  1. Hello everyone I had a shop custom build me one and told them i listen to rap, decaf and would like it tuned low. It seems that it is tuned pretty high because the box is very peaky and wont play anything below about 36-37hz. So i decided on trying to build my own box to get the results im looking for so i downloaded some programs and have been playing around with hornresp and winisd trying to design me a box for my 4 skar evl 12s. I cant seem to get the results im looking for on the graph so im wondering if anyone thats good at designing boxes could help me. This is my very first design and honestly have no clue what im doing haha! Im wanting a box that plays low and hard trying to do some hair tricks if possible.
  2. In a quest to find a powerful amp under $75 for the $150 SPL challenge, I came across this amp which seemed too good to be true. I've never heard of DTI, but this amp promises 2500 watts at 1 ohm, 14.4 volts at 2% THD. If true, it would be the best watt per dollar amp I've ever tested...but, is it true? Heck, even at 1/2 of rated power it would still be a supremely good deal. Let's take a closer look at the amp and try it on the Amp Dyno. Is it the deal of the century or just a bad joke? Time to find out... 5. I am trying to build a box for 4 Sundown Sa6.5s on winisd but i cant seem to get a configuration that doesn't have a ridiculous rear airport velocity. I am building this box to go under the rear seat of my '15 Sierra Double Cab. The shape of the floor makes it hard to do a rectangular port so i am trying to use an aero port. Please help me come up with a config that will work for my application
  6. Hey everyone, currently in the market for some new subs for daily use. Looking at either one level 5 15 on a 3.5k, or 2 xl elite 12’s on a 2k each. what would be better in your opinion, and why? thank you
  7. I have a single 12" american bass godfather DVC 1ohm subwoofer and a Audiopipe 1800.1d mono amplifier to power the sub. Head unit is typical pioneer deh3500 model. This is in a 06 Ford Escape XLT, needing suggestions and ideas on a box build for this setup. I'm open to any idea's except, sealed enclosures. Seems to look like it'll be easier to blow a sub using a sealed enclosure . Keep in mind the Escape is my daily driver. Thank yall for any tips or ideas.
  8. Question for any person, I'm building a box for a friend. He has 2-JL Audio W7(not the AE) svc 3ohm subs with a Taramps 5000.1 mono but switching to a JL 1000 mono amplifier. He wants a sealed enclosure but he likes loud so I suggested a ported box. Doesn't want that, so I had mentioned having both types either going 4th order being sealed and ported or go with a 6th order. By experienced ppl out there, which type enclosure would be best for these 2 12W7's? The system is going in a 06' Buick Regal. Thank yall if any ideas on this
  9. I have 2 12inch DB drive wdx 2k subs that I want to make a box for now the specs say per sub 2.0 cu ft for sealed and 2.7 cu ft for ported. Now if I build it ported does that mean each sub needs 2.7 cu ft or can the whole box be 2.7 cu ft????
  10. I was contacted by Massive Audio a couple of months ago to check out their new subwoofer line, the "BOA" subs. These are 6000 watt RMS subs available in 12 and 15" diameters. These subs have 4" voice coils and massive motor structures. In this video, I take a closer look at the BOA121, the 12" strontium magnet version. Note: This is NOT a sponsored video! Massive Audio sent me the subwoofer free of charge knowing I would provide my honest opinion and feedback of the speaker. I accepted as it would be helpful in future videos testing large amplifiers with a subwoofer capable of handing the tremendous power of some amps I test.
  11. Heres wat we got. I got a blazer with 37" width 20" depth n extensive heighth dimensions. I have a sheet of 3/4 in mdf. Im looking to build a box for my two alpine type r 15s. I plan on the subs and port to face up. A simple single slot port design would be awesome and ill likely run an mbquart 1000w onyx monoblock with them at 1 ohm. Anyone who could provide the dimensions and a diagram for a carpentery dummy it would b appreciated thank you.
