  1. Hi, I have a car in which I did a car audio install but I did not want to replace the factory nav/radio so I bought a Fiio e17k Alpen 2, a portable DAC/AMP. I'm using my phone as source connected via usb so it uses the fiio's DAC instead of the phones. The Fiio has a line in/out connection in which I used a 3.5mm splitter to connect an aux cable to the factory radio and another rca cable to connect to the amplifier. My sub has only rca inputs (Hifonics BE2500.1D) so I'm assuming it only takes low level signal and no speaker level signal. Is there any way to tell whether the line out on the fiio e17k is sending low level or high level signal? I tested it with the hifonics amp gains at 1,500 watts and it sounds very nice and clean but I have no way of knowing if the amp internals are being damaged. Any help would be appreciated.
  2. Here is a short video from The Netherlands where bassheads compete in a fantastic competition format called; "Propper-Droppers". Since this game uses the real lows (20hz (!!), 25hz, 33hz & 40hz) it's a fun thing to watch because lots of hairtricks. We all like wobbling, whale stimulating BASS!
  3. So, my friend own's this car, I have only done these videos. Please tell me your opinion about the videos. There is also few videos of my KIA Sorento in my youtube channel, check them out too if you like. E: Also feel free to ask anything about this car if you want.

  5. OK! This is my first time posting anything on SMD, But i wanted to try to log my rebuild here for the first time. Well, where to start.... The vehicle is a 1995 Mazda B2300 SE pickup with a camper shell. Im cutting the rear wall out on this build so yeah, shes going to be big. i actually wanna keep down low until she starts to piece together on this one just to build hype. What i will say is that this thing is going to be a low end MONSTER FROM HELL!!! ill post some pics of my truck when i can, but other than that, stay tuned lol. and thanks for following my log if you do.

    Best Amp for Low Budget

So, To start off... I currently have two of these, each requires 2.2 cu/ft of space, so does that mean 4.4 for the pair? My box is 4.6 cu/ft...harm done there? And here comes the bashing.... My current amp is a Boss Armor R4000d. Yes, I know all about Boss and their ridiculous ratings. My guess with the whole Amp/Volt formula (13.8x120) at 80% comes out to around 1300, But it's more like 800-900 @ 1 ohm, or so. I got this amp for 30 bucks, so it did it's duty while it lasted, but the SQ is so horrible, I'm embarrassed to turn up my music (lolz). Brings me to the whole point of this. Since I don't want to push the gains on my amp high, I want to go with a 1500-1800 RMS amp @ 1 ohm. (feel free to correct me). My budget is somewheres between $150-$250 ish, so I'm aware I can't get top line amps (Like my old JL 1000/1 I had). Two amps caught my eye, because they seem perfect, but they are getting bad reviews. I figured i'd make a post about it and see where it takes me. Amp 1: Hifonics ZRX1200.1d Amp 2: Hifonics ZRX1500.1d Amp 3: Soundstream P1.1500d Yes, I'm aware that all these is what im looking for. My problem?---Brands. Any advice on what a better amp for around 150 or 200 would be much appreciated. If more info is needed, Just ask!

Bass is nice and loud then soft

Pioneer 4600BT Dual alt setup with 370XP DC Power for bass amp exclusively 2 Group 31 Crescendo Batteries Soundqubed Q3500.1 2 HDC418s in Joe X designed box Amp was set up using DD1 All, My system has been acting weird lately, (Past 3 months or so). For about 30min, my bass will play nice and loud. After the 30min or so, bass will get cut in half, just bass, not mids or highs. I thought it was the grounds so I checked them, both amp outputs are grounded to the batteries and the batteries are grounded to the chassis, yes the paint was stripped off. The amp is connected directly to a new pioneer unit which I bought about a month ago thinking it was the old head unit, also a Pioneer which was old anyways and needed replacement. No other issues, weird smells, or noise. Nothing else other than what I just described. Please help! Juan777

    SSA XCON 12 Lows?

