I read this thread yesterday........ Did you got out and buy all the tools too? If so, thats the way to do it jump right into it. LOL
Thats a Crown Victoria? That trunk is huge guys. Its the same body as a Lincoln Town Car. 41" is defiately possible.
if you were asking me if i went and bought the tools yes i did just the sander router and skill saw well the one attached to a small table.

I use to do it too and now that I do direct runs, I see how much faster my back batteries recover after I push them hard
well i have the wire . i guess ill do that also.
-
so how did you use 90 feet of wire on a single run if wire and a big 3?
cut some too short. i have little pieces laying everywhere remember im not pro yet. this is my first time.
-
Even better.
Sounds like your on the right track.
i have like 30 pages of shit i got from here im trying to make it all work.lol hey i took out the seats and ran my wire down the center of my car power on 1 side rcas on the other is that right?
-
Ring terminals.
I found that orchard supply will have some that fit 1/0
There not the good copper ones or even the gold plated looking ones, but they work.
i have the copper ones. ill just go buy some more
-
connectors, idk what the proper name is, but ill roll with connectors... or w/e
looks are good enuf for me
works for me
-
if you have an old one that is smashed. i know the stinger terminals are reusable. you gotta pry it back open though. a vice helps also.
i am soldering ( may not be correct spelling) them in
-
get more tommorro, cant half ass that thing...
im trying not to. what are those called anyway?
-
x2 if you ground it in the back dont think it will help much
oh shit the whole time i have been running my other kinetik its been grounded to the back
-
Hell yes brotha!
Get out there tonight and finish it up!
i would but my fat ass didn't buy enough ........what ever the hell you call the things you put on the end of the wire to screw it down
-
When you say 1 run are you saying 1 run of both pos and neg from the front battery to the rear battery?
no just the pos. should i run a neg also?
-
How many runs of positive and negative did you run?
1 run from front to back batt, and from the batt to the amp, ground to batt, batt to amp. all 1 run.
-
Hey I need some wire.. Haha
I HAD TO OF MESSED UP SOMEWHERE.
-
unless i did something wrong? i ran all of my wire cut everything for big 3 cut the wire for the kinetik and i still have 60 feet of wire! WTF!
-
He needs basic box building skills befo attemping a blow threw this is a great step foward for him in audio I bet after be gets more familar with wood We will see something crazy from him he gots the heart
thanks i have always been into car audio but i have also always had to pay shops a shit load of money i use to go to fair oaks electronics in sac to get my shit done though. but looking at the crazy shit on here i want to try and do something with my car.
-
You will want to try to "save" or collect your mdf sawdust so you can mix it with wood glue to make some nice (cheap) wood paste to fill in over the screw heads.
...Flexstone paint = "pimp".....
Oh yea "Rio Linda"
This in A LOT trickier than it looks.
The measurements stated are the max dims for "the big open area" in the trunk....
It's a crown vic, so there's the "lil shelf" area up under the rear deck (where ur amp rack was origionally) and then there's a "big open area" farther back after the drop off/step down.
The only way I see to really maximize this setup is custom build it so it fires or breathes through the rear deck and get the pressure into the car rather than just in the trunk with minimal blow through.
You're still trying to pressurize the trunk if you build another box like the one you have and port or subs up/back/sidways isn't really gonna make a diff you're still fighting an uphill battle until you remove the trunk airspace from the equation IMO.
But I already said all that in PM...I don't know why you're still gonna go about it the way the current box is "having no idea what you're doing" w/ regards to building it....
I guess if you feel you can swing it go for and it'll be a major learning experience.
I will always offer any tech support I can... and Mr. Giant SUV w/ 16 subs (Kingsuv) Knows a thing or 2 about pressurizing a lotta air and sometimes seeing minimal gain upfront.
Good luck Bro.
really i just want to do this hoping to learn something. everyone is talking about how fun it is.
-
Would you still fit that size box through the trunk opening?
idk. i messed up somewhere on the measurements.
-
There is no way your trunk is 41 inches high that means I can put a 3 foot 5 inch man in there and he can walk around with the trunk shut
SHIT! ok when my wife gets home ill measure it again.
-
Is that the outside of the box or inside?
thats the trunk space i have that i can use
-
1 and 5/8 is what I use for screws also and never take the screws out of your box unless your going to throw it away
I would also buy 4 inch round pvc pipe if you have problems with a slot port
After you know how big it is post the diamentions so we can tell you port length to tune the box
46" from left to right x 41" high x 32" from back and thats if i even measured it right
-
unless he wants to cut some 45s out of wood. maybe save some of that money.
kinda went overboard on 1/0 imo
you said 45 what is that. shit i dont even know how im going to build my box i dont have a design or anything. maybe i i should figure that out first.
-
i agree with a round over bit for the router and 1-5/8 screws!
that i can probably do.
