This build has been floating around Facebook recently so i thought i would make a re-build log to show off what work i did to EricR's "Pimpala" for my good friend Taylor. heres the build up until the point my friend purchased it. http://www.stevemeadedesigns.com/board/topic/195065-the-pimpala-usaci-sb3-build-log-smd-vm1-and-om1-flushed-in-the-dash-3-dc-level-6-18s-with-powder-coated-ti-baskets/ He recently purchased the vehicle (just the shell, no equipment) and after a week or so of bumping the 4th order with the sp4s he's owned for a while, i convinced him to trust me, and let me work some magic....que the conversion from a 4th order for 3 18s, to a 6th order for 2 18s. But not just any 18s, the mother of all holy woofers (to us)... THE TEAM Fi......weve waited for the day to be able to own and cherish these subs, and Scott at Fi hooked us the FUCK UP. Definitely will be buying new from him from now on list of equipment: Current: 2 x 18" Team FI 1 x DD M3b at 1ohm (zero voltage drop) 1 x bank of caps 1 x 300a GP alt 3 x Soundqubed 6.5" mids (per door) 1 x some shitty 4-channel Final: 2 x 18" Team Fi 1 x DC 10K (sitting in the garage waiting for electrical) 1 x 40ah Juicebox Lithium (getting repaired by Kevin, ETA Dec. 1) 1 x 300a GP alt 3 x Soundqubed 6.5" mids (per door) 1 x some shitty 4-channel for now now for some pics..... We asked everyone at Fi to sign the subs for anyone who doesnt know how much we run Fi
Hello, I have a 2004 Chevy Impala SS with a factory CD player, iSimple Gateway iPhone adaptor. the Factory installed Amp was replaced with an Alpine 4 channel, all speakers were replaced with Memphis Audio and i also added 2 Memphis Audio 10" subs in a sealed box, ran a 4GA Rockford Fosgate power cable from the battery, a Capacitor and ran a 4GA ground to the seat belt bolt under the rear seat (which is directly on the body) the Factory amp is still installed but the speaker wires go to the new amp. also each sub had its own amp. ever since that install, my radio reception has sucked!! if anyone has any insight, i would love the help. also the car has 20% tinted windows all around and the antenna is in the rear window, ive checked all antenna wires and everything seems to be connected still. Please HELP!!
Hello everybody, I'm planning on doing a build in my 2007 Chevy Impala soon. I plan to put my Obsidian 15" v3 D2 in a box, with specs that are yet to be determined, and power it with a Sundown SCV-1500D. Also, I'm installing a Kenwood DDX372BT in the dash. However, the part I'm currently looking for help on is my front stage; I did some looking and I think I've decided on Focal. Before deciding on speakers I figured I'd get a matching sundown amp (SAX-100.4 V.2) for my mids and highs. From what I've read in these forums, Focal has pretty good components; After looking around I found Focal Performance 165AS components and figured they would be suitable for my front doors with the tweeter in the A-Pillar. Since my vehicle only has two stock locations for tweeters, I wasn't sure if I should buy 2 pairs of these comps and put the second pair of tweeters angle mounted on the rear pillars or possibly the A-Pillars as well or If I should look into a Coaxial speakers (Factory rear deck is 6x9s). This thought brought me to the contemplation of these two sets for the rear deck: Focal Integration ISC 690 and Focal Integration ISS 690. So at this point in time I'm at a road block, So I come to the experienced car audio buffs of SMD asking for assistance. My questions for you: 1) Do you approve in my choice of In-Dash receiver? 2) Do these components (165AS) seem like a viable option to pair with the substage. If not, what do you recommend instead? 3) Rear Deck: Focal Performance 165AS, ISC 690, ISS 690, or something else? 4) If you think I should run components for the rear deck, where would you mount the tweeter? 5) Is Sundown SAX-100.4 V.2 a suitable amp for my front stage? I know it seems like I'm asking a lot... that's because I am. I have faith in this community to point me in the right direction. Thanks for all your help! -DT!