  12. Hi guy's , just bought a Brand new JVC DRVN 12inch (Black cone) , going to run at 4ohm as is a single voice coil , off a 250 rms jvc amp . Please help me design a box !!! Medium size , Good for music but also hitting low for some shake (Y) maybe 34hz or 36 what you reckon ?? Want a basic rectangular port Please can someone advise me on box dimensions . Either inches or mm for each piece , send me a link to a good box , and help me figure a good HZ tune . 13. This will be my first post here on the site. Im currently running the American bass xfl 12" subs in a q bomb pro box off a hifonics brz 2400.1 with a red top under the hood in a 95 Avalon. So I need help designing a box where my subs face the rear but my port is facing the cab. I want the port in the center bc I want it blowing through the "arm rest hole" of the back seat. I will be posting a few drawing of what I have drawn up. no measurements yet, just ideas im playing with. This box I've designed is an L shaped ported box with the port in the back. what do you guys think??? will it work?? *******The blue represents the air flow. I also drew braces in the back....
  14. I'm not a pro in this area so please be patient. I recently had my sub installed at a shop in my area along with an amp and a lc7i. Whenever I crank the volume up I get this low rumbling sound from the sub. It makes this noise even when there is no bass in the music I'm listening to (i.e. intro, outro). However, it doesn't make this noise while the music is paused. When I looked in my trunk i noticed that they ran all of my signal cables with my power and ground, so I figure there's a ground issue. I went back to have it looked at and the guy told me that since my car is so small it will make that noise due to the amount of bass that I have, and if it was in the trunk of a small car instead of the back of an suv I wouldn't hear it. None of this sounds correct to me, am I correct in assuming that he was just being lazy? I also noticed that my bass knob does not turn my amp all the way off. When the knob is all the way down I can still hear my sub, just at a much lower volume. Is this normal? Oh yeah, due to my sub being a 2ohm and my amp not being 1ohm stable I am forced for now to operate at a 4ohm load. This is only pushing 750 watts to a sub that 1100 watts is recommended for. The instructions say that I can safely power it with 500-1200 watts rms. Could this be a contributing factor? 2009 BMW X3 single Kicker Comp Q 15 Kicker ZXS1500.1 Audiocontrol LC7i
  15. So, I have these 2 Alpine SWS-15D2 woofers that I have in a living room in separate 3.0 cu ft boxes (a bit too large) and I'm looking for a better way too power them. Each has a 500W RMS rating and right now I am using a 1000W computer power supply unit connected to an Audiobahn AMA24002 (600W RMS x 2 channels). Are there any receivers out there that can provide the wattage necessary to power the speakers without having to wire together a bunch of components in a tacky, ghetto fashion? Thanks
  16. I just became a amp dealer for amazing company called "TARAMP". The technology inside these amps are insane and they are not big and bulky either. We carry a large variety of amplifiers and have very good pricing. PM me for any further info. I am very fast at responding back. 400 watts to 50,000 watts Some of these amps are capable to work at .5 ohm STABLE thanks for reading!!!!!
  17. So just to state this is not a VS thread. I just want to know what the advantages or disadvantages of say running 2 12s that are 1k rms ea over say a single 12 at 2k rms or even a single 15 at 2k rms
  18. here is my setup in the way of bass. 2X Jl Audio 12w6v2 1200/1 HD amp Does anyone know if it is possible to get the full 600 watt rms to each of the subs? The person ho installed said that it isn't possible because the amp is only 1.5 ohm stable or something like that. Any JL Audio people out there that can help me out? Im getting maybe 400 watts to each sub and one of them just blew. I am thinking that may have had something to do with it being underpowered?? Thanks
  19. what my current system is while I'm in the process of buying and receiving all the new toys that are lined up for the future . http://youtu.be/zA2zhb_z5Hg This will just be a note for progress for further on down the road to show how much i've grown and built up.
