Sammitch0
Yes over exerting your woofer can easily cause a blown coil, chances are the Tinsel lead snapped or something, not very good on the BTL's part off only 2000RMS I clip my PSI to hell with my electrical at 1500RMS and it doesnt even stink. DannyV18
You don't blow coils by over-excursion, it causes mechanical damage (broken spiders, broken leads, etc.) A possible reason why a coil would cook when playing low frequencies is because of the actual impedance dropping, causing clipping and excess heat. Sammitch0
Maybe if you learned to read you'd see where I said: "Yes over exerting your woofer can easily cause a blown coil, chances are the Tinsel lead snapped or something" Yeah learn to read please.and playing lower frequencies where too much excursion happens can blow a subwoofer from eigther box being to small/big etc. Quote Grand Cherokee Team Backwoods Bumpers DC 15" Level 3's /w 4 Coils Pioneer deh4200ub Pioneer 3-ways Pioneer Tweeters Pioneer GM-D9500F Audiopipe 1500.1D @ 14.4v Clarion Equalizer Knuconeptz Kollosus 0ga Knuconpetz Kollosus 4ga Coming Soon: 270xp / xs1200
DannyV18
Oh, lol YES. You said "exerting" not "excurting". Never heard that term used before but i know what you mean... But if your sub blows from over-excursion then either your box is WAY too big or your settings are not set correctly.
