gonna take her apart and see if I can't save it. I'm out of MDF so I'm hoping enough will be salvageable to make something with. I'll post back with pics and hopfully a finished product some time soon. Thanks for all the comments guys!! Jon

Got a quick port question. I have 40"^2 of port, the port is 21.25" long. My net volume is 4.14ft^3. What tuning do you guys get??? Some how im my stupidity I messed up my calculations when I had a freind do my port lenght. The box was sopsed to be like 3.5 or 3.6ft^3 (net) to get the 35Hz I had planned for in my design. I would really apprceate any help, I am rather frustrated and annoyed right now with the whole situation.. Thanks! Jon

Well right now everything is sitting in the shop uninstalled. I had trouble with the amp, it wasn't giving me full power, actully it wasn't even giving enough power to dim my lights at idle (which is wierd considering how power hungry 20.1's are). The electricle is stock. It was much louder and hit a lot harder then my 8W7 did. It just didn't sound or feel like it was seeing 2000 RMS. Hopfully a freind well be over tonight to help me take a look at it. Jon

Not good Not good!!!! Just hooked it up, and apparently the box isn't as well built as I thought it was. My front baffle did not seal well, and it needs some bracing. Also I'm very sure I have it wired correctly but I'm not having any issues with voltage. I KNOW my stock can not handle the 2000 the IA is putting out. I'm planning on going back down and seeing if I can find some other problems. Idk what the issue is. I'll get pics and a vid once I get everything figured out. Jon

Man that looks sweet!!!!!!!! Jon -
Ok, as some of you know I got my Atomic today and I started working on the box about 12:30. I just finished up so now its pic time!!!!!!! A dry run of the box... All the cuts were made like this, no table saw used at all! A little port vision Rounded ends... Think I've been doing any cutting latly???? Part way through the build... Finished product. I know its ugly but I wasn't going for a perfect build.. Its not perfect, the front baffle was difficut to get to come out right. I'm not really worried though, I doubt I'll even paint it, just let it be bare wood. It is 2.75@35Hz, least thats what its soposed to be,lol. What you guys think of it?? I'm letting it dry and setup tonight, I'll give it a test run tomorrow, hopfully my electrical will be able to handle it till I get a new bat and maybe a new HO. We'll see.. Jon

By brown blob, I was refering that I hadn't put my contacts in yet so all I could see was the brown of the truck. It'll be a daily driver, I know the xmax doesn't mean a lot but after running the W7 one gets used to a long throw, lol. Right now I'm working on resesing the sub so its not hitting the seat, I finally found a design for it I like. I'm kinda making stuff up as I go so its taking me a little more time then normal. That and I miss cut my front baffle, wasted a crap load of time and almost a 1/2 sheet of MDF, pissed me off pretty good. All I have left is to make the port, glue it and screw it up. I'm planning on beind done toinght, as long as nothing goes wrong that is :construction: :poster_oops: Jon

Thanks guys, I'm working on the box right now. I don't have a lot of specs on it b/c I can't find them anywere. What I can tell you is its dual 1 Ohm, has an xmax of 10mm (weak i know) Thats about all I know as for as specs. Atomic's site doen't have any for it, and the person I got it from only had them. The suspension is supper stiff though, lot stiffer then my W7 or LI's ever were. I'll have build and finish pics tonight. Who knows I might even give it a test run tonight ;D Vids will also be coming sometime soon! Jon

Hmm so I woke up this morning, stumbled around the house to look outside and see a brown blob. Look a little close and what do I see, UPS GUY!!!!!!!! So without further adue.... A T O M I C L O U D S P E A K E R ? ? ? ? Errryup AP/SPL 12"!!! Side shot And a shot of the mag. Well this means I'm gonna have to start a new work log I guess. After lunch I think i'm gonna go down to the shop and start working on the box. Hopfullly it'll be loud

I hope you have plenty of room and have plans for your electrical system. From the 2 choices you said, personally I'd go with the DMX's. Not as many ppl use them as say the kickers. I'm always trying to use different stuff then everyone else. Guess that just me. With that type of power your really gonna have to beef up your electircal!!! Jon

Haha, don't worry. It takes a lot to rub me the wrong way. Right now I'm putting these projects on hold. I'm working the desgin for my new setup. Atomic AP/SPL 12" in the reg cab. The port is giving me some trouble but hopfully I will have it finished by tonight. The sub should be here monday and then I'll probably start another work/build log... Jon