  20. Whats going on my friends? I have tried searching through the thread on my question and have found one link that is almost a year old and not sure if anyone besides me has happened to come across it. I posted on there but since the thread has been dead for so long, I am sure that it wont be seen for sometime. My question, I am looking for a good design that will give me nasty loud lows and give good spl. As the title says, those are the subs I am running. I know these subs can achieve decent levels as i had a set back in 96 @ 500Rms each on a gothic 1600 bridged and nailed 142.2. All in a full size custom van. I am working with a set of 12D2 @ 2ohm on a mrx m240 and you can take a look at my pictures and see how it looks... i have my old m1000 in the pics and have redone the wiring so a new pic will be posted soon showing what it looks like now. ( Before you say anything.... I will be getting rid of the Cap as it is useless for my current setup) I would like to keep the subs facing up, and have thought of inverting them as well if it wont totally kill SPL... but I would also like to vent on the drivers side... Either up or to the front... again.... which ever would be better to achieve decent numbers at the meter. I am going to be mounting two kinetic 2400's with it so my measurements will change from what i thought i was going to be able to use... as for now these are the dimensions i have to work with. i have 62.5" side to side. 18" tall and 20" front to back... i am looking for something that will get low and nasty... I am not sure the dimensions of the 2400 so if anyone knows.... please throw in a bone so i can get a better clue of what siz my box is going to be. i could get the smaller 600 or 800 and maybe mount them in the side panels under my xcab windows but still i dont have dimensions and with the power i will need on my m240 i think either of those would be a waste... or should i just mount 2 1200's under my hood and bump up to a 300 amp alternator and call it good? I have done some smaller builds and never had to worry about the things that i am doing now so bare with me on it... I am not completely noob when it comes to wiring.. as i never let anyone else ever install my equipment... just looking for assistance on a box design and maybe placement of secondary batteries and maybe the best way to fuse them to prevent damage to my subs and amps. Thanks everyone!!!
  21. This is my little progression build log of my 2012 Chevy Sonic LT got it 0 miles and I voided all electrical warrentys So when I got the car the first week first thing I did was Tint the windows and installed a sub it was a 12" Kicker COMP with a BOSS 1200watt I worked in a pawn shop I so i got both the amp and sub in box for like $60 --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------------------ Quickly felt the need for more... So I got 2 12" Alpine Type R in a Super Bass Probox I got for free from my job also (SCORE) lol Also bought a 1000 Watt JL Audio Amp ($80) and some cheap kicker door speakers front and rear with a eclipse 400 Watt 4Channel amp that was going bad ---------------------------------------------__ Then Well i hit a rough patch and sold the subs and box for $250 And put my kicker back in for abit then taxes came around and I bought this This is what went into the car now Metra Double Din Dash Kit Alpine IVE-W530 Double Din Alpine Controller Alpine Moving Video Bypass Pac-tr7 Memphis 15-MC62 Front Speakers Memphis 15-MC62 Rear Speakers Memphis 15-MC1AM Front Tweeters Memphis MRA 4.480 (To power those doors) Memphis MOJO 512D2 12" Memphis MR 1.1200 Memphis 16-X03 3-Way Crossover And a video I had a problem with that my amp would just for into protect mode and light were dimming So I bought an Optima Yellow top Problem fixed BUT I had no room to put my original cover back on... So I made a shelf and came up with the idea I can kinda show my amps now I have not had time to do some wire managing because simply I SUCK at it http://youtu.be/AXAOByZuRqAhttp://youtu.be/E2-70Bz2kjs http://youtu.be/zPpksB2N8Ec Car BEFORE AND AFTER BEFORE AFTER Thanks for looking through I appreciate all and any feedback I know there is ways to better my system but $$$$ is an issue haha or Id upgrade the alternator as the first to do kinda thing
  22. Hey, I'm new to this forum and i have quite the order for a question. To start off, I own a 2002 Nissan Xterra. I have replaced the head unit and speakers with pioneer products. I currently have 2 15" subs that i bought fro someone for a cheap price in the trunk. I am looking for a big upgrade. I want way more power and way more sound. Possible even hairtricks? I don't know a lot about subs, amplifiers, etc. so I would need to know everything I need to buy and do. My budget is 1,500 dollars, Whats the best I can do? Thanks!