I stumbled across the SSA Xcon series 12" subwoofers on youtube and they seem like great subs, but does anyone know how LOW they can hit? Or rather how loud they can play Lows (down to 23hz)? The Xcon 12 has an Fs of 32Hz, but the Zcon has an Fs of 37Hz, and judging from the videos of the Zcon's it seems like they have a stronger low-end response (even at a higher fs hz), just want to know what you guys think, thanks.
  10. Wondering which sort of sub-stage would offer me the best output in the 27-34 Hz range. I like low end bass that is "thick" and "deep" in quality. The sort of bass that warps windshields with ease, moves a lot of air, flexes everything and sounds like pure overwhelming sound pressure. I want a ground pounder that shakes your internal organs down to your bones blurs your vision and makes it hard to breathe lol that's what I like and that's what i'm aiming for. If a different sub besides the Bl or Q would accomplish this similarly please feel free to share suggestions with me but I would have to stick with dual twelve's in order to maximize cone area in my Honda Civic.
  11. I'm curious to know, as far as LOWS go (23-30hz), what would be best position for a dual 18" enclosure's port? i love low notes but dont want to sacrifice the mid 30's either. To really FEEL the lows would having the port+subs forward be best? Also, what would a recommended tuning for the box be? 28hz? would there be a point in building a wall for 2 18s? appreciate any help guys.
  12. Hello! I´ve been building this car for 2-3 years now, doing simple things with small amount of money (becouse I´m studying in university at the moment). Most of my amplifiers and headunits I have bought as used to save money. Car is -91 Toyota with basic 16 valve 4AFE engine. When I got the car it wass fully stock. I´ve been competing in bass race for 3 seasons and this car has seen lots of different boxes. At the moment I´m building just for fun, not thinking about competing. So here is few pics what I have done to it. Upgraded stock battery to Optima. Some silent coat there. 5,25" mids on doors, Pioneer headunit. Steering wheel changed from ugly stock to Nardi. One of old setups. 15" Ground Zero Nuclear and Spl Dynamics 1500D. Then I bought these reconed 12" Ground Zero Nuclear SPL´s. D1 coils. Planning box for them. Using 6" aeroport... Fiberglassing for getting more volume.
  13. Im looking at getting 4 15" subs and building a Wall in my Tahoe, but not sure which brand is best for clean + low music. Im leaning towards 4 PSI Platform 2 15's, but now I've researched DC's Lv4 15s, as well as several of the Fi 15s. Call this stupid but I need a system that can play my favorite DECAF track (August Alsina - Downtown 36, 29, 27) as clean loud and low as possible; well, obviously not JUST that song, but I love it. Thanks guys.
  14. So me and my uncle are building a wall enclosure in the back of a 1997 expedition, and we made a little mistake of making the box 18 inches long when I feel it should be way longer so I can tune it to 29-31 hertz, we already glew'd the sides bottom and back together but we were curious if it's possible we could glue/caulk or anything to add on more wood to the sheet if it's possible, I was told it would fuck with the frequency and told it would work if done right, right now I can only tune the box to 35 hertz when I'm trying get lower This is how the box looks right now, there is a opening in the back for plexy glass to be installed.
  15. I am planning on putting about 5,000 watts of power into a car and of course, it has the stock alt, so it probably won't hold up. I understand that alternators come in different sizes, let alone different amperage's, but I need to know how to go about selecting an alt that will fit my engine/car.

    So confused

So when I first got my system I got a cheap Pyramid 1000 watt amp for 50 bucks and now I upgraded to a cheap 1600 watt lanzar ( i thought lanzar was pretty decent) and i feel like my 1000 watt hits lower bass. Could that be possible because i thought that the box controlled how low the bass can go?
  17. First time posting here, figured I'd give you bass heads a tune to bump! Download at - I got some more tunes on my soundcloud as well, feel free to download em! Enjoy!
  18. I put hids on my 93 full size blazer and for some reason every so often but not every time as soon as i cut the lights on it kills my suv even going 80 down the interstate. any ideas?

    Tuning Frequencies..?

Hi, I was just curious how much of a difference it makes with tuning, lets say, 1 htz difference. Such as 32 compared to 33 or 29 compared to 35 or 40 htz. Is it a huge difference? I have really only heard my boxes and my first was tuned to about 40 htz (2 RF P2 12s) and this second one I made is at 38 htz (T0 15" RF "high output"). I haven't had it installed very long but I definitely notice it plays the lows much better and has an insane vibration at 35 htz when compared to the 40 htz. I tend to like a punch to my music with plenty of lows but I like being loud too. Any comments on a favorite tuning or anything? I listen to dubstep and rap mainly with some rock as well. Any info/advice is appreciated!
  20. Ok, i have a MTX 9500 12'' SVC 4ohm on a Soundstream Rub1.2500. The sub is getting around 1000wrms. The sub sounds good and is not blown/ damaged in any way. But on low notes around 13-23hz the sub ''sucks in''? It still moves but it sinks all the way down to were the lip is wrinkled? my voltage is good, and theres not much that can go wrong when wiring a SVC sub... any suggestions??
