You won't be able to just run a port vertically up one side or the other because you'll have either too skinny of a port, or too long of a port in the effort of making it not too skinny. You could do a port up high or down low than doesn't span the whole width, something like 30"x4" or something in that area. You could do the same on the sides but I think it'd look more out of place on a side. Depending on the power you wana give to them and what you wana tune to, id say 7-10 cubes is anuff for both.
