  1. Hello all, first post here on the forum. Needing a little help with a design for a ported enclosure. This will be my first ported enclosure build. Last week, i acquired two Alpine Type R 12s (SWR-1223D) dual 2 ohm voice coil..already in an Audio Enhancers brand pre-fab box from a kid for only $70 so it was a great deal! I have an Alpine MRX-M110 amp. First of all the box doesn't have enough airspace, it only has .92 cubic feet per chamber before displacement. Secondly, it is tuned to a whopping 43hertz! I got this info from their website. I mainly listen to rap, r&b, hiphop, alternative rock and a little pop. The subs are not performing very well on the low notes in the music im listening to so its got to go asap! I have a 95 blazer 4x4 4 door. I have room for 37.5" wide, 18' tall and 18" deep. I would like the new enclosure to have alot more airspace with a common chamber and common port, with a much lower tuning! Any and all help will be appreciated! Opinions and designs please?
  2. I have 03 Blazer I'm about to start a build on in a couple weeks. It has 6.5s in all four doors and 4x6's in dash (IIRC). I plan on cutting the power to the dash speakers but just leaving them factory. I have decided to go with the Crescendo CZ series for components in the front. Because my budget is a little tight at the moment i can't afford to put a comp set in the rear also so I was wondering can coaxials in the rear will keep up with the comps but not sing over them? I was considering the Crescendo PWX Pro mids but I'm pretty sure those would be a lot louder than the comps. Or should I cut the power to the rear spkrs also and just have comps in the front? Also my mids and highs are being powered by a Clarion XH5410 and my sub stage is 2 Zv3 15s powered by CT1400.1 if any of this helps... Thanks in advance
  3. going to make a box for two DC 18 level 3 d2s on a cresendo 3500 max dem 28 high 46 wide 32 deep subs up port back thanks for your time btw its a 2002 trail blazer im going for spl in this biuld with max dim the box is 6 inches away from tail gate if more space is need make box taller
  4. This is not my actual UBL, I posted this in the wrong section. I've asked this to be moved. feel free to post. Well, first off. This is going to be off to a slow start. As some of you know, I totaled out my beloved daewoo and did not have full coverage. I was also between jobs when it happened. So I just picked this 2dr, 4wd blazer today, literally. I got it for a good deal. It needs some work, but it'll be worth it. I got some shit to fix on it, A/C, some suspension work, and I think the front axle solenoid is bad, I hear the transfercase solenoid kicking in, but no pull from the front. Few little nick nack things to fix. No biggie, I'm good at turning a wrench. Any way, I'm pretty well broke right now, until I get steady cash coming in. Most likely the build will start with one of my BC3500's on one of my ufo BTL/Zv3 hybrid 18's. I'll be running xs power batteries all around, I've got 3 D3100's all and will most likely pick up 3 more. Also as some of you know, I won that IA contest a few months ago. I'm still waiting for their new wardens to show and amps. 6-7 D3100's 1 Mechman 320 amp alt 2 IA comp sets per door, one actual dedicated mid bass and an decent super tweet per door. three IA6.4s Haven't fully decided on wire yet, but something silver tinned There will be some vehicle mods besides car audio too some daewoo stuff first this is the biggest issue on the body all gone
  5. So I'm wanting to put some bigger and better mids in my door panels but my windows track is in the way for the stock position. Any suggestions on how to go about this without getting too crazy.
  6. I currently have a 4th order box with 2 sundown zv4 custom on a nendo 3500 @.50 ohm walled at the C pillar. My question is it is not hitting numbers on music that I would like to see. I did a 146.5 @ 36hz at the head rest and I want to know do yall think i would get better numbers building a regular wall or perhaps try and redesign my 4th? My 4th is 4cuft sealed and about 9.5cuft ported with 144 sqin of port tuned to 45hz. Downside to this box is there is about 3 inches more on the sides I could have used. I build it outside the truck to slide it through back but I am thinking about building next one inside truck using 2x4s as structure wall around box. So question is maybe for better spl number on music should i just build another 4th inside the truck or do a standard ported wall??? any help would be nice. I see some trucks hitting higher numbers with a flat ported wall.
  7. What's up guys? I'm starting my new build in my blazer and I need a few pointers on building the wall inside the blazer. I have 3 AQ HDC3 18's. I have built boxes but never a wall made inside the vehicle. The box will be taller and wider at the b-pillar than in the back because I have to squeeze in enough room for 3 18's. Where the back seat goes, it stair-steps up so I will have make the bottom of the box to fit that. Do you guys have any tips on how to ensure the box is strong enough on the edges where I can't screw it together? I want this box to be bullet proof. I am doing 2 layers of mdf all the way around with the front baffle and the back of the box 3 layers thick. I am also using square tubing for bracing. I am also trying to do a slot port on the driver's side. Thanks for the help!
  8. 9. Looking into ordering an amp within the next couple of days and cant decide on what amp. I am on a limited budget of $230. I recently acquired two Alpine type R 12's dvc 2 ohm and they're wired at 2 ohm final impedance. I was using an Alpine MRX-M110 but it is my sisters and she wants it back because shes about to put her own system in her vehicle so now i am amp-less lol. The model of the subs are SWR-1223D. In a ported box tuned to 42 hz i believe but soon i am planning to build my own with a lower tuning and more airspace, from the design and plans that Joe X helped me with a couple days ago. So any recommendations or opinions will be appreciated! thanks.
  10. Hey everyone, I have a 2000 Oldsmobile Bravada. I was wondering if it could be possible to fit 2 obsidian 18's in there without putting my seats down. I've been told that 2 18's can fit, but the box won't be very good for the subs. I just need to know if I can do this build or not, thanks.
  11. What's up everybody? Here is the build I recently started. I'm running 4 DC Level 3 15's in a 4th order wall. Right now, I will just be running everything off an AQ 3500.1 but I will soon add another... The box is Jeff Smith (Corona_Jeff) old box. I was lucky enough to get this box, so now I am trying to make it look good. The box was built and designed by Trent Choate (tctdh11) and Jeff. Also I want to give a huge thank you to Trent Choate and Cole Decker for helping me with this build. Trent has been teaching me a lot along the way and does some great work. Let's start with a pic of the blazer. It's nothing special but I will be working on the exterior after the build is finished. It's a 2002 4x4 4 door. Now Let's get the fun started... Got the interior all ripped out Built a platform to hold the box Now we had to try and get the box to fit. It was definitely a tight squeeze!
